How do I fade down or up (not in and out) in the middle of a track?

Hvae cs5.5--need to fade music down and up in the middle of a track to accomodate speech. Seems like a really basic function but nothing coming up in the help files. Anyone?

There's various ways but search the help for "volume envelopes". That's probably the easiest. Basically it involves just clicking on a horizontal line running through the tracks in multitrack view. You drag the line upwards to increase the volume or down to decrease it--and you can be very precise about the amount of change and timing. The full procedure is described in details in the online user guide.
The other way would be to use the mixer and the "automation lanes", also described in detail in the help files--but this would likely be more tricky to learn and overkill for your needs.

This is becoming a daily event for me.
My work flow currently is something like this:
1) At the beginning of my work day, I review my e-mails and RSS reader for new messages to the Forums I monitor.
2) I'll usually find a couple to whichI feel I can contribute support.
3) I'll click on a link to fire up a browsers for a reply, since the e-mail reply feature is too buggy for my taste and there is yet any other type of replacement for NTTP type interactions.
4) Since it is usually about 24 hours since I last logged into the Forums, I am usually still logged in. So I click a "Reply" link and bring up the form to post a message.
5) During the time I am composing the message my 24 hour login period expires. When done typing, I click the "Post Message" control and boom. I am told I can not post a message. That I must login again.
Fine, I need to login again, but that message that I may have spent quite some effort composing is GONE! I can not click the back button to retrieve it because of the DHTML nature of the message form. The login process does not remember my post. It is just gone and I have to re-compose it after I login again.
This is just a really poor user experience.

Please try going to your settings area of your display. Click on General and go to 'reset all settings'

Okay, I left off a lot of important information...
I'm using two tables
TWDATA
EVENT
From TWDATA I'm pulling the fields TWDATA.OrderNumber and TWDATA.DisbursementDate
From EVENT I'm pulling the fields EVENT.EventCode and EVENT.CompletedDate
The two tables are linked by OrderNumber.

How do I uninstall an app entirely, not just deleting it from the Launchpad? I've delete the app at the Launchpad, but the remaining files of it are taking up space in my macbook. How do I do that?

As Cunnla says, the best way to remove an application and all auxiliary files associated with it is to use a developer supplied uninstaller or, lacking that, directions on uninstalling from the developer. Unfortunately, there are a number of applications which have no developer uninstaller nor instructions.
Some won't recommend it, but I use AppDelete for those apps with no instructions. It gets rid of most auxiliary files and I've never had a problem with it. I just make certain that the auxiliary files that AppDelete selects are, in fact, associated with the application.

I tried to delete the layer attempt again. I am in a Photoshop class, but the work is all online, so all my teacher is going to do is send me to this site. I am trying to edit a photo for this class, and without this working, i go to filter>render>light effects. the bar and panel will pop up for about 2 seconds, then disappear. How do i get the options bar and properties panel to display?

I was about to suggest resetting LE from the Workspace drop-down top right corner, but if you can't see the Options Bar, I guess that is not going to happen. The normal Tool reset is grey out for LE, so it might be a case of resetting Preferences.

Each of you should set up your separate iCloud account on your own computer using your Apple ID. This gives you two independent iCloud accounts.
Note that an iPad is not a multi-user device. It can only be synced with one account.

Are you editing a local document or a Acrobat.com document?
If you are using Preview to open the document that you emailed to yourself, you will not see the added annotations. This is a limitation in Preview.
If you open the same pdf in Adobe Reader app, you would see the added annotations saved in the pdf file.

Please read this whole message before doing anything.
This procedure is a diagnostic test. It’s unlikely to solve your problem. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
The purpose of the test is to determine whether the problem is caused by third-party software that loads automatically at startup or login, by a peripheral device, by a font conflict, or by corruption of the file system or of certain system caches.
Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed for the test, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards, if applicable. Start up in safe mode and log in to the account with the problem. You must hold down the shift key twice: once when you turn on the computer, and again when you log in.
Note: If FileVault is enabled, or if a firmware password is set, or if the startup volume is a Fusion Drive or a software RAID, you can’t do this. Ask for further instructions.
Safe mode is much slower to start up and run than normal, with limited graphics performance, and some things won’t work at all, including sound output and Wi-Fi on certain models. The next normal startup may also be somewhat slow.
The login screen appears even if you usually login automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin.
Test while in safe mode. Same problem?
After testing, restart as usual (not in safe mode) and verify that you still have the problem. Post the results of the test.

You are not going to be able to run your old system from the backup on this old computer as the hardware is incompatible.
You need to get a new computer or a refurbished one.
