How do I find a folder within a folder?
Some of my folders have disappeared. I can search for an e-mail within the folder, and the location lists the correct name of the folder. However, I cannot figure out how to find that folder so I can access it. Is there a way to trace where an e-mail is stored, or see a tree of folders that an e-mail is stored in? I'm using a MAC if if helps.
Matt, Thanks for the comment. I pasted the code into the error console and after clicking on Evaluate, nothing happened. Maybe I did something wrong?

How to create nested folders (i.e. a folder within a folder)
I was reading the booklet which came with iWork 08 and noticed (in a screen dump showing how to import images from iPhoto to Pages) a 'twisty' against an iPhoto folder. This (to me) implied that I can have a folder within a folder. i.e. I could have a 'Holidays' folder, then within there one for 'South Africa trip' and another for 'France trip' etc...etc...
I went into iPhoto this morning, but can find no way of doing this. I tried dragging and dropping, but the folders are all at the same level - i.e. the top level.
The help system actually said I could do this - but not how to do it.
Can someone enlighten me please? I'm sure it's something simple!
ThanksAlasdair
It certainly is possible to have nested folders and drag and drop is the way to do it.
IF D&D isn't working, try quit iPhoto and launch it again. Then try once more.

How do you create a new folder within a folder?
... without having to create it and drag and drop??
A new folder is created in the currently open folder.
I'm assuming you are trying to create a new folder in List view. The new folder will be created in the folder which that the open window represents.
If you want to create a folder within another folder, you must open that folder in icon view or select the new parent folder in column view. -

My PC cradeshed so using another family member's pc in the home - downloaded iTunes - how do I find my existing playlist within my iTunes account? Help needed not very comptuer literate
When yoou say "backup copy" of your computer - do you mean I "should" have a memory stick/cd that I "should" have copied my purchased music onto?
Shouldn't I be able somehow to go into my iTunes account and see the purchased music I have purchased and download all of it again?
Thankyou for your response! -

How can I find music in iTunes media folder not included in my library
How can I find the items that are in iTunes music media file but are not currently in my library? There is 7.5G and 1623 items in the music media file but only 5.95G and 1280 items in my library. If I try add the media file to my library it duplicates. So how to find which files are missing from the library and only add those to my library?
Try using a software that its designed to find duplicates, such like these: http://www.howtogeek.com/201007/how-to-find-and-remove-duplicate-files-on-mac-os -x/
Search and proceed to do the deletions, copy or cuts necessary -

Connect your device to your computer and open itunes. Click on the device to show the device information. Click on 'Serial Number' to show the Identifier (UDID) instead.

Creating a folder, within a folder
I've dumped my PC for a Mac, so still a noob!
How can I create a folder, from within a folder using Finder? Every time I do, it creates the folder at the root, and I then have to move the folder to the desired location? I'm obviously missing something!
ThanksSince you're a noob, see these:

ITunes created a second "Music" folder within root folder
I've had pretty fair luck for years with iTunes, and then today hit several snags. I had some settings go South on me after some resets from iPhone issues.
Today I noticed that when I added a new song file to the library, it was copying the file into the designated Media Folder (I use the "Music" folder) but leaving an original in its original folder. Copying instead of moving the file. Previously when I did this, the files would be moved into the Music folder and be organized into artist sub-folders, and there wouldn't be another copy left behind in the original folder.
So I tried to "Organize Library" and it went through the entire library, created a new "Music" folder into which it put some (not all) songs and files into new subfolders.
Now I have a "Music" folder with lots of empty folders (but not all, so I can't just delete them all without openoing each one first) and another "Music" folder within that folkder with a bunch of new sub-folders.
Additionally, my poriginal issue is still present, it is copying, not moving files when I add them to the library.
Any thoughts?I found and answered your post in the other thread regarding the extra layer of folders but it looks like you've moved on already.
Perhaps my script ConsolidateByMoving will do what you're after with regard to moving files in this thread.

Is there a way I can create a folder within another folder on mac?
I am trying to create a folder within folder. Ex: Vacation Photos > Vacation Year > Vacation Spots ( not of photos ) but like document files. Better example I am taking an IT class and we have different units 1-10 I would like a folder for each unit under my IT document EX: IT 133 > Unit 1 > Unit 2 etc. Thanks in advance.

Cannot open a new bookmark folder within a folder
cannot open a new bookmark folder within an existing folder. when I hold the control key and click on the existing folder it opens all the bookmarks in that folder.
A possible cause is a problem with the file places.sqlite that stores the bookmarks and the history.

If I have a folder within a folder how can I keep both open at the same time?
I now have IOS 10.10.1 on my iMac and can no longer open a file within a file and have the main file remain open along with the inner file. I used to be able to do this in Lion.
Darpa,
I don't know if this is what your looking for but here you go.
To make it so that when you double click a folder it opens in a new window you have to turn off or hide the toolbar. To do so:
Open a Finder window > Select "View" from the menubar > select "Hide Toolbar"
Keyboard shortcut to do the same as above is ( Command ) ( Option ) ( T )
Now every folder you double click on will open in a new window.
It should remember that you elected to not have the Toolbar show and every time you open a new window it will be the same.
To change back Do the same except instead of "Hide Toolbar" it will say "Show Toolbar"
Hope that helps,
Weston
