The update alerts are fake, and are intended to dupe you into installing malware or disclosing private information so that your identity can be stolen.
You might get the alerts when visiting a website that has been hacked. Don't visit the site again. If applicable, notify the site administrator of the problem, but don't send email to an unknown party.
If you get the alerts when visiting more than one well-known website, such as Google, YouTube, or Facebook, then they may be the result of an attack on your router that has caused you to get false results from looking up the addresses of Internet servers. Requests sent to those sites are redirected to a server controlled by the attacker. It's possible, but less likely, that the DNS server used by your ISP has been attacked.
    Back up all data.
Unlock the Network preference pane, if necessary, by clicking the lock icon in the lower left corner and entering your password. Cllck Advanced, open the DNS tab, and change the server addresses to the following:
              8.8.8.8
              8.8.4.4
That's Google DNS. Click OK, then Apply.
    In Safari, select
Safari ▹ Preferences... ▹ Privacy ▹ Remove All Website Data
and confirm. If you’re using another browser, empty the cache. Test. If the fake update alerts stop, see below. Otherwise, ask for instructions.
The router's documentation should tell you how to reset it to the factory default state. Usually there's a pinhole switch somewhere in the back. It may be labeled "RESET." Insert the end of a straightened paper clip or a similar tool and press the button inside for perhaps 15 seconds, or as long as the instructions specify.
After resetting the router, quit the web browser and relaunch it while holding down the shift key. From the Safari menu bar, select
Safari ▹ Preferences... ▹ Privacy ▹ Remove All Website Data
and confirm. Do the equivalent if you use another browser. Open the Downloads folder and delete anything you don't recognize.
Then go through the router's initial setup procedure. I can't be specific, because it's different for every model. The key points are these:
    1. Don't allow the router to be administered from the WAN (Internet) port, if it has that option. Most do.
    2. Set a strong password to protect the router's settings: at least ten random upper- and lower-case letters and digits. Don't use the default password or any other that could be guessed. Save the password in your keychain. Any password that you can remember is weak.
    3. If the router is wireless, or if you have a wireless access point on the network, use "WPA 2 Personal" security and set a different strong password to protect the network. If the router or access point doesn't support WPA 2, it's obsolete and must be replaced.
During the time the router was compromised, you were redirected to bogus websites. If you ever connected to a secure site and got a warning from your browser that the identity of the server could not be verified, and you dismissed that warning in order to log in, assume that your credentials for the site have been stolen and that the attacker has control of the account. This warning also applies to all websites on which you saw the fake update alerts.
Check the router manufacturer's website for a firmware update.
If you downloaded and installed what you thought was a software update, ask for instructions.

  • How to I find/delete empty layers? (AS)

Cleaning house on the files I get with 20 pages and 15 layers! Any input on how I can find and delete the empty layers via Applescript? Otherwise, I am first trying to move every item to one layer, then delete the empty layers. Long process....

    G'day
You can use non-Applescript solutions to give you hints.
The above posts point to a property of layers which is also available through Applescript — page items.
    So, maybe try...
    tell application "Adobe InDesign CS4"
        activate
        tell active document
repeat with x from (count layers) to 1 by -1
get page items of layer x
                if result is {} then
                    delete layer x
                end if
            end repeat
        end tell
    end tell

  • "Other Storage" (yellow bar) on Iphone4; how can I find this to clean it up?

I have almost 6 gigs of "other" being used on my phone. With only 413 mb of space, I really need to clean this up. How can I find what is under this catergory and delete??
    Thanks,
    Carly

An "other" that large usually indicates that the "other" included corrupted files.  Usually restoring from backup eliminated the corrupted files. However, sometimes restoring to factory settings/new iPod is required.
    To restore from backup see:

  • How do I find/delete damaged image?

I have been able to get Aperture to open successfully by holding the shift key down when first opening the application, deferring preview generation. According to the basic troubleshooting tips this indicates that I have a damaged image that is causing the problem opening Aperture. How do i find the offending image?
    Thanks,
    George

    Hello George,
your damaged image probably is from your most recent import. I'd suggest to try to open the master image files from your recent import in another program e,g, Preview.
If your library is managed . the masters included in he library package, you will find them by ctrl-clicking the  the Aperture library package in the Finder and selecting "Show package Contents".
Then open the "Masters" folder. This folder is organized chronologically by the import date. So your corrupted image most probably will be in the folder with the most recent date.
Browse this folder and try to open the images in Preview (or your camera's raw converter, if you are shooting raw).
If you cannot spot the culprit this way,  then you will have to try to find the corrupted image by creating previews for subsets of your images in Aperture.
Turn on the Activity Viewer (Window -> Show Activity) to see which images Aperture is processing.
Select some of your recent import, ctrl-click the images and select "Update Preview".
If Aperture crashes again, you will know the corrupt image is one of the currently selected.
Restart, and try the same for half of the selection, until you know which image it is.
    Regards
    Léonie
It will be hard work to find the image ...

  • How do I find the size of my JPEG photos

I want to find the size of my JPEG photos so I know how many photos I can fit per GB on my flashdrive.
I know that my photos are in the "all images" section, on the left side  of my "Mcintosh HD" dialogue box, a box which contains just about everything in my computer.
I click on "all images" and then a list of all my photos show up in the dialogue box. Then I can click on a photo and it will show the photo, but not the size of the photo. I would like to know the size of my photos, ie how may MBs per photo. (Let's say I find out a typical photo I have has 2.3 MBs. Then I can divide 1000 by 2.3 and that gives me the number of photos per GB in my flash drive.)  Thanks.

    I'm using iPhoto 11 Version 9.3.2
Highlight or open a photo. In iPhoto 11, at the bottom right there is an i/info tab.
Selecting info should give you a window similar to this.
As for the difference in file sizes there can be a few possibilities.
    1) you may have periodically changed the resolution settings in the camera
    2) you may have resized/scaled or edited the original photos

  • How do I find the pixel size of a photo?

I have taken a photo or found one online.
    It's now on my ipad.
How do I tell the pixel resoution of the photo via the ipad?
I have two of the same photos on my device at the moment and want to delete one.  They may both be 2048/2048, but without emailing them or putting them in Dropbox, and viewing on my laptop, I don't see how to tell.

Get the Actual Pixels App from the App Store. It's free and will tell you the pixel size of any photo you open.

  • How do I find missing entries in outer join table?

    Hi all,
I am trying to find records in table1 that are missing in table2.  This is a simple process in SQL, but ABAP is giving me trouble.  I want to do this using an outer join.
    Example:
    Select table1~docnumber
    From table1
    Left Outer Join table2
    On table1docnumber = table2docnumber
Where table2~docnumber IS NULL.  (the record is missing in table2)
Note: ABAP gives an error and wants me to use the Having Clause, which is ok, but then ABAP wants me to use Group By, which ok, but then I still get the same syntex error.
Any thoughts on doing this with the outer join and is null options.  I do not want to select into two internal tables and compare them.

    All,
I am not trying to do a subquery.  Just a simple outer join where I know some records are missing in the second table.
    Here is the code:
    select eban~banfn
    into table i_delay_banfn
    from eban
    left outer join zsmt_prdelay_upd
    on eban~banfn = zsmt_prdelay_upd~banfn
    where zsmt_prdelay_upd~banfn IS NULL.
    Here is the error message:
No fields from the right-hand table of a LEFT OUTER JOIN may appear in
    the WHERE condition: "ZSMT_PRDELAY_UPD~BANFN".
    select eban~banfn
    into table i_delay_banfn
    from eban
    left outer join zsmt_prdelay_upd
    on eban~banfn = zsmt_prdelay_upd~banfn
    having zsmt_prdelay_upd~banfn IS NULL.

  • HELP!! how can i find deleted data on my HD

    hi
i just reinstalled my mac. but i forgott to save my whole i tunes library!!!
does somebody know to restore my music?
    thanks for your answer
    kyle

If you erased your hard drive and you have no back up, your library is lost. If you have your music on an iPod, it may be recoverable with third-party software.
