How do i find a newer version of itunes for my system?

i have Mac OS X version 10.2.8.
and I tunes 4
i'd like to upgrade so i can have podcast etc but haven't a clue how to do it!

The last version that runs on OS X 10.2.8 is iTunes 6.0.5.
If you don't have an iPod with Nike support, 6.0.4 will do too.
If you have other computers that can't upgrade to iTunes 6 and also have purchased music, don't upgrade to a version higher than 5.0.1.
This is from the iTunes 6 'readme':
"Note: After purchasing music from the iTunes Music Store with iTunes 6 or later, you will also need to upgrade your other computers that purchase music from the iTunes Music Store to the latest version of iTunes."

Ummm I'm not really sure to be honest here,But let me give you some backround of what happened. Basically my sister took my iPod touch (3rd generation I believe it is) and restored and updated the condition of it and made it up to date. When I tried to plug it in my PowerBook the iTunes thing came up and it said "the iPod cannot be used because it requires iTunes version 10.6.3 or later" and yeah that's all I got for you.

I really almost no experience with this but from casual reading I suspect he may be in a bind. 10.2 is relatively long in the tooth in the OSX world and I think the new iPods really require you have the OS to run the iTunes they want. I see posts about people upgrading to Tiger so they can run their ipods and I think that's the story.

A little window pops up saying "The file 'iTunes Library .itl' cannot be read because it was created by a newer version of iTunes . I want to open it so I can fix some things but it won't open . Looks like you had installed newer version before, uninstall it - but not completely, and than intalled the older version again.I had this issue before. I had to completly uninstall the newer version through control panel, and than perfom search for itunes for all folders and manually delete all other itunes files. Once all this is done you should be able to install again. Hopefully this will solve the problem.

I must say that I am constantly disappointed with my iphone and how it updates for newer versions of itunes.
It seems that every time i get a new version, I am having to restore my phone after each download from apple. this is extremely time consuming and down right annoying.

After downloading the new update on Saturday 11-27-10 my iphone now freezes up, I contacted the help line and they informed me for a "small fee" of $30.00 they would tell me how to fix it. WHAT?? The store recommends the updates and after loading the updates, my phone now wants to freeze up and stay frozen for 30 minutes and it is constantly asking me for my password and you want to charge me for a bug in your software?? I know I'm not the only one when I say that iTunes is by far one of the slowest programs on my computer. I'm running Windows 7 and running the most recent version of iTunes for Windows. Does anyone have some tips to make it run faster and smoother? I have Genius and Ping disabled, but I'm not quite sure what else I can do.

The newest version of iTunes should install if you are runnig 10.7.

I need to reinstal itunes 9.2 to my Mac.
I was having a problem with itunes recognising my iphone so followed instructions to uninstall itunes. However when I tried to re-install I find that in the last couple of days itunesx has appeared. My Mac is too old to accept it. I cannot find a version of 9.2.1 (which is I think where I was at). I did download 9.1 thinking automatic update would take care of it for me but it doesn't. And when I try to open itunes it won't read the library as it was created on a later version.
Grateful for any advice on how to get back to where I was?

Have you tried creating a new user account, and seeing if it locked up in there as well?
When you do launch iTunes is the iPhone already connected or disconnected?
