How do I export my DVD player bookmarks

Greetings everyone,
I am upgrading to 10.5 and I was hoping to be able to take my DVD player bookmarks with me. The 10.4.11 has DVD player 4.6.5. I'm not sure what 10.5 has but I was wondering how to export the bookmarks and import them into the 10.5 player.
Thank You for any help
Marco

Thank you for your response. I actually purchase a used laptop and installed 10.5 on it and everything seams to be working fine. I want to completely reformat the old computer and do a clean install of 10.5. I have never done a bootable back up, but that is a good idea for the new (used) laptop.
I know where the bookmarks are in 10.4- user folder-Library-Application support-DVD player-settings. I am just not sure what to do in 10.5. I don't think it is stored in the same place.

  • HT2499 My DVD player has stopped taking discs and the DVD player no longer recognizes the drive.  I bought an external player.  How do I switch the DVD player from the internal drive to the external?

My DVD Player in my MabBook Pro, System 10.8.2, has stopped accepting discs and is no longer recognized by the DVD driver.  I purchased an external Blue-ray Disc player/writer.  It is a Samsung.  I downloaded their driver so the drive shows up on my desktop.  But how do I switch the DVD player over from my internal to my external drive?

In addition to RRFS's advice, please post in the correct forum. This forum is for iMac's, you mentioned you have a MacBook Pro. They're similar but still pretty different hardware.

  • DVD Player bookmarks and clips.

I did an erase and install of Leopard on my machine, which previously had Tiger on it. I want to restore my DVD Player bookmarks and clips from my backup. Can anyone Tell me which files I need to restore?
I found the following thread—which is dated—on this topic http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=4099333&#4099333 which suggests copying over the DVD Payer folder located in ~/library/application support. When comparing contents of the DVD Payer folder in my backup to to one in my existing Leopard installation, the backup copy has files and a Scripts folder that don't exist in Leopard. I'm afraid of adding files to Leopard that don't belong there. Leopard is running great and I don't want to screw it up.
    Thanks

I just copied the .plist file(s), which was sufficient, because I didn't bookmark with thumbnails.
You can find the .plist file for a specific DVD when you click on "Disc Info" in DVD Player and then "Reveal": it then shows up in Finder.

  • How do I connect a DVD Player or game console to the X-Fi Platin

Perhaps the answer is simpler than I think, that's why I didn't find the answer anywhere. Sorry if it's a stupid question. So, how do I connect my DVD Player, PlayStation 2 and Gamecube to the X-Fi Platinum. I use optical cables for the first two and analog stereo cables (Red and White) for the Gamecube. I plug them in, but I can't get any sound out. What do I do? Thanks in advance.

months later and I still can not get the sound from the tv to sync with the sound from the pc over the digital link.
edit to say I just saw this post
"The Audigy features BUILT IN decoding, you are almost talking like it is being done through software, this is a built in hardware function of the audigy"
It is being done in software on the host CPU. No Creative soundcard has hardware based decoding. If you don't believe me try it yourself. Check the CPU utilisation in SPDIF mode and DVD playback software decoding mode. There won't be any difference in CPU utilisation between the two modes. In fact on my machine with the X-Fi doing the decoding the CPU utilisation is higher than the nVidia audio decoder.
no there's something else I didn't check before buying. there goes blind faith in a company you have used for over 8 years.
The way that the x-fi is being marketed is very aggresi've. I will know not to trust anything this company say on their box, especially until I have read second and third opinions online. Vreati've, you have just lost this customer. Next year I will buy a card that just does what I need and not one that looks like something I should have and at a ridiculous price for a sound card that doesn't actually do hardware decoing that a ?50 piece of plastic can do.

  • How do i export to dvd

I have created a film in imovie but am stuck where to go next.  I have only used idvd before and that was with help.
Any help appreciated about how to export to dvd, and what app to use.
Also, any info on how to do dvd arwork on disc?
Thank you in advance of ideas.

    Jane,
If the intended delivery is DVD-Video, whether burned to a disc, or to a folder for later burning to disc. Encore is what you want to use.
As Harm points out, you can Export to either a DV-AVI Type II (can be muxed, bur elemental streams are a fail-safe), or to DVD-compliant MPEG-2 (here I would use elemental streams) and then Imported into Encore (or Linked to Encore via Adobe DL).
In Encore, if you use the DV-AVI Type II files, it will do the calculations for you automatically, or semi-automatically, if you choose. With the MPEG-2, you do the calculations beforehand and make those settings adjustments. This is done via the bit-rate calculator that Harm linked to, or similar.
When you mention "target file size," exactly what are you shooting for here? If it's just fitting to a DVD-5 disc, then Encore will take care of that. If it's something else, please let us know.
    Good luck,
    Hunt

  • How to clean the CD/DVD-Player/burner (MATSHITA DVD-R   UJ-875) on my iMac

I have a iMac early 2008, and I wonder how I can clean my CD/DVD - Player/Burner (MATSHITA DVD-R UJ-875). The Matshita spits out some cd's and some dvd's (not all) even if they are clean and with none damage. Have heard rumours who says that on the CD/DVD player/burner on Macbook Pro you can clean the player/burner with a shammy (wraped around a creditcard)inside the slot. Any suggestions?
The Matshita has been very choosy from the day i bought the iMac, but not as choosy as today. I consider to buy a new externally CD/DVD - player/burner. I have not time to send it in to service (4-6 weeks). But maybe someone out there has a good solution to fix this problem

Hi, yes I kno' the disk drives can be choosy on which make they read & write on.
You could try one ov those disk cleaning
CD's - usually sold @ stores like, Walmart, BestBuy or Target..
An external unit would work well, I'm not sure I agree with your thoughts on the service turn round time.

  • How do I make the DVD player play full screen in my external monitor instead of my laptop?

I just upgraded to Lion, and I have my laptop screen and my external monitor, and every time I tell my computer to play a DVD in full screen, it makes the full screen slide over from my giant external montior to my tiny laptop screen. How do I make it not do this? I would like to be able to watch my DVDs on the larger high-res monitor instead of my tiny laptop screen, but I can't seem to find the right preferences window or something.

With DVD player open, have you check the menu bar > Window > Show/Hide Controller?

  • How to hook up Wii, DVD player, using a Sony Bravia TV and Time Warner Cable Box

Does anyone have any insight? Do I need to buy a component cord to hook up the Wii? Should I run it through the cable box or dvd? The TV doesn't have enough hookup spots for everything so I have to reroute things and just trying to figure out the most efficient way to do it. I am clueless and the Time warner person that hooked up my TV was no help (as usual).
    Thanks!

You don't HAVE TO run a component cable from the Wii to the TV, but it will look better if you do. You don't run game system "through" your cable box or DVD. Each source should have its own input.
If your TV is a modern HD set, you should have more than enough inputs to accommodate a Wii, HD cable, and DVD player.

  • HT1338 How do I re download Dvd Player?

I recently purchased my new mac book pro.  Last night I tried to watch a DVD and every time I put the DVD in, it unexpectidly quit on me. Is there a way I can re-download the DVD player application?

There is no trial version for Acrobat XI Standard. What Leonard suggested would work for Pro however.
If you purchased Acrobat via a download from Adobe, you can re-download by going to the "My Orders" page on Adobe's web site (https://www.adobe.com/account/account-orders.html). You would also find you serial number there. If this does not work, you can download the software from here: Download Acrobat products | Standard, Pro | XI, X - if you've registered your software, you can lookup your serial number here: https://www.adobe.com/account/my-products-services.html#MyProductsHeader

  • How use Powerbook G4 as DVD player without it getting hot?

Suggestions please. Began to use older PowerBook G4 as a portable 15" DVD player. The bottom became almost hot to the touch so I hesitate
to continue watching DVDs until I know why so much heat is being generated. Might it have one of the older batteries that should be replaced?
    Thank you very much. VG

Playing any video regardless of source is one of the most processor-intensive tasks you can throw at a computer. The demands on the CPU and the graphics processor are high. I'm reasonable sure the heating you see is normal.
The case bottom is part of the heat dissipation system and is designed to get hot so air moving under the case takes away the heat. Apple recommends not using their notebook models in your lap without a lapboard because that blocks one of the main cooling systems.
Are you using an external monitor with the Powerbook's lid closed (clamshell more)?  If so, don't close the lid on the PowerBook; heat also escapes from the keyboard area
Notebooks in general run hot due to limited space inside that restricts the size fans that can be used. It's important to know that what "feels" hot is not necessarily dangerous to he computer. You need to get a temp monitoring utility to see actual numbers. Most notebooks will do a safety shutdown if the internal temps approach 100°C/212°F.
I like this free temp monitor:

  • How do you export to DVD?

I'm new to mac and final cut. I rendered a video but can't figure out how to get it onto a DVD. Makes me feel pretty stupid but I just can't figure this out. Can anyone tell me the process?

I assume you have Final Cut Studio. Here's an easy way to go.
If your sequence is edited and rendered in your timeline, just click on it to select it in the browser window. Then go to File/Export Using Compressor.
When Compressor opens, click on your sequence name to choose a setting. Choose DVD best quality, either 4:3 or 16:9, depending on the format of your sequence, and either 90, 120 or 150 minutes. Choose All, and then delete the AIFF audio track, leaving the Dolby 2.0 audio and the MPEG 2 video.
Next choose a destination folder for these files to go when Compressor has finished with them. Hit Submit, and wait.
Now you can open DVD Studio Pro, import your files, design a menu (or use one of the templates), and build and burn your disc.
You will probably have to look at the DVD Studio Pro manual a little to accomplish this, but it's not that hard.

  • HOW TO SEE CAPTIONS WITH DVD PLAYER?

In an effort to improve my Spanish, I have recorded a number of DVD's of TV programs that are in Spanish. Those TV programs put out captions on CC1 showing the Spanish words. After I recorded those programs I am able to see the program with its closed captions very clearly. Also, if I play a recorded DVD on my Windows PC on Real Player or Windows Media Player, the captions are visible. However, on my MacBook even though I activate captions under Features, I see no captions with DVDPlayer. I can get a separate caption window to come up, but no captions are shown. One help menu states that one can easily activate captions in System Preferences, but I find no reference to them even under Universal Access, Hearing. A search of System Prefs for "captions" yields no results.
Can anyone tell me how to get the captions to show? (The system is analog line 21 captions).
    Can
