  • Exporting/Importing iMovie project from one iMac to another

I have an iMac in my office and need to bring an in-progress iMovie project home to work on it over the weekend. Obviously, the iMac is not portable. : ) How do I successfully export the project from my iMac at work and import it to my iMac at home? I was able to move the "event", but the project itself is blank.
    Thanks!

I'm not an "expert" but I helped someone with this before...

  • How do I move an iMovie project from my iMac to my laptop

I want to develop a movie project on two computers. One is permanently at work and my laptop is for weekends at home. Can't figure out how to keep it editable after moving to laptop. This is not just moving video to a different hard drive. I use lots of stills with transitions. Also music and video clips are involved. I just need to move the project back and forth as it's developed.

There are several things to consider here:
    1) iMovie expects the Project file to live on the boot drive.
    2) The project file points to the iPhoto library, and the iTunes Library, which are usually also on the boot drive.
    3) The Event files can live on an external drive that is formatted HFS+ (journalled), but they must be moved there from within iMovie by using SHOW/EVENTS BY VOLUME and dragging and dropping in the Events Source List.
So I would recommend the following:
    1) Do this one project at a time.
    2) Move the EVENT to the external drive using iMovie, as described above.
    3) Create a folder on the external drive called something like Project Assets
    4) Go into iPhoto and export any photo you are using to the Project Assets folder on the external drive.
    5) Go into iTunes and export any music file you are using to the Project Assets folder on the external drive. Ditto for any Garageband tracks, etc.
    6. Now go into your project. Remove the photos that are there. Replace them by opening the finder to the external Project Assets folder and drag them in from there. Do the same for the music.
    7) Now Create a folder on your external drive labeled iMovie Projects. With iMovie closed, use the Finder to move the folder containing the RCPROJECT file to the external drive in the iMovie Projects folder. Normally this folder is in the <user name>/Movies/iMovie Projects/ folder, unless you have added additional folders within iMovie.
    8) Now, eject the external drive and disconnect it from your computer.
    9) Connect the external drive to your other computer.
    10) Move the RCPROJECT file to the boot drive of the 2nd computer in the <user name>/Movies/iMovie Projects/ folder
    11) Now, start up iMovie on the 2nd computer, and everything should work. That is, if I haven't left anything out.

  • How do I copy an iMovie project from iMovie 11 to an SD card

How do I copy/export an iMovie project from iMovie 11 to an sd card on an iMac?

In iMovie, use SHARE/EXPORT MOVIE in the size that you want, and then specify a name and location that you can find, such as on your desktop.
Then, in the Finder, drag the movie you just made to the SD card.

  • How do I export an iPhoto slideshow from my iMac to my iBook?

How do I export an iPhoto slideshow from my iMac to my iBook?

For the slideshow in the form of an Quicktime movie just export the slideshow via the export button at the bottom of the iPhoto window
and select the size to be created
If you want to have the slideshow in your iBook's iPhoto Library as it is in your iMac's library you'll need to copy the entire library from your iMac to your iBook.
A 3rd option is to export the photos used in the slideshow to a folder on the Desktop, copy that folder to the iBook, import into the iBooks library and recreate the slideshow.

  • How do I export an iMovie project on to my iPhone 5 so I can upload to YouTube ?

I've been having issues on trying to easily export my iMovie project ,it's my first time using iMovie and I'm having trouble and I need help!

Command + drag your project from within iMovie onto your external drive and you will be asked if you want to move just the project or consolidate your media by moving the events etc as well.
Type "Consolidate" or "Move Project to External Drive" into iMovie Help for more information.

  • How do I import an imovie project from an external drive to imovie?

My hard drive on Macbook Pro 2009 recently crashed. Luckily I backed up my imovie projects on an external. I upgraded with new hard drive and installed snow leopard. I transferred this particular imovie project from external to the 'movies' folder on the internal drive. When I launch imovie to find this particular imovie project all I see are various folders associated with this particular project not the imovie project icon (the icon where I double click and begin editing). If I try to import directly from external drive the project icons are grayed out.
Furthermore if I try to import any video (whether from external or internal drive) on imovie it says:
This file could not be moved:
(Insufficient access privileges for operation )
All movie files play on quicktime when I test them, so I'm unsure as to why I don't have access privileges.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Any replies to this one? Anyone????

  • How can I export a finished project from iMovie when the "share" function will not respond?

Hopefully someone might have an answer for me. I am trying to export a finished project to You Tube. However, when trying to choose the file, it does not show up in the finished project list. I have gone back to iMovie to see if I've made a mistake with finalizing it. It seems to be finalized, but I cannot share it to anything (You Tube, Facebook, iTunes). I click on share and it does not respond. I click on File, scroll down to share, it does nothing. Has anyone else had this problem? How did you reslove it?

I experienced the same problem as mreingrover. The Share features of iMovie appear to be completely unimplemented.
I had had MacKeeper installed for a short while on my previous Mac; never on my new MacBook Pro. I could not find any trace of it in Application Support, Launch Daemons, or LaunchAgents, in either my user Library or the root Library. But I figured maybe there was some trace somewhere that had been copied over from the old system, so I deleted iMovie and went to reinstall it from the App Store.
Now the App Store wants $14.95 for an app that has never worked right, and which is (I think) supposed to be free with my new MacBook Pro Retina.

  • How can I export an iMove Project if the Event file was deleted?  (Missing Media error message)

    Deep iMovie question:
I accidentally deleted various EVENT files from my iMove EVENTS folder.  Yes, they are really gone ... this is NOT a matter of restoring them from the trash.
The projects are still there ... I can still watch the projects as long as I am in iMovie ... but if I try to export the Project I get the MISSING MEDIA error message.
Logic tells me that if I can view the project ... the  file has to be SOMEWHERE inside my computer ... else I couldn't be watching it ... right?  I mean what am I watching if not some file somewhere which has moving pictures stored in it?
So HOW do I get to something I can export?  What am I watching when I watch the project?
I have iMove 08 on iMac with OS 10.6.8
Normally works great for my simple needs ... except if you move or delete an event file ...
    Can anyone out there help?
    thank you,
    Natasya

If you don't have the original files then I'm afriad you don't have anything to work with.
    Regards
    TD

  • How can I export a completed project from Premiere Elements?

There are a number of formats you can export from Premiere Elements. All are available under the Share tab and the major output formats are available under the Personal Computer option.
To export your completed video for use in another project, use the DV-AVI output option.
To export your video for display on the internet, use the WMV or MOV output options.

I experienced the same problem as mreingrover. The Share features of iMovie appear to be completely unimplemented.

  • How to move an uncompleted iMovie project from one hard drive to another?

I want to move an uncompleted iMovie project form one hard drive to another. What do I move to make sure that all of parts of the project: movies, photos, sound, are moved?
    Thanks, Bruce

    Hi,
You can deploy the ADF Project as an ADF Library Jar file and reuse the taskflow from that jar file in another BPM Application.

  • How do I play my iMovie project from a pc?

I saved my imovie project to an extenal HD and now my mac died and I had to buy a pc because of low funds :-(.......how do I play my project on the pc? Unfortuantly it's saved as a .imovieproject file. on the external. Help!

You need to get a Mac. Then you need your RCPROJECT file as well as any Events or Photos that were referenced in the Movie. The RCPROJECT file is a hexadecimal file that contains the paths to the Event video clips with In and Out points, Titles, transitions, paths to music, paths to photos, etc. If you want to play it on a PC, you need to use the SHARE menu in iMovie. Share it as an h.264 file or as an MP4.
To play on a PC, get QuickTime for Windows (which is free) and play it there as is.

  • How can I transfer my imovie project from the imac to the macbook pro

So that way I can continue to make/edit the movie on the go. I have a 27" imac and a macbook pro that I am working with.
    Thanks

The best way would be to move it using an external hard drive. Then you have to move the hard drive between the two computers. In fact you could all the Events folders and the Project on that same hard drive too. And everything would be self contained. You would use iMovie to copy the Projects and Events onto the external hard drive (don't drag anything outside of iMovie, moving the files manually is NOT good). Then as a last step run the Consolidate Project command on that copy of the project on the External HD. That would get everything you needed into one spot.
But be aware, your iTunes and iPhoto libraries are going to still be on your iMac. So you may not have access to EVERYthing you need to put into the final project.

  • How do I copy an iMovie project from one computer to another (without using aliased files)?

I followed the instructions at http://support.apple.com/kb/PH14745 to copy an event to one library to another.  The added library was accessed through a network share.  A new folder was created in the iMovie Library package, but the media files were all aliases to the media on the original computer.  Is there any way to actually copy the files and not have iMovie just create aliases?

I think the trick is to 'Considate source media' on the new library.  See:

  • How do I export my edited images from my iMac to an external hard drive?  Only the originals transfer.

How do I export edited images from my iMac Lightroom 5 programme to an external hard drive?  It seems that only the originals transfer.

In the export dialog don't choose original. Choose specific export settings for your purpose e.g. for a website, emailing or for printing.
You can choose jpeg, tiff etc and also select the size you need, sharpening and quality - click image below which shows an example of exporting jpegs in the sRGB color space.
