How do I find iBooks author file size? want to stay under 1gb.

I am wondering if there is anything like Get Info for the iOS. May be obvious but I have not found it. TIA.

Share/export as .ibooks file to where you can find it - then locate it in the Finder - Use the menu Get Info it is't now shown in the Finder window.
You can also load it to iTunes and do a get info there as well.

How can i find out the file size of a Keynote on an iPad please?

I think a rule of thumb is what you're looking for.
Full bandwidth CD audio (AIFF): about 10 MB/min
    Apple Lossless: about 5 MB/min
    MP3 @ 256k: about 2 MB/min
    MP3 @ 128k: about 1 MB/min
Of course the MP3 file size is exactly linear with bit rate.
    As for sound quality:
Apple Lossless is, as the name says, lossless.
MP3 @128k: fine for listening in the car or the kitchen etc. If you have an audiophile sound system, this will remind you why you spent all that money.
MP3 @256K: barely distinguishable from CD on very good equipment.
MP3 @320K: probably not distinguishable from CD.
I presume that since you're talking about importing classical CDs these are ones you own. Remember you can always do it again if you need higher fidelity or if better technology comes out. I import most CDs at 128k, since most of my MP3 listening is in the car, or walking, or as background. And I can always play the CD if I want to sit and listen.
The logic for purchased music is totally different -- you probably won't get to upgrade that without buying it some different way. So buying 128k MP3s (or AACs) is something you'll probably regret later. Buying 256k MP3s is a lot less problematic.

  • How do I find out the file size of my photos, and change them to the size

This will sound inane, but I cannot figure out where to find the file size of my photos in iPhoto. I need a jpeg of a certain file size and image size for my blog background, but can't figure out how to even start.

If the limited quality options do not get you the file size you need export the full size image files to a folder on your Desktop and use Resize! to batch resize the image dimensions and file size (jpeg compression level) to what you need.
With Resize! you can fine tune the pixel dimensions and file size.

  • How do I find out app file size

I only have 1.7gb left on my 8gb phone and notice that an app I am considering is 1.3 gb. How do I find the file size of apps before I buy them so I don't pay for something and then find out that I don't have enough space?
    Thanks!

I mean if I download this file and am left with only 0.4gb and want to download more apps in the future. Or if I HAD only 0.4gb left and needed to remove apps to make room, how do I know how large the are?
    Thanks!

  • How can I find the correct file size of a layered Photoshop document?

I need to send layered PSD files by email (Mac's Mail), and I don't use services like Dropbox. My ISP allows a maximum file size of 5 MB. I reduce the file size by reducing it to 8 MB/channel, 150 ppi and reducing the maximum size dimension to 10 inches. I'm using CS6 on a Mac.
If I check the file size using Get Info, I get 9.4 MB.
If the file is nested in a folder, the size is likewise, 9.4MB.
If I attach the file to an email, I notice at the bottom left the file size is given as 12.0 MB.
If I send the PSD layered file to myself, I find it uploads and dowloads quickly. On the email itself, it says, "1 attachment, 923 MB".
On my Mac "MAIL" folder, it says the the file is 1.2 MB.
If I calculate the file size mathematically, I get a size of approximately 4.3 MB. That is not counting the individual layers or the mask stored in Channels, for which I don't know the calculation.
This is a total of 6 measurements of the file size of my attachment, 5 of which differ.
    Is one of these correct?

I'd say 9.4 mb is correct. Email attachments always put on a lot of weight, so 12 mb as an attachment is probably right too.
Why don't you use a free service like Filemail? It's very easy to use, and you dont't have to sign up to use it.

  • How do I find Ibook audio files on Mac?

An Ibook that i downloaded includes audio, i would like to be able to listen to the audio on my ipod instead of an ibook. Is it possible to transfer the files to itunes?

The only two folders that show up are one called "Microsoft user data" and the other is RDC connections. Where do I go from there, I tried clicking into them but still was unable to locate any documents. I also cannot locate any of my music or pics. Forgive me, as I am a Mac noob.

  • Ibooks author file not accepted by itunes producer

I have completed a book with an Ibooks author file size of 830MB; it is not being accepted by itunes Producer for upload. Do I need to export it to IBooks format? I did this export but the resulting file is just 77MB. I did not try to upload it via Itunes Producer as it seems to small to be correct. ????????

Thanks this helped but not enough. I was trying to feed the I books author file directly. So, i went to File/publish and created a file labeled ITMSP. Then went back to the Publisher wizard. I was unable to load the ITMSP file but the Publication window in ITUNES Producer has the Ibook file I exported from IBA in it. I continued through the wizzard but chose not enter a target audience. When I got to the end and clicked on the button to send to Apple it went through a verification process and flagged the lack of target audience. So I went back and entered 13 and up. But the same error keeps occuring and I can not proceed. Any ideas on the following
    1. How I clear the error message now that I have entered the right data
2.Is the Ibooks export the file that should show in the produce window, or should it be the ITMSP file that wont load there?

  • Merge 2 iBooks Author files

We're working on a textbook and have multiple designers working on different parts of the book. We'd like to have each designer work on different chapters simultaneously. We thought we could just use separate iBooks Author files and then combine then but can't find any way to do that. How are others working in a mutli-designer environment?

I am a history teacher and my students are currently creating class iBooks. We are copying and pasting the chapters and everything is coming out fine except for one issue. The glossaries are not transferring over. My kids need to re-create their glossaries and terms. Is anyone else running into this problem or have a solution for it beside copying and pasting their work from one IBA to another.

  • Ibooks author file larger than it should be

    Hello,
I started a new ibooks author file a little while ago.  I began by dragging in a number of tiff files that I created in a music noatation program.  It was about 500 images at about 50 - 60 kb each.  I also pasted a few jpgs of a smaller size.  When I went back to it, the file size said 11.4 gb, which seems ridiculously large to me.  I've already completed one book the same way and it was no where near this size.
I did notice apport support mentions problems like this with anything earlier than 10.7.5, but I'm running 10.7.5.  I've also duplicated it like they suggested, but it still says its 11.4 GB.
    Does anyone have any suggestions?
    Thanks.
    DJC

The file size should be 2 gig only.  Tiffs are "heavy" files, you should  really download and read up in the iBA Assett Guide.    Images should also be 2meg although  Apple seem to accept files of 3meg +
iPad retina display is 2048 x 1536 =3.1 meg.   resolution is suggested at 85 dpi/ppi.
If you have adjusted files sizes in Photoshop or similar - I  also set the file size and adjust - then set the resolution or check  the files size is set to whatever you prefer between 72 - 150 max
I cannot explain why your end file size seems enlarged, all you can do is check the source files as they are before inserting/dropping into your pages.
I use original files sized at 2048 x 1536 @72dpi / ppi  or 1024 x 748 @ 72 dpi / ppi    these are landscape reverse the sizes for portrait. These are the files sizes whatever size I decide to finally display on the page.
    Assett Guide:
Optimizing Images in Fixed Layout Books
In addition to the image recommendations in “Interior Image Requirements” (page 22), the following apply
to working with images in Fixed Layout books:
    ● Images inside Fixed Layout books must be in JPEG or PNG format. To reduce file size, use JPEG for any
images that do not require transparency. Using JPEGs results in a smaller file size and better performance.
We recommend using a quality of 85 for JPEGs.
    ● Images inside Fixed Layout books must not exceed 2 million pixels. You can calculate whether an image
inside the book file exceeds 2 million pixels by multiplying the height and width of the image
If you have done all the above, already.. all I can suggest is check everything again.

  • What are the limitations regarding use of video in an iBook: length, file size, etc?

What are the limitations regarding use of video in an iBook: length, file size, etc?

Total book size is 2.0GB max. Length would be relative to size based on quality.

  • How are you Using iBooks Author and Samples

I'm curious to see how everyone is using iBooks author to create books. Are most people copy/pasting content into their book or are they directly writing the content in the book? How many have just imported the information from another word processing program? Who is using the program for creating books for children, entertainment or work-related functions?
And that being said, I'm also interseted to see samples of how the books of others look on the iPad, including if possible the children's books, entertainment books or the work-related books. (Including how they incorporated widgets, theme in the pages, fonts, etc)
Me personally, I have been developing two books using iBooks author for work related fuctions. The first book is a training manual for a software program; the second book is a guide to all the reports that can be created in the software program. Both books have been well received by clients.

I generally find that, for creating the text, I'm better off with the word processor of my choice. That way, I get to focus on content and structure and I don't get distracted by layout and formatting issues. While working in the word processor, I use only the simplest of styles. (Logical styles rather than visual ones, the equivalen of HTML <H1>, <H2>, etc.
Once I'm happy with the text and I've done the copy editing, I import into the page layout program and do the layout.
    Cheers,
    Michi.

  • How to I find out the photos SIZE in inches. It will give the the resolution

How to I find out the photos SIZE in inches. It will give the the resolution of the image and the file size.

In iPhoto, images don't have a size in inches until you use them. Until then it is just the pixel size. If you know the pixel size and resolution you calculate it this way:
If the image size is 5184 x 3486 (like my Canon T3i, you divide the size in pixels by the resolution in pixels per inch to get the actual length, so for some common resolutions:
    Res Width Height
    --         5184     3486
    300      17.3      22.6
    220       23.6     15.8
    72          72       48.4
So, as you can see, iPhoto is probably correct in ignoring file size for most recent digital cameras. There is plenty of resolution for almost any size you want to print.

  • Convert an iBook author file to an epub file

How do you convert an iBook author file to an epub file so other devices can open my book?

This is so unfortunate.  I teach a graduate multimedia class, and we are looking for an authoring program in which students can create ebooks.  Last year we used iBooks Author, which is a terrific program and does not require advanced tech skills, but is really limited in terms of its publishing and output options.  I would love to use Author again but am frustrated by its inability to play well with the PC platform.  Is there anything being planned that would enable iBooks to be converted to a PC friendly platform?  I do not want to export the books as PDFs because we lose all of the interactivity functions.  Any and all suggestions will be greatly appreciated.
