How do I export to m4v (H.264)?

I am trying to export video which will play in flash 10, but I don't have adobe. I know that m4v will work, but I can't figure out how to export an m4v from Final Cut Pro 7.
Any advice?

you can select h.264 encoding in compressor or via QT conversion export.
Either method will produce a file with a .mov extension. You have to change the file extension to .flv for flash to see it properly I believe.

I need to export an M4V file for a website.
    or an OGV file
    Why don't I see either?
I know ipod is M4V (DRM) but its just exporting as an MP4.
Does anyone know how to do this in Premiere?
Im on the latest cloud version.
and have older desktop version ( i think version 6)

    Oh wait
    I see TWO files.
Please note, I only need video (for a website background)
    no sound
I exported the video with no sound and got two outputs
    what are they?
and which one would I use?
Should I assume to ignore the XMPSES file since this is not for a DVD?
and just use the M4v file in my WP website?

  • How should i export already h.264 compressed video/audio files after i edit them?

I am recording gameplay footage off computer with a program that compresses the video and audio. After I edit the footage how should i export it? I don't want to lose quality by double compressing it.

    No.
You need to explore Compound Clips. This workflow may or may not be of help.
Select an Event with clips in it and press Option+G to make a (blank) compound clip.
Select the Event Browser, create a new Event and call it 'Effects'.
Drag the Compound Clip into this Event.
Right-click the clip and select 'Open in Timeline'.
Select the timeline and press Option+W. This will add a Gap Clip to the timeline.
Select the gap clip and press Ctrl+D then type in the duration you want the clip to be.
Now open a project and select and copy one of the clips with effects etc.
Open the Compound Clip in the Timeline again, select the gap clip and press Option+Cmd+V to paste the effects into your Compound Clip.
This clip is now saved in your Browser and will remain there for you to copy and then paste the effects into any clip in any project.
It's a bit clunky, but it works - and once you learn about Compound Clips, you can work wonders with them. As an example, if you want to add more effects without overwriting the effects in the Compound Clip, simply make the Compound Clip into a Compound Clip (again) and add the effects. They will be added to the original effects.

  • Why does exporting to m4v take forever?

I've done a lot of QuickTime exporting and converting in my time and I just got a video iPod and would like to put a few videos on it but I can't for the life of me figure out why exporting to m4v takes so darned long. Anyone know? Exporting to huge file formats like .dv and such only take a minute or two, but my 20 meg .mov file takes almost an hour to convert to .m4v
    Any insight would be appreciated.
    Thanks.

    Check out this article.
    http://www.drunkenblog.com/drunkenblog-archives/000312.html
It explains a lot about how compression to H.264 works.
Also, look at it like this. If I asked you to pack an average sized dorm room into a dump truck, no sweat, just toss everything over the side and you're done. However, if you had to do the same thing with a Toyota Celica, it'd take you longer because you've got to make the best use of all the space, including under the seat and around the tire well.
QuickTime is also doing 2-passes over your media. After reading the above article, you'll see why this is a good thing. Since QuickTime doesn't allow you to choose a bitrate, I also figure that it's fitting your media as close to 768 kbps as possible and this would take some finagling too.
There ARE tools that are faster than QuickTime, but it seems that as speed increases, so does file size and file size directly affects battery life.

  • How can I export multiple language tracks?

I have a MOV video with two language tracks, English and German. I want to export the file to another format (m4v) or import to iTunes.
Whenever I export, I lose one of the audio tracks. How can I export both Audio Tracks?
    The video is H.264, 688 x 416, Millions
BOTH audio tracks are AAC, Stereo (L, R) 48.000 kHz
In the properties window, I selected (enabled) both audio tracks before exporting. And, in the "other settings" tab of properties, I set the language for each track, and I listed the "alternate" as the other language track.
Also when I imported the MOV into iMovie it only had the English track.
    Many thanks,

Whenever I export, I lose one of the audio tracks. How can I export both Audio Tracks?
Have not personally tried this, but you might try the Free HandBrake app. I have loaded a file with one active and one inactive audio track and found that HandBrake does see and allow you to select one, the other, or both tracks for processing. Did not actually bother to convert the tracks since they were already AAC and could be added individually to an MOV file using QT 7 "Pro" software.
Also when I imported the MOV into iMovie it only had the English track.
I believe iMovie "Finder" level import only allows one audio and/or one video track per file. You can, of course, extract the non-included track as an audio file, and add it to an iMovie project separately. However, be advised, that the audio tracks will be flattened/dowmixed to a single track during export which may not be what you want.

  • How can I export a slideshow from iPhoto 9.5.1 ..........

  • How can I import an m4v movie from my desktop to my event Library in iMovie?

How can I import an m4v movie from my desktop to my event Library in iMovie?  I want to include the m4v movie into another project in iMovie.

When you import DV Stream from tape, iMovie 11 will assume that you are importing raw footage from a camera, rather than a finished movie. It will create a new clip everytime it detects a scene break (the record start/stop button was pressed). These clips will be placed in chronolgical order - not the order they were on the tape.
One way around this is to import the tape into the application that you used to create it. For example, if you used iMovie 6, import the tape back into imovie 6. In iMovie 6, you can export the tape back out using FILE/EXPORT USING QUICKTIME. Choose the DV codec in an MOV container.  You can then import this MOV file into iMovie 11 and have everything in the proper order for your finished movie.
Another option is to use FInal Cut Pro X.

  • How can I export an imovie in a pc format?

How can I export an iMovie to a format that will work on a PC?

Easiest was is to install QuickTime for Windows (which is free from Apple) on the PC. Then any iMovie-created file will work.
If you do not have permission to install QuickTime for Windows on your PC (this could be the case for a corporate PC, for example), then I would suggest using SHARE/EXPORT USING QUICKTIME. Choose Movie to MP4. Choose h.264 for the video codec.

  • How can I export an image from Illustrator same canvas size and custom resolution?

Hey all.  i am using Adobe Illustrator CS5 for creating images for iPhone app icons the size of image 374 px 374 px and 264 ppi. i created an image same size and ppi .the problem after export the image file size changing to  1371px x 1371px and 264 ppi pixel dimension. How can I export same canvas size and same resolution file from illustrator

    10111980,
If you just forget about PPI and use Save for Web, you will get the 374 x 374 pixel size.
The 1371 x 1371 pixels is because you somehow increase the resolution by 264/72.
You should never mix pixel by pixel sizes and PPI.
The 374 x 374 pixels is the actual image size. At 264 PPI that will be about 1.417 inches. At 72 PPI that will be about 5.194 inches.

I'm going to save my old Hi8 tapes on a hard disk using final cut pro x, to save it for the future. But how shall I export it, and in what will be the best quality to save it in?

Hi Carsten...good luck with your project.. I had just about as many Video8 & Hi8 tapes as
you that I digitized and eventually brought into FCPX..took me many months not weeks
to do so,BTW, as each tape was 60-90 minutes in lenght...and many hundreds of
gigab ytes of storage ( uncompressed AVI files)..it's tedious work unless you plan to farm
it out to a processing house...also regarding eventual storage format...remember
Hi8 is 400 lines or about 540X480 in todays resoultion metrics..you can't make hi-def out
of source that starts out as 400 lines...in my case I rewrapped the avi files into .mov
containers and imported the mov files into FCPX where I got rid of the hundreds of
minutes of Colorado mountain landscapes to get to that one minute shot of the kids
on horseback  ( late 80's for most of my archives)..so its a job..scouring thru 30X90 min
of source to not miss those precious memories takes diligence and hard work but its worth
it; eventually I encode the uncompressed video I want to save in H.264 format Staandard
    Def not HiDef

How do I export a 98 min video edited in FCP 7 to IDVD for single disc DVD burning?

Your current settings should match the source material in your timeline. Though, it probably doens't matter what it is as long as your settings are not for a highly compressed format like h.264 or mpeg2.
iDVD should take any all "I" frame format and encode it. (All I frame formats include DV, DVCProHD, ProRes).

  • How can I export to a .sfw file? it does not give me the option in FILE EXPORT.

how can I export to a .sfw file? it does not give me the option in FILE > EXPORT. I have Flash installed and everthing.

The feature to export SWF files directly from After Effects has been removed. It never worked at all well.
To create SWF files, use Flash Professional.
If you want to play a movie that you've created in After Effects in a SWF container, then export your composition using Adobe Media Encoder in H.264 format and then link or embed that movie into a SWF file in Flash Professional.

  • How to setup/export highest quality?

New to Premiere and video editing. This is my first project. I could use some beginners advice on setting up/exporting frame size, dimensions, rate, etc.
I created some Premiere projects from some Mini DV footage I got transferred to .mov. I want finished movies to be the same dimensions.  File size isn't important - just max. quality. I just opened a new doc and used the default settings and did a bunch of editing until I liked it. I'm not sure if the ori. file size is 640 or 720. For export, I chose all the max. quality settings but my first finished export .mov showed unwanted lines (top image, bottom is original mov w/ info. Hosted version: http://postimg.org/image/yfx72o4nt/
How do I export a cleaner version? Do I need to change the Premiere project dimensions when starting a new project to match the original video, or can it be done after? (would like to salvage the hours of editing).
Here's a screen cap of the original mov with the default Premiere settings I used.

I thought maybe the original was 640x480 and because the default PP setting I used was likely something larger, there were lines because Premiere stretched it out. So, I'm just lucky the default settings are 640x480? I dont understand where the 720 number fits in on my examples above.
I believe your source is in fact 720x480. Your exported file is displayed in 640x480 in QT likely due to a crop applied.
    See:
    Clean Aperture Mode
An image’s clean aperture is a region of video free from transition artifacts caused by the encoding of the signal. This is the region of video that should be displayed.
In this mode, the video track is cropped to the Clean aperture mode and scaled according to the track’s pixel aspect ratio. For example, a 4:3 DV NTSC track appears as 640 x 480; a 16:9 DV NTSC track appears as 853 x 480.
Via: Final Cut Pro 7 User Manual
If you'd like to read up on pixel aspect ratios, check this out: Adobe Premiere Pro Help | Working with aspect ratios
Another noob question. Is there a keyboard shortcut for "go to end of project", or  "go to beginning"?  (like in Adobe Director) I dont see any playhead-like controls..
If you're talking about the beginning and end of a sequence, try hitting the 'Home' and 'End' keys on your keyboard for that.
Your export settings look fine to me. Couple more suggestions:
Have you tried playing back the exported file with any other applications? E.g. VLC media player?
Other formats you can try: AVI (Uncompressed) (watch out for file sizes) and H.264 with a NTSC DV preset (supports progressive).
It's been ages since I last worked with DV/interlaced footage though, so I'm afraid I'm outta my depth here!

When you preview the image from the save for web dialog box, it will open your browser to see the image. It also will have the necessary html code needed for the links to work. Just copy that html code and add it to your email code with the image.
