how do i factory reset my phone to get rid of the previous owner? I got this from a neighbor cause he upgraded to a iPhone 5 and gave me his iPhone 4 and I can not do anything as it wants his password to do any downloading for voxer or itunes i can do anything on there but download so he said i have to factory reset it how do i do that i am a totally stumped on this

Settings -> general -> reset -> erase all contents and settings.

Not sure. It may also have never been reported to AT&T as stolen.
It won't really matter. The hardware ID of the phone is associated with the Apple ID and password of the person who originally activated it. That is association is stored on Apple's activation servers and only the original owner can remove the association as discussed in the article you were reading. Until that happens, the activation server will not reactivate the phone without the proper Apple ID and password being entered. -

Unfortunately, you cannot do very much with your phone unless you get assistance from the previous owner, they should either provide you with the password to unlock it or remove their account from the phone entirely remotely through iCloud.com > Find My Phone. -

I recently bought a used iPod touch generation 5 and reset it (erased everything from it because the previous owner left a passcode on it) and I had to enter my language,wi-fi stuff, and then it said "Activate iPod" This iPod is currently linked to an Apple ID (c*****@k*****.net). Sign in with the Apple ID that was used to set up this iPod. The man who sold it to me said he bought it from another guy and sold it to me..So, I don't know what to do! I searched it up and it said you could go to iCloud and iTunes, but It's not working for me. Please help!!

Then, on the device...
Settings > Messages > iMessage > Off
Settings > FaceTime > Off
Settings > iCloud > (scroll down) Delete Accout (this only unregisters and deletes it off the device)
Settings > iTunes & App stores. Tap the AppleID and sign out.
Settings > General > Reset > Erase All Content and Settings

The phone was locked to a network which is why they jail broke it.. Not sure why as it's easier and cheaper to have the network unlock it!!! Which is what I would like to do. At the moment we can't upgrade any software... I'd like to honestly and respectfully use this phone...
euh no, that does not sound right. If you restore from back-up it will not fly.
a. You need to turn on iCloud if not done yet so it sync your contacts, calendar data, etc.
b. You need to back up in case something happens
c. Then restore
d. Then go on the app store, purchased, and re-download the app that you want
e. Then go on settings/iCloud and turn iCloud on with your Apple ID to put back your contacts, calendar data, etc.
That should be enough. -

You can de-authorise the old computer from the store menu in iTunes on that computer.
You can't de-authorise just the computers you no longer have access to.
Your only option is to de-authorise all your computers and then re-authorise those you wish to be authorised. You can do this by logging into your account settings in iTunes on your computer (Store > View My ID) and selecting the option to de-authorise all.
Please note however, you are only permitted to do this once in each 12 month period, therefore you would be better de-authorising your computers before you lose access to them. you can do this from the 'Store' menu in iTunes.
To copy your library to your iPad! connect it by USB, select it from the device list in iTunes and check the items you want to sync, then select sync. -
I cannot sync my ipod classic with this computer. For some reason, my computer will not authorize my ipod. I seem to have 5 usernames, but I only want to use one I use my ipod 4 my job; this is extremely frustrating. the serial # has been scratched off my ipod, so when I called support, I couldn't read it to the automated service accurately. It sounds like you have reached the authorization limit of 5 computers. So if you need to authorize another one, either deauthorize any other computers have authorized in the past that you still have physical access to or use the Deauthorize All option as described in this article.
