How do I find a 32 bit kernel in order to install an application??

I am trying to install a firmware update for my camera and it will not install unless I use a 32 bit kernel. I am stumped on how to do it.

Holding both the 3 and 2 keys down during boot should work.  You probably should push them immediately after the boot chime like most (all?) other boot key combinations.
Starting up with the 32-bit or 64-bit kernel

  • How do I find the .iso file from my windows 7 install disk?

I am trying to install windows 7 on my new macbook air. I have a copy of windows7 install disk but as there is no cd drive I am having difficulty. I cannot figure out how to find the .iso file to put on a usb in order to install it.
    Can anyone help please?

Welcome to the Apple Support Communities
You can only get Windows 7 on a ISO file if you purchased Windows 7 from the Microsoft Store as a download, so this option isn't available for you.
In your case, I recommend you to get an external optical drive (any external optical drive will work) and install Windows from the DVD. Doing this, you will save headaches

  • How do I find a game the app store says is installed on my computer?

I'm just learning to use my MacBook Pro.  I don't understand many of the terms used.  I purchased a Marjong game from the App Store.  When I go to the App store, there is a little box that says "Installed".  OK...... but how do I find it on my Pro?

  • How do I find a printer driver from a vendor's install?

I have a Brother P-Touch 2700 label maker. I downloaded and installed the OS X 10.5.x printer driver from the Brother site. It came as a .dmg file. The P-Touch Editor installed separately. When started, it claims the driver is not installed. It's not in the list of installed printers either.
I'm guessing it's not where the Editor expects to find it. How do I find the driver? I've looked in Library>Printers>Brother. To confuse matters, I also have a Brother laser printer.
The Brother support folks have not yet responded to my question.
    Any help appreciated.

That seems to be a common error and seems to be mostly associated with HP printers.
I found any number of people asking about it, for many different makes and models. No one seemed to have a solution, though.
Try resetting the printing system. See http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?path=Mac/10.6/en/14001.html
I notice that item is for 10.6. I'm using 10.5.8. Also, it seems like a drastic solution.
Try adding the printer when logged in to an administrator's account rather than your standard account.
I tried that first. I even downloaded new copies of the editor and the printer drivers. But the printer didn't appear in the list. Oops. I just realized I didn't use the shown command suggested earlier, to fix the permissions. Gotta do that.

  • How do I find the SID of an Oracle 8.0 install ?

I have a Win NT that acts as the Domain in our LAN
+ 3 Win 98 boxes , that need to get to the Oracle
database situated on the Win NT machine.
I tried creating the service using Net8 Assistant
on the Win98 machine from which I type this,
then I noticed they asked me for the SID and Hostname
    of the Server.
I knew the Hostname of the Server , but not the SID.
So I went upto the server and checked for the init*.ora
file . If my SID was LOOKBOSS , then I guess the init*.ora
file would be named initLOOKBOSS.ora , but :
    I found 2 files : -
    o initorcl.ora
    o initseed.ora
Both files being exact replicas of the other and each claiming
    to be the init.ora !
I tried out some other utility (I do not re-collect the name) ,
that said that I have only 1 hos t configured ...
so where did this init-orcl thing come from ?
Now I tried passing seed as the SID at my Win98 box and was
scolded by Net8 Assistant which said that it could not connect.
I also tried orcl as the SID .
Now please can somebody please tell me how I can find out the SID
    from the Serer ?
    Regards,
    Shyam

    Hi Shyam,
Go to the sqlplus session in the server itself, and cdonnect as system/manager. At the SQL prompt, select name from V$database. This is the name of the ORACLE S
ID running on your machine. Ideally if you have opted for the default database installation while installing the product/database, the file name should be initorcl.ora and the SID would be orcl.
Hope this sorts out your problem.
    Cheers.

  • How to define 64 or 32 bit version of Photoshop is installed on computer?

    Hi,
Is there way to determinate (from registry for example) 64 or 32 bit version of Photoshop is installed on computer?
Both versions (32 and 64 bit) have identical records in registry.
    Dmitry

If you are a 64 bit app you can see both the 32 and 64 bit parts of the registry. See the WOW64 section for the 32 bit entries. If you are a 32 bit process you should only see the 32 bit side of the registry.
The interesting keys would be here
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Adobe\Photoshop\12.0\
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Adobe\Photoshop\12.0\
If you can find the second key then you are a 64 bit machine and the wow6432 is where the 32 bit version is and the other key is where the 64 bit version is. If you only find the first key you are 32 bit version and that is where the 32 bit version is. This is in theory as what happens if a user only installs the 64 bit version.
    What I do is...
If I want to launch 32 I run cscript out of windows\syswow64. The 32 bit version of cscript.
If I want to launch 64 I run cscript out of windows\system32. The 64 bit version of cscript.
Which is pretty funny given the names of the folders!
The type of user running the program of course plays into this as well. I am an Administrator and have that pesky 'are you sure you want to do something' dialog boxes OFF.
I also think you can look at some environment variables to see if you are 32 running on a 64 bit os. But I have not played with those much. Here are some interesting ones from my machine.
    PROCESSOR_ARCHITECTURE=AMD64
    ProgramFiles=H:\Program Files
    ProgramFiles(x86)=H:\Program Files (x86)
    ProgramW6432=H:\Program Files

  • What is and how do I find my gplayer? so that I can install my flash player completely.

how do i find and what is an gplayer

I'm sorry for taking you to task on that response, Sunil_Bhaskaran, but if the OP is referring to the gplayer.exe related to Exent Technologies then it could very well be installed on a Windows system.
The OP did not use upper-case lettering and I am surprised you did not first confirm what the OP was actually asking about, even if you deem there is no connection to your company's product.
In fact, on this one I would have stepped very carefully as there is, if I recall correctly, a G-Player (used with a hyphen) that is also a product that can be installed on both Mac and Windows units.
I hope I'll be forgiven as I'm new around here due to another issue, but it just seems that tech folks are supposed to be mighty careful so the trust factor doesn't become an issue.

  • How can I force the Creative Cloud Manager to detect previously installed CC applications.

Being a tester of Windows 10, I frequently have issues with updates and have to completely reinstall windows, this means that I lose my CC installs if I don't keep them on a separate drive.
However, the issue is that if I do keep them on a separate drive, the CC manager can't detect that they're there. And I don't expect it to magically know that the files are there, I understand that the registry entries are no longer there, and whatnot. But I at least expect that it checks for the files when you go to install the application. It doesn't seem to do this and just overwrites the entire thing.
This may not be an issue for many people, but being Australian, with the government doing everything it can to slow down the internet, it takes a very long time to install 6 or 8 adobe programs for which the files already exist. All the while the internet is basically unusable.
How can I communicate to CC that these applications still exist.

While your answer feels like speculation, it wouldn't surprise me if it were the case, but what a feeble system it is if there's no way for it to be shown existing files.
Especially considering that you can launch the applications from the exe without them being "installed", they still communicate with the CC manager and are allowed to run.

  • How to change Finder View Arrange Date Created sort order

When yoo go to a list of photos in a file under Finder, they can be sorted in different ways, but the most common one for me is by Date Created.  That's all good, but they come out with the latest date first on the list and the earliest at the bottom.  I prefer the opposite to be ideal, but I can find no way or information on how to reverse the sort order.  Any help out there? Thanks.

    Hi, Richard -
Look for a small triangle in the column's title bar/button. Click on that triangle - it should switch from pointing down to pointing up (or vice versa), indicated the sort order has been reversed.

  • How do I find the bookmarks file when I can not load the application? I.e., I can not get to the library.

My laptop died. The hard drive is in a case and accessible. It is connected to a 10 year old Pentium. How can I retrieve the bookmarks file from the Laptops drive when I can not load Firefox from that drive? I.e., I can not get to the library on the Laptop drive. I do have full access to it.

You can locate main bookmarks file, '''places.sqlite''', for restoration in another Firefox install, in your profile directory.
Since you profile is on another hard drive, the normal shortcuts to find it won't work.
On Windows XP, you can find the profile here:
    ''C:''\Documents and Settings\''Windows login/user name''\Application Data\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\''xxxxxxxx.default''
    Where:
    * C:\ is replaced by the drive letter you mounted the laptop drive on.
    * Windows login/username is replaced with your windows user name you used on that hard drive.
    * xxxxxxxx.default is replaced with 8 random characters followed by .default, and should be the only folder in Profiles.
Once you've found the old profile, you can copy files over to a new profile. See https://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Profiles#How_to_find_your_profile and [[Recovering important data from an old profile]] for other files you may want to restore.

  • How do you find a stolen iphone if you did not install find my iphone?

I have had my iphone stolen at the YMCA today. I am wondering if I can find my iphone without the use of the app find my iphone. I don't quite remember if I turned on the find my iphone service in the iCloud settings and i did not install the find my iphone app. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Look for it. But you cannot find it unless you activated Find My Phone.
What To Do If Your iDevice Is Lost Or Stolen
If you activated Find My Phone before it was lost or stolen, you can track it only if Wi-Fi is enabled on the device. What you cannot do is track your device using a serial number or other identifying number. You cannot expect Apple or anyone else to find your device for you. You cannot recover your loss unless you insure your device for such loss. It is not covered by your warranty.
If your iPhone, iPod, iPod Touch, or iPad is lost or stolen what do you do? There are things you should have done in advance - before you lost it or it was stolen - and some things to do after the fact. Here are some suggestions:
This link, Re: Help! I misplaced / lost my iPhone 5 today morning in delta Chelsea hotel downtown an I am not able to track it. Please help!, has some good advice regarding your options when your iDevice is lost or stolen.

  • How can I find out what extensions (not plugins) are currently installed using JavaScript?

I am creating a JavaScript module which detects if a Firefox extension is installed in the client's browser.
I can check if a Firefox plugin is installed by querying navigator.plugins object, but I can't figure out how to do this for extensions.

You can't check for extensions that are installed.<br />
Plugins can be detected via navigator.plugins as you posted, but you can't detect extensions for privacy and security reasons.
It the past it was possible to check for images added by an extension, but that access was blocked.

  • How can I find out where certain prompts are used in a BI application?

    I have 2 questions...
How do I identify all the dashboards where a specific object from my catalog is used in a BI application?
Similiarly, how can I determine all the reports and prompts that use a specific field from my subject area?
    Thanks,
    Darcy

Open catalog manager and create a report. That report can include column formula(field), table, catalog name and etc and will create a report that you can download to an excel dump giving all the reports and report paths that use those selected attributes.
Open catalog manager--> go to tools--> create report and select all you need
    Hope it helps
    thanks
