How do I find imported bookmarks

I have imported my bookmarks from IE explorer and google chrome. If I try to bookmark a new page it will ask me which folder I want to put it in. Some of the choices are folders that were imported. If I choose one of these they don't show up in my firefox bookmarks. For instance I bookmarked the weather channel and I chose the file titled" Weather" that was imported. When I go to Bookmarks to look the "Weather" file does not exist. Firefox gives me the option to put the page there but then seem to hide the folder and I'll be darned if I can find it.

OK so I found them. I have to go to Bookmarks then to Bookmarks toolbar. The Google Chrome bookmarks are at the bottom. You can move each folder to the regular Bookmarks list from here by dragging and dropping them.

  • How do I find the bookmarks file when I can not load the application? I.e., I can not get to the library.

My laptop died. The hard drive is in a case and accessible. It is connected to a 10 year old Pentium. How can I retrieve the bookmarks file from the Laptops drive when I can not load Firefox from that drive? I.e., I can not get to the library on the Laptop drive. I do have full access to it.

You can locate main bookmarks file, '''places.sqlite''', for restoration in another Firefox install, in your profile directory.
Since you profile is on another hard drive, the normal shortcuts to find it won't work.
On Windows XP, you can find the profile here:
    ''C:''\Documents and Settings\''Windows login/user name''\Application Data\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\''xxxxxxxx.default''
    Where:
    * C:\ is replaced by the drive letter you mounted the laptop drive on.
    * Windows login/username is replaced with your windows user name you used on that hard drive.
    * xxxxxxxx.default is replaced with 8 random characters followed by .default, and should be the only folder in Profiles.
Once you've found the old profile, you can copy files over to a new profile. See https://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Profiles#How_to_find_your_profile and [[Recovering important data from an old profile]] for other files you may want to restore.

  • I can isolate a bookmark with the filter, but how can I "find" a bookmark in the hierarchy of the ShowAllBookmarks window?

I want to find a bookmark in its location in the hierarchy of bookmarks, but all I can do with the filter is isolate a bookmark[s]; either using the filter of the bookmarks sidebar, or in the ShowAllBookmarks window. For instance, I know I have a certain bookmark, but I want to move it into a new "folder" and rename it, perhaps; for this I need to be able to *see* it in the hierarchy, as in the Finder of a Mac, when the filter turns up a file, then "Show Original" of "Open Enclosing Folder."

I'm just trying to understand how to use these add-ons, having just added them on, to borrow a phrase, but have now found a comment re Go Parent Folder, "This extension does not seem to work in MacOS X. " <http://forums.mozillazine.org/viewtopic.php?t=659690>. Sadly [altho I really like Snow Leopard] I'm running OS X.6.7. Nonetheless a contextual menu mousing down on a "found" bookmark indeed does give the working option of "Go to Parent Folder" from the found list of the ShowAllBookmarks window, *or* the that of the sidebar window. Bravo!!
Just a question again, how would I have learned this had I not bothered the entire forum, and taken cor-el's time/effort?

  • How to export and import bookmarks Firefox on N900

It's self-explanatory. I know how to export & import bookmarks with Firefox desktop. As a disabled user, the less I have to "re-invent the wheel", the better. How do I export and import bookmarks with Firefox (currently 4) on N900?

Sync is the main vector for transferring bookmarks between computers for Firefox.
    https://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/how-do-i-set-up-firefox-sync
If the N900 allows filesystem access the places.sqlite file could be copied from your desktop Firefox profile.

  • How do I find imported photos in events?

I recently bought a Macbook air and noticed that when I import photos into iPhoto, they do not generate a new untitled event in "Events" as they used to on my previous Mac laptop.   Instead I have to go to "Photos" and sort through thousands of photos to find those that I just imported.  This takes a lot of time to locate them and then if I want to "copy" the photo I've found, I cannot "paste" it into an event.   All of my photos are organized in Events for easy/fast retrieval, but it would seem that iPhoto on the Macbook air doesn't allow for the use of events any longer.    Anyone have any ideas about how to continue to use events for importing on a Macbook air?

What is your iPhoto version on your new MacBook Air?
I am still seeing new events created (in iPhoto 9.5.1) , when I use "File > Import" to import a folder of image files, or import from my camera, or drag image files to the iPhoto Library.
Instead I have to go to "Photos" and sort through thousands of photos to find those that I just imported.
You can find quickly the event by opening the "Last Import" album and selecting one of the photos. Ctrl-click it and select "Show event".

  • Where and/or how do i find my Bookmark files (folder) ??

So i accidentally ran a 'Recovery' on my computer ..and to say the least i messed things up on my computer.
All i want to do is find and save my Bookmarks from my priviest Firefox. I know that they are there, it's just i have no clue how to go about it?

Does Firefox run at the moment? If so, what do you see for Bookmarks -- just the defaults that come with the browser?
Your bookmarks are stored in a database file in your active settings folder (AKA Firefox profile folder). We need some information.
    (1) If Firefox runs, go to Help > Troubleshooting Information > Show Folder to display your currently active settings/profile folder.
If Firefox does not run, copy and paste this to the search box on the start menu or to the address bar in a Windows Explorer window and open the most recent folder you see:
    <br>%APPDATA%\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles
    (2) Immediately make a copy of the bookmarkbackups folder in a safe place.
    (3) Navigate up a level. Do you see any other settings folders? Do any of them show recent files in bookmarkbackups? Make copies for safekeeping.
Let us know what you find.

  • Computer crashed, new computer how do I find lost bookmarks?

My old computer crashed [Windows 8.1]. I have a new computer [8.1]. I do not know about file saving. If my old bookmarks still exist in some form of Firefox storage, I would like to know how to recover them.
If the old bookmarks do not exist in any form of storage in Firefox, then I would know to stop trying to recover them.
I do have the old bookmarks in a Word document (30 pages). Can the Word document be loaded into Firefox? I have tried converting it into HTML, but when loading it into Firefox I get strings of computer code instead of bookmarks.

Your bookmarks and history are stored in the ''places.sqlite'' file in your Firefox profile folder. While Firefox is closed, you can replace the current file with the old one. Doing so will replace your current set of bookmarks and history. You may want to backup the current file beforehand.
    * [[Profiles - Where Firefox stores your bookmarks, passwords and other user data]]
    * [[Recovering important data from an old profile]]
The ''bookmarkbackups'' folder under the profile folder contains automatic backups of your bookmarks. These backups can be restored, replacing your current set of bookmarks with the old one.
    * [[Restore bookmarks from backup or move them to another computer]]

  • I need to retrieve my bookmarks from another laptop which doesn't boot to Windows any more. I have managed to copy the Firefox Profiles folder from that laptop - how do I now import bookmarks to a new laptop?

I've tried replacing the contents of the old Profile folder into the new folder and I have also tried just replacing the urlclassifier3.sqlite file, but that doesn't work either.
Googling hasn't helped me over the last 24 hours but surely there must be a way to do this - right?
    Many thanks,
    Anthony

Yes, there is a way to restore your bookmarks from your old laptop to the new one. Note that just replacing the contents of old Profiles folder will not work because your profiles.ini file contains a different profile name.
For steps on how to restore your bookmarks, please read this article: [http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Backing%20up%20your%20information Backing up your information].

You can check for problems with the <b>places.sqlite</b> database file in the Firefox profile folder.

  • How to get back my Bookmarks in Safari in Mt. Lion?

Installation of Mt. Lion preserved the Bookmarks in Firefox and Chrome but not Safari. Am trying to follow the online instructions on importing into Safari, but Firefox is greyed out! How do I find the bookmarks imported into Chrome and transfer them to Safari?  Also, how do I get the automatic password function to work again in Safari instead of always requiring me to enter my Word Press pass in order to access my web site? (It says LastPass cannot be used anymore.)

The Camera Roll is included in device backups, if you backup to iTunes or iCloud. If the missing photos have been stored in the Camera Roll, restore your iPhone from the last backup you made before the upgrade to iOS 8.

  • How do I Import Bookmarks from one profile to another ? I have tried searching online but I can find no "bookmarksbackups" folder and no "places.sqlite" Thanks

    Hi,
I was wondering how to Import Bookmarks from an old firefox profile to a new one ? My laptop stopped working but I managed to copy my firefox data from the mozilla appdata folder. I want to now copy my old bookmarks to my new firefox profile on my new laptop. I have tried searching online for guidance but most methods mention a "bookmarksbackups" folder and a "places.sqlite" file. However, I can find no "bookmarksbackups" folder and no "places.sqlite" file. Among the files in profile I am trying to import FROM are a "bookmarks" html file(which seems to only contain the default firefox bookmarks) as well as "places.sqlite-shm" and "places.sqlite-wal" files. Although, the NEW profile on my new laptop I am trying to import TO DOES have a "bookmarksbackups" folder and a "places.sqlite" file.
I would be most grateful for any help received. Many thanks in advance for your help and for your time

    f458italia,
Per your screenshot - you don't have the /bookmarksbackup/ folder nor the places.sqlite file - your bookmarks don't exist in that old Profile. ''cor-el mentioned another file that is missing, so that Profile wouldn't have been operational.''
Are you sure that you don't have another Profile for that user account?
