How do I figure out why iPhoto e-mail isn't working?

I have used the e-mail within iPhoto for a long time and I've never had a problem. I use it usually to e-mail photos to myself for a particular purpose. Now all of a sudden, I can't get it to e-mail anything. I have tried re-starting the application and re-starting my computer. When I put my inputs in and click, "Send," the status bar shows, "Sending," but it never finishes, then I get an error that says, "Your email did not go through because the server did not reply. Check your internet connection. If the connection is working properly, the email server may be down. Try sending your email again later."
Just to make sure there is no problem with my e-mail, I went into the e-mail program and sent an e-mail exactly the same way I am attempting to from within iPhoto (same e-mail addresses used), and my tests go through with no problem. I don't understand why iPhoto is having trouble with this.
This just further exacerbates my annoyance that iPhoto started this whole "e-mailing from within iPhoto" thing a couple years ago. Before that, I was able to do the thing I am trying to do with much greater ease. I basically just need "medium" sized photos rather than these super large photo file sizes that iPhoto has. If I choose the "medium" size for e-mail, it's the perfect size. Before iPhoto changed, and it was integrated with the actual Mail application, I wouldn't have to send the photos to myself. It would put the photos into an e-mail, then I could just save those photos to my desktop. So you can see why it's so annoying that I feel stuck with this lack of being able to e-mail when all I really need are the "medium" sized photos!
Thanks if you can help.
Melanie

But it is a better solution for me because, if you read my last paragraph of my original post, you'll see that's all I wanted to do in the first place. Having to e-mail photos was already not ideal for what I wanted/needed to do. So exporting to my desktop is actually a much better solution than e-mailing the photos to myself. I have no idea why I didn't think of it before.
I did go in and check my e-mail client preferences in iPhoto and there's no reason it shouldn't be working. I don't know why it's not working but I don't care anymore. If I need to e-mail photos sometime in the future (it's something I almost never do), I'll address the problem again then (if it's still a problem).
Larry, I really appreciate you trying to help me. Thank you.

  • Can't figure out why Music on Hold isn't working

This is my first time trying to set up MoH.  I am using CUCM 8.6.  Here is what I have done so far.
Uploaded a file and it converted into 4 files called MoH_female
Configure MoH Audio Source Config,  MoH_female, Play continously and All Multi--casting  boxes are checked
Configured MoH server (MoH_2) with multicasting on 239.1.1.1, shows Multicast Audio Source file as MoH_female
Configured Media Resource Group with MoH_2 as Selected Media Sources (named Madison Media Group)
Configured Media Resource Group List with Madison Media Group as Selected Media Resource Grouip (named Madios Media List)
On the Phones I set User MoH Audio Source to MoH_female.
When I call from 5003 to 5001 and put the call on hold all I here is the three beeps.  What am I missing or doing wrong?

    Michael,
Going back to the original question. There are two things I would like to dive into if I may. First, if you enabled multicast correctly on the CUCM then you would receive silence on the phone that was put on hold (the held party, if you will). You will get Tone on Hold (TOH, or 3-beeps) if one of the following is true:
    1. Your MOH is only provisioned for one codec and the region setting for the held party mandates use of a different codec. For instance, if MOH is using G711 and the remote party is in a different region than MOH AND that region is provisioned to use G729 (which is the default behavior).
    2. You neglected to upload the MOH file to ALL MOH servers in the cluster.
This last item (#2 above) gets to to the second thing I want to dive into. If you upload a custom MOH file, you first do it on the publisher node. That allows you to use that file as an audio source and associate devices to that audio source. However, you still need to go to each CUCM node that is a MOH server and upload the same audio source file. It is not replicated.
To upload the file, simply repeat the same process you used for the Publisher node but go to the IP of the Subscriber that is the MOH server.
Reviewing and addressing the above points should get you past the TOH issues. However, if you have not enabled multicast in your network then you haven't solved the whole problem. You may still receive no music (and no tone). If you see this occurring then you know you have an infrastructure issue that you need to address.
This gets you into the line of thinking (at least partly) that islam.kamal was talking about. At a minimum you need to enable multicast routing on all L3 switches/routers in your network. At least the ones that service subnets where you want to stream music (i.e. phone VLANs, voice gateways, etc.).  Then, on each layer 3 interface (SVI or physical) that services a voice network AND on every layer 3 interface in the stream's path (WAN, LAN, etc.) you will need to enable PIM. You will also want to enable PIM on loopback interfaces in your voice GW if you have them provisioned to use loopback interfaces.
As far as PIM dense mode vs. sparse mode vs. sparse-dense and auto-rp, etc. That is a pretty involved discussion. Don't go slamming mcast into your network without having a good handle on the key concepts first.
Last point. I don't think you need to reboot servers and restart services. Though you may need to activate IPVMS on any server you want to act as a MOH server.
I know it sounds like a lot of moving parts. That's because it is but there is a method to the madness.
    HTH.

  • I am trying to figure out why my Apple ID is not working properly.

So at first i was trying to install some new apps from the app store on my iphone 4. And a message box kept popping up saying i needed to "agree to itunes terms of use" and so i would click on it so that i could agree and there was a little box that said "send to email" so i tried clicking on it and nothing would pop up, it was as if it wasnt even a button. So i tried scrolling all the way to page 52 and there was no button that said "agree" or anything like that. So just now i created a new apple ID and i deleted my old icould account and then i signed in the apple store with my new apple ID and password. So then i proceeded to install an app from the itunes store so i typed in my new ID and password and then a little message box popped up saying "This Apple ID has not yet been used in the Itunes store" so i click "review" and it says to choose my country and click next so i click United States and i scroll down but theres no "next" button. like its just blank.
    can someone please help me...

Go To:  Settings > General > Usage
This page lists all of the apps that are on your phone, and shows you how much space each is using.  It shows 10 apps, and at the bottom of the list is an option to "Show all Apps."  In addition, they are listed in order of the amount of storage space they are using.
If you select each individual app by clicking on the ">" beside it, the next page shows the info for just that app, including the name, version, App size, and amount of storage space used by Documents and Data associated with it.  You also have the option there to Delete the App.

  • Can't figure out why F4 produces Command-C

I've got a Mac Pro with a Matias keyboard running Snow Leopard.  It all works well but I recently decided to figure out why my F4 key doesn't work properly in the few applications that would use it.  My keyboard doesn't have a fn key and my function keys don't do hardware controls like volume and brightness by default.  The only key I'm having a problem with is F4.  What I've found is that F4 always generates a Command-C (Copy) no matter what program is active.
I tried mapping it with Butler but even Butler tells me I pressed Command-C and not F4.
I tried shutting down Butler since it's the only key-mapping tool I have running.
I looked through all the keyboard shortcuts in the keyboard preference pane and nothing is mapped to F4.
I thought perhaps my keyboard was doing something funky so I plugged in two other keyboards including a recent Apple flat style keyboard and they both produce Command-C too.  It must be something in my system but I can't figure it out.
Anyone have any ideas how I can figure out why F4 is producing Command-C?

Select the text, and open the Appearance palette (Come on guys, text highlight is irrelevant, it happens to objects too says the OP), and see what's listed there.  For a simple text object, there should only be a line item "Type", followed by "Characters", and when double-clicked the Characters line item expands to tell you the stroke and fill color.  For a basic object, there should be a fill and/or stroke.
What happens sometimes, is that you end up adding extra strokes/fills to objects or text, and the appearance palette is where that will be noted.  Especially when you are dealing with groups, and/or picking up a color with the eyedropper, you may inadvertently be adding a fill or stroke on top of something.  You can drag those unwanted thingies from the Appearance palette into its own little trash can.

  • How do I figure out the size of an image in my iPhoto. How do I know if it is Kilobytes or megabytes. I assume Megabytes are larger than kilobytes and gigabytes are largest.

How do I figure out the size of an image in my iPhoto. Soe applications require a certain size and I have no way of knowing what they are.
Please confirm that Kilobytes are smaller than megabytes and gigabytes are the largest.

You're correct, Kilobytes are smaller than megabytes and gigabytes are the largest.
When you attach the images to an email, look on the bottom line for the total size of the email.  You can also change the image from Actual size to medium or small.

  • Can't figure out why green screen is pixelating!

I had terrible problems with square pixelating on my production.
any ideas on what caused this... we played with saturations all day with no effect. I did have a empty green "last frame". It seemed nothing we could do would help!
I filmed with a Sony DCR-SR68 HandyCam in the highest quality and the background I chose from a Free Use source for greenscreen back grounds online.
I hope you can give me some insight here...every tutorial i have watched made green screen in iMovie look very simple... and yet we could not figure out why this pixelation was occurring!
    reasons i wondered about:
    green screen is too light?
...however i have seen screens look a lot worse and work
something to do with how i am filming?
...i realized that "facial recognition" was turned on which caused the camera shot
to move a little as i moved
am i too close to screen?
...i was about a foot away from screen (but no shadows) and camera was about a yard in front of
    me
if anyone wants same rendering or screen shots let me know and I can email some!
Let me know what you think and if you need anymore info!
Thanks in advance for all your help!

    Earl...
I know you said you reformatted the drive but just in case, how much free space on the startup disk?
Right or control click the MacintoshHD icon. Click Get Info. In the Get Info window you will see Capacity and Available. Make sure you have a minimum of 15% free disk space.
    fresh install of 10.4.7
Most recent version for Tiger is v10.4.11. Have you tried updating the software from the Apple menu > Software Update?

  • Newbie: Can't figure out why GUI is freezing

Hello, I am trying to make my very first program with Swing, and I cannot figure out why it freezes and what I need to do to prevent that from happening. This program simulates this game of life. If a button is selected (alive) and 2 or 3 (only) buttons surrounding it are also selected, then the button selected gets to stay selected. Otherwise it dies. Also, if an empty button is surrounded by exactly 3 selected button, it also becomes alive. Here is the code:

  • Can't figure out why I'm dropping frames during capture

I'm dropping frames when capturing 1-hour Mini DV tapes and I can't figure out why.
I'm capturing on a Mac Pro (Early '08) with 8 GB of memory running FCP 7.0.3 and OS X 10.6.6. I'm capturing to a 4 TB G-Speed eS (eSATA) formatted as RAID 5 (Non-Journaled Extended) with about 750 GB of remaining space. I'm capturing via FireWire with a Canon GL-2. This should be a breeze for this system.
I've run Apple Disk Utility, Disc Warrior 4 and Techtool Pro 5 on the drives and they seem to be fine. I've unplugged all USB and FireWire devices besides the keyboard and mouse. No virus protection or background utilities are running. I've trashed preferences. AJA System Test shows a 286 MB/s write speed and 254 MB/s read speed. Blackmagic Disk Speed Test shows a 312 MB/s write speed and a 379 MB/s read speed. No other applications besides FCP are running. I edit 1080p HD footage on this system all day long with no issues but when I try to capture DV SD footage, I run into issues.
The dropped frames error does not ever occur in the same place on the tapes. The tapes are brand new and don't seem to have any time code issues. The only thing I haven't done is to defragment the hard drives. I wouldn't think that capturing simple DV video would be that demanding; the defragment for a 4 TB RAID would likely take 2 or 3 days.
Any other ideas on what's going on and how to try to fix it? Thanks!

Thanks for the prompt reply, Studio X. Yes, I'm using FireWire Basic and no other FireWire devices. I've switched FireWire cables, although I doubt that's the issue as the cable I was using was brand new and fit snuggly. Unfortunately, I don't have an alternate playback device right now. Would switching to Non-controllable device capture settings be worth a try?

  • I have an iphone5 that is eating up data time and I can't figure out why? Any thoughts?

I have an iphone5 that is eating up data time and I can't figure out why? Any thoughts? I have closed everyting I can, even took the phone to Verizon and they are not sure what is going on.   My company email is active and pushes to the phone....I use Safari regularly to look up stuff for personal and work use.  I am on Facebook but have turned it off in notifications.  Four phones and a hotspot on the account....we have 6g and have never come close to it, until lately and it's my phone that's eating up the gigs.  So what the heck is going on?

Go to Settings/Cellular and you can see how much data each app is using. You can Reset Statistics, then track all of the apps data usage.

  • Slow ripping speed - can't figure out why....

When ripping at aac 128 or 160, I only get speeds up to 5x or 7x (depending if it's the beginning of the CD or the end). I cannot figure out why this is:
--The drive is rated at 24x read speed
--This happens with every CD I try
--The setting for both IDE contollers are DMA
--The processor is Core Duo at 1.83. When ripping only 50 to 70 percent of the processor is used.
    --7200 rpm hard drive
    --1 gig ram
    --error correction is not enabled
    --no other programs are running
Another problem is that while ripping, the computer becomes extremely slow - I can't even type! When I press a key it takes half a second for that letter to show up!
I have had other computers with much slower specs that ripped CDs to iTunes much quicker. What can this be??
Someone please help me, I have been trying for a while to get to the bottom of this, and I think I may be losing my mind.....
    Thank you....

  • Can't figure out why "Offline" Pls -Help!

I am running a HP Officejet Pro k5400 Series on a network through a print server running Windows Server 2008 64bit. I have the printer installed and configured and was working fine however, now it is offline and I cannot figure out why.  I have redirects and they work fine.  The diagnositc shows that it is fine and "ready".  Yet if I try to print to the actual printer, not one of the redirects, I eventually get a message that the printer is offline.  If it's a network issue then the redirects shouldn't be working either!  What am I missing?????

Here is a good article on things you can do.http://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-4032 You should back up your drive in case you need to do a clean install. Adding more ram can also help. Check in disk utilities and repair permissions. Also look and see how much free space you have. As a rule the minimum is 10%, more is better.  If you have some large apps putting them on an external dive can free up you start up volume.

  • Can't figure out why my iMac is so slow

My 2.16 Intel Core 2 Duo iMac has suddenly slowed to a crawl, and I can't figure out why.  Opening anything (including a Finder window) results in a 30 second to 5 minute lag.  I've seen the spinner more in the last month than I did in the previous 4+ years of owning it.
Since it's my spare machine now, I completely re-formatted the hard drive and did a fresh install of 10.4.7 from the discs it shipped with.  I have run the Apple Hardware Test, and everything tests OK.  Disk Utility tells me there's nothing wrong with the disk, and all permissions are good.  What am I missing?
