How do I export clip to play in reverse?

I have a short segment, in point to out point, that I would like to export to a stand alone quicktime movie that would play back to front, or, in reverse.
What is the best way to do this?
Is it just Modify>Speed. Check the reverse box?

I don't have a copy of FCE here with me at this location to confirm, but if it's like FCP, you can make speed changes using the speed tool or by selecting the clip then hitting Command j and entering the value. Any value entered less than 100 would be slow motion. However, Final Cut's slow motion isn't always the best. Motion (part of Final Cut Studio) does a much better job with its 'Optical Flow' retiming.
But your are correct, the best slow motion is form cameras that can record higher than normal frames rates. For example, if you record at 100fps, then slow that down in post, the effect is very smooth.

You need to use an enterframe event listener to continuously call prevFrame() until you see that you have reached the starting frame (by checking the currentFrame property). Once you detect you are at the start you remove the event listener.

Dragging you files onto the iWeb page is not the best way to present them as a large percentage of PC users won't be able to play them. The Wordpress standalone flash player is still about the best way to play audio and you have to know how to get into the source code to be able to download the files....

I'm able to export stills from iMovie without anything extra. I create a new project - call it Exports say. Now, in your event clip with the frames you want as stills, select a single frame and drag it into your project. Repeat for other stills you want to export. Then choose Share -> Export Using QuickTime.
In the pop-up, choose Movie to Image Sequence. Click Options and choose the image format you want. Playing with the number of stills lets you pick how many stills you want from each second of video. Hit OK and the stills will be generated in the directory you choose.
I've only done this with HD video. Don't know how well it works with lower res, interlaced vid.

How can you export a clip selection from FCPX to motion? Round tripping?

How do you export a clip selection out of FCP into Motion? In Motion, you have the option of exporting a selection out of motion? I don't understand why FCPX does not have this functionality. I do not want to export an effect or transition. FCPX is good, but it looks like the application team have no clue about workflows. Especially integration between FCP and Motion.

Not sure if you are asking a question or having a rant .. also not sure what your point is about it being 2013 ? Roundtripping is not in these apps .. sold for very little (relative to FCS which did roundtripping) and most of the functionality used daily from Motion is now in FCPX in one way or another. Perhaps it would be a 'handy' but to highlight this as some BIG deal is a tad missing the point ... .
What exactly is it you cannot do in FCPX and need to send to Motion to work on ?

How do I export only a small portion of an audio track to file WITHOUT temporarily deleting any part of the audio file?
I have a big audio file. This audio file is a language lesson with many, many clips of english sentences and their target language translations. I basically want to cut up each little section that I don't already know how to translate, and use these audio clips as audio flash cards. There's 1 problem though, and that's my lack of Garage Band knowledge. I easily do this up to 80 times per audio lesson, so a simplified method would be preferred.... boy, I'm sure missing Logic right about now ;(

To export only a part of a track you have two ways:
The easiest way is the "Cycle Region": set the cycle region to the section of the clip that you want to export. The cycle region will show as a yellow bar at the top of the Timeline. You can drag the ends to adjust it. Silence all other tacks and use "Share > Export song to disk (or share to iTunes)". This will only export that section of he clip.
The other way would be to duplicate the tarck and work on the copy of the original: Either trim the ends of the region by draging or cut out the section you want (⌘T). Silence the original and export the copy.

What version of iMovie are you working with? Is your end goal that you need to play the file on a Windows computer, or is it that you need to burn the file to DVD?
