How do I export an imovie as a quicktime small enough to work on iweb well?

I recently tried exporting a imovie into a quicktime choosing web page quality. Once this process was done I opened a iweb movie page and it inserted the quicktime movie in but also included a warning that it will not play well for all computers. It said the best way to have it work is to compress it to 10 MB. I went back and didn't see that option or understand all of the options that might make is smaller. It's about a 1/2 hour school concert. Many thanks for any help!

Hi Mt514,
If it's 30 minutes, I wouldn't worry about the 10 MB thing, I'm not certain, but I think that would apply to like a 5 minute movie... afterall, it's how big it is per second, not really how big overall!

How can I export an iMovie to a format that will work on a PC?

Easiest was is to install QuickTime for Windows (which is free from Apple) on the PC. Then any iMovie-created file will work.
If you do not have permission to install QuickTime for Windows on your PC (this could be the case for a corporate PC, for example), then I would suggest using SHARE/EXPORT USING QUICKTIME. Choose Movie to MP4. Choose h.264 for the video codec.

  • How do i export an imovie to a facebook group?

It is easy to export to a Facebook account, but how do I export to a Facebook Group that has restricted access? The Group under my account is a Private Group which means only members of the group can view its content, however from both my iPhone and in iMovie three is no reference to Facebook Groups of any kind.
How can I export my iMovie into my private group without making it public eg through my main FB account or via a service such as YouTube? I just want the file to be in the private group and not visible to non-members.
    TIA

Thanks for your reply Matt, that is what I have been doing, but I was really hoping it would be possible to do this from the Sharing menu on either or both of my iPhone or iMovie.
I guess I shall be disappointed yet again. As so often, "So much promise, so little delivery."

  • How do I export from IMovie when "not enough room in Heap Zone" error code appears?   How can I correct,  what to Do.."export movie" insteand of Media browser or IDVD?  Finalize movie?  I want to burn it to DVD!

How do I export from IMovie to Wondershare Creator to Make DVD and share hour long movie when I am unable to "publish" movie on Media Browser of IDVD because the error code "not enough room in heap Zone/ " appears and function is aborted.
I shortened the movie, that is no cure...Correcting date info on clips does not pertain.  Why would Apple throw roadblocks in your way without solving problems they create?
A techie made an appointment on the phone and was totally incapable of addressing the problem.
    What is a heap zone????

Instead of Share to Media Browser, what happens if you try Share Menu > Export Movie... (choose Large size) and save it to the Desktop?
If that fails try Share Menu > Export using QuickTime...
Then pick Movie to QuickTime Movie, then click on Options... which is just to the right of Export
Under the Video section click on Settings...
Then in the pulldown menu at the top, titled Compression Type: Choose Apple Intermediate Codec. Then click OK. And click OK again, and save it to the desktop. Once the .mov file is created, you can import that into iDVD and most likely it will work in Wondershare Creator if you prefer to use that instead.

  • How do I export from Imovie to Xilisoft?

How do I export from Imovie to Xilisoft?

Actually I did. And yes, I know that iDVD is no longer part of iLife.
I could only guess as earlier iLife versions did include iDVD (I ahve it). If you had an iLife install DVD, you would be able to install it; as you didn't share what model/year your MBP was, it could have been included.
My iMovie version is 9.0.9 and this is a screenshot of the options under "Share" in the File menu:
You can export (different options available) to your desktop as a .mov and then import into a burn software (that will author/encode/"finalize" it so it can play in any DVD player). I'd never heard of Xilisoft, but that is not a burn software; iDVD is (still available as part of the retail iLife disks from online resellers), or Roxio Toast (excellent), or Burn (free) or google for others.

  • How do I export an IMovie to a dvd that will read on a DVD video player?

How do I export an iMovie '13 to a dvd that will read on a DVD video player?

Use iDVD to do it. Select and click "Share" at the top of the window in the menu bar of iMovie, and you can find "iDVD". But  have you got iDVD installed on your Mac? If not, please check https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-4821 to reinstall it. If you have no iDVD installed and don't want to reinstall it either, you can use other DVD creator software to help you burn iMovie to DVD.

  • Changing frame rate when exporting from iMovie '09 using quicktime has no impact on duration.  Why?

Changing frame rate when exporting from iMovie '09 using quicktime has no impact on duration.  Why?
I have a file created by digitizing an 8mm film at a rate of 24 fps. I would like to create a downloaded movie at a frame rate of 15 fps.  The Export using Quicktime option seems to provide that capability but the resulting file has the same duration as the original 24 fps file.  How can I get the exported movie to be slowed down?

    joegez,
There is a feature you can use to slow down the video. In the project, move the mouse pointer over the clip, then click the gear icon. That brings up the Inspector. Click the Clip tab. Then you will see a feature there called Speed. Move the slider to the left to slow down the clip. Or you can enter a percentage in the box on the right.
Hope this solves the problem for you.

Bob's post says it all. Preview ignores the PDF's Initial View setting, and beyond that, it's a horribly unreliable vehicle for accurate viewing of...just about anything. If you're engaged in professional design work, Preview has no legitimate place in your workflow.

  • How do I export an iMovie project on to my iPhone 5 so I can upload to YouTube ?

I've been having issues on trying to easily export my iMovie project ,it's my first time using iMovie and I'm having trouble and I need help!

Command + drag your project from within iMovie onto your external drive and you will be asked if you want to move just the project or consolidate your media by moving the events etc as well.
Type "Consolidate" or "Move Project to External Drive" into iMovie Help for more information.

  • How can I export a Keynote presentation to Quicktime while maintaining my set transitions?

I try to export a Keynote presentation to Quicktime. This works, obviously, although it doesn't maintain the carefully timed transitions I set up. Instead, it just the default transition time for every slide, instead of the custom transitions I entered.
The default transition time now is 5 seconds. I tried removing the 5 but it just returns and entering 0 seconds does exactly that; 0 seconds.
Does anybody have an idea as to what I should do to fix this dastardly problem?

This is a well known problem with Keynote 6.1, the only thing you can do is use Keynote 5.3 instead, if you have it.
Meanwhile sit back and wait to see if Apple issues a fix in the schedule of updates they said they would issue during 2014.

  • How can I export an iMove Project if the Event file was deleted?  (Missing Media error message)

    Deep iMovie question:
I accidentally deleted various EVENT files from my iMove EVENTS folder.  Yes, they are really gone ... this is NOT a matter of restoring them from the trash.
The projects are still there ... I can still watch the projects as long as I am in iMovie ... but if I try to export the Project I get the MISSING MEDIA error message.
Logic tells me that if I can view the project ... the  file has to be SOMEWHERE inside my computer ... else I couldn't be watching it ... right?  I mean what am I watching if not some file somewhere which has moving pictures stored in it?
So HOW do I get to something I can export?  What am I watching when I watch the project?
I have iMove 08 on iMac with OS 10.6.8
Normally works great for my simple needs ... except if you move or delete an event file ...
    Can anyone out there help?
    thank you,
    Natasya

If you don't have the original files then I'm afriad you don't have anything to work with.
