How do I find file types in finder? Example "resume" type PAGES?

So if I wanted to use spotlight, how would I search for resumes, kind pages documents, so I do not get any PDF or word doc hits?

Type in .pages in the spotlight search bar. If you want to ignore any PDF files, you can turn off searching for that type of document.
OR
You could use a boolean search like this (probably more suitable)
resume (-doc -pdf)

the user administration (UME) gives you the information about the user <-> group <-> role assignment.
When you know the role, search in the PCS for it, open the role and you will see all the pages / iviews assigned to the role.

[CS3][JS] How to get the file type of current document

Hi,
How to get the file type of current opening document (e.g., tif, jpeg, png) using JavaScript with Photoshop CS3.
I am using file object the open the files one by one in the folder (the files sometimes don't have the extensions).
If the current document is in tiff format then I need to convert to 8-bit, if its an Jpg image then needs to ignore the file.

Do you really need to know the file type? What about just checking the bit depth?

There are many ways of uploading any file type to R3, provided it depends on how do you want to store it.
In general there are two easy ways, one is using the upload UI element, you can specify a path in the server and have configured it for all files and store the file directly in the file directory of the server.
Secondly, you need to do some work on the sap side, like creating a simple rfc, which will take up the file content as a 'binary' (raw) data type and store in the database with the relevant parameters. you rfc will take / get the update from the webdynpro UI element ( you need to do create a model ..context / binding..etc ). The whole file will be stored in binary form.
Hope this gives you some picture of how to go about on it.

I am not sure what you mean, but once you make a project. Then go to the share menu and you can export the project to iDVD, itunes, mobileme, quicktime.
Share export quicktime movie will allow you to export to a variety of codecs. What specific export are you looking to share the movie in? What is the final source that the movie will be displayed?

How to associate .c4d file type to Cinema 4D?

I have opened After Effects CC multiple times, created and saved .c4d files from Cinema 4D Lite and dragged .c4d files onto both applications. I have also restarted the computer many times. The system is running on a new installation on Mac OS on a drive formatted just 2 weeks ago so there should be no issues from strange system changes.
The .c4d files still appear with a Terminal icon and association on Mac OS X. Even when I use "Open With". This is annoying because it is hard to visually find these files without the proper icon on them. They even have the Terminal icon when imported into After Effects.
How can I change the icon system-wide to be correct?

Unless you have a full version of C4D you will have to open C4D lite from inside AE. It's part of the licensing agreement and there is no way around it.
The Mac user forums have tutorials on creating a custom icon for file types. I'd look there. You can't associate C4D files with C4D lite because of the licensing.

I have the same problem, unfortunatelly there's no standard way to do this and developing
custom repository services or upload commands may not attend totally my requirements.
An idea is to create FSDB CM Repositories or to map external File System repositories for
specifics needs, so once the documents are stored into a file system (windows in my case)
it's simple to implement the organization's policy, be it file types, maximum folder size, clean-up routines, etc..
However there are pros and cons, some services are not available and there are some restrictions,

That's why I'm so confused. Where is Firefox getting the name "VLC.bin (default)" from in the first place?

I don't have an entry for "browser.download.pluginOverrideTypes" and the entry "plugin.disable_full_page_plugin_for_types" was empty (default setting).
My bad, but I forgot to mention in my first post that I had also tried renaming the mimetypes.rdf file in my "Application Data\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\xxx.default\" to .old to no avail.
Firefox created a new, almost empty file, but it didn't change the behavior for .bin files. I removed the new file and put the old file back in place after determining that clearing the file did not help, since I am otherwise happy with my current file-type options.
However, since the option to "Always perform this action" is grayed-out, I am looking into the possibility that the website is sending a misconfigured MIME type or is assigning "Content-Disposition: attachment" to the download. What's odd, though, is that I've never had problems getting binary files from the site in the past, and the problem started when the VLC player was installed.
I'll post back after I check into the server header data.

i am trying to download a flat file and trying to upload it in another program.
for this i am using gui_upload and gui_download function modules.
if i download the file as ASC and upload with ASC there is no problem.
if i download the file as DAT and upload with DAT its giving an exception invalid file type
if i download the file as DAT and upload with ASC its giving an exception bad data format.
but in real senario my customer is sending a flat file with DAT type and i am unable to upload it.
how to solve this problem?

How do I change file type?

I am trying to upload a video that I edited onto my hard drive in order to share and view it through different players. My problem is that after I upload the video, the players do not recognize the file type. How do I change the file type in order to view it with different players other than Adobe?

Did you ever say what version of Premiere Elements that you are using and on what computer operating system the program is running?
For now, I am assuming that you are using Premiere Elements 11 Windows 64 bit.
The .prel file is just the project file whose Timeline needs to be exported either
a. file saved to the computer hard drive for an upload at the web site's home
or
b. a direct upload of the Timeline content to the sharing site provided for in Online/YouTube or Facebook or Vimeo with the preset offered.
If the Premiere Elements Online features do not meet your needs, an you want to export and save the file for upload to YouTube, Facebook, or Vimeo, you check out the video sharing requirements of the site of interest

I've just installed Dreamweaver CS4 under Windows XP
Professional but I've an issue with which files types are
associated with Dreamweaver.
When I first ran DW CS4 the application invited me to select
which type of files to associate with Dreamweaver: .css, .js,
.xslt, php, etc. I deselected a few as I was using another editor
for those at the time. However, I would now like to associate PHP
files with Dreamweaver CS4, so that when I double-click a PHP file
in Windows Explorer it opens in Dreamweaver CS4.
How can I do this?
Is there a way to run the initial dialog box again that
invited me to select which files to associate with Dreamweaver?

then select Open

How to filter the file type and size when uploadind files into APEX

I was wondering how I can do to validate the size of a file, before moving it to my table ? I'd like to filter the file type, but for this one, I think I can use regular expressions in a validation process.
I don't know if there is a way to read the file size even before sending it into the temporary file table.

Hello Leinad,
AFAIK, you have to create an APEX validation (PL/SQL returns Boolean or Returns error text), which will query the file details from apex_flow_files table. Here you can get filetype and size etc.
So just validate and if any validation fails, then delete the file from apex_flow_files and riase error message.

P.S. Please note that, if there are other apex validations on your page and if they fail, still apex will load the file into apex_flow_files table. So it's good idea to create a validation (PL/SQL) which will fire (condition) when inline validation errors occured. Make sure that this is the LAST validation on your page in sequence. And here you can write code to delete the file from apex_flow_files table.
