How do I find music and movies that didn't copy over after restoring Ipod?

I restored my ipod and all of my movies and music didn't copy back over. (Most did.) How do I find the ones that didn't?  When I check Itunes it showed them in the cloud before and now they are not even showing up in Itunes.  What are we doing wrong?

Hello Cindy,
It sounds like not all your purchases transferred to your computer before your restored your iPod touch.  I found an article with some steps to download your past iTunes purchases.  I recommend following the steps in the section titled "Apps, Books, Music, Movies, or TV shows on a computer" in the following article:
Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store

Thank you for posting in the Apple Support Communities.

Hi How can I put all of my music and movies that are on my iPod onto my computer? They were all on my computer before but became erased. Thanks!

If you have any iTunes Music Store purchases the transfer of purchased content from the iPod to authorised computers was introduced with iTunes 7. A paragraph on it has been added to this article: Transfer iTunes Store purchases using iPod
The transfer of content from other sources such as songs imported from CD is designed by default to be one way from iTunes to iPod. However there are a number of third party utilities that you can use to retrieve the music files and playlists from your iPod. You'll find that they have varying degrees of functionality and some will transfer movies, videos, photos, podcasts and games as well. Have a look at the web pages and documentation, this is just a small selection of what's available, they are generally quite straightforward. You can also read reviews of some of them here: Wired News - Rescue Your Stranded Tunes

There is also a manual method of accessing the iPod's hard drive and copying songs back to iTunes on Windows or a Mac. The procedure is a bit involved and won't recover playlists but if you're interested it's available at this link: Two-way Street: Moving Music Off the iPod
If your iPod is set to update automatically you need to take care connecting to an empty iTunes. You can use a keyboard command to prevent your iPod auto-syncing with iTunes. While connecting the iPod to the computer on Windows with iTunes 7 installed hold down the Control and Alt keys (or Shift + Ctrl keys in older versions). This will stop the iPod from auto-syncing with iTunes and the iPod will appear in the source list. Wait until you are sure the iPod has mounted, and that it will not auto sync and then you can let the keys go. This may take between 20 to 30 seconds depending on your computer: iTunes 7 Keyboard Shortcuts for Windows
Your iPod should appear in the iTunes source list from where you can change the update setting to manual and use your iPod without the risk of accidentally erasing it. Also when using most of the utilities listed below your iPod needs to be enabled for disc use, changing to manual update will do this by default. Check the "manually manage music and videos" box in Summary then press the Apply button: Managing content manually on iPod
Whichever of these retrieval methods you choose, keep your iPod in manual mode until you have reloaded your iTunes and you are happy with your playlists etc then it will be safe to return it auto-sync. I would also advise that you get yourself an external hard drive and back your stuff up, relying on an iPod as your sole backup is not a good idea and external drives are comparatively inexpensive these days, you can get loads of storage for a reasonable outlay.

  • How can I stop music and movies from being automatically deleted from my phone and saved on the cloud? I've just tried to watch a movie on my 2 hour commute, but yet AGAIN it has been removed. I do NOT want to spank all of my data allowance

How can I stop music and movies from being automatically deleted from my phone and saved on the cloud? I've just tried to watch a movie on my 2 hour commute, but yet AGAIN it has been removed. I do NOT want to spank all of my data allowance downloading it again, especially because (believe it or not) I added it to my phone because that's precisely where I wanted it!! Any help much appreciated

FYI I had to put this link into firefox to reply - because **** back safari just wouldn't register my clicks to any of the links on the post... Despite reloadeing and even restarting my computer. Totally annoying and a massive pain in the ***.
But in terms of my initial query; thanks for responding. But no, this is NOT the cause of the problem. I have auto sync and sync over wifi activated, but have also selected manually manage music and videos. Plus, all of my music and videos are on my macbook, absolutely all of it, so if it my phone was syncing with my macbook everything would still be on the phone. Life would be peachy if my phone jsut copied everything that was on my macbook, but unfortuantely it keeps deleting tracks for no apparent reason.
Any thoughts greatly welcomed, because at the moment i can only conclude that my iphone is crap.

  • If My external hard drive went bad can I use iCloud to still have or access all my ripped music and movies from iTunes without starting over?

Can I have access to all my imported music and movies in iTunes even though my external hard drive went bad with the acutal files, if i purchase iCloud through iTunes.

You say "ripped" music.  That is not stored on iCloud unless you subscribe to Match.  As for iTunes Store purchases:
Downloading (using iOS or computer) past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store - http://support.apple.com/kb/ht2519 - enabled with iTunes 10.3 and newer; not all media formats are available in all countries (see: iTunes in the Cloud and iTunes Match Availability by Country - http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5085); apps, books (not audiobooks), music, t.v. shows, and movies (some - not all studios have permitted this).  Downloading previously purchased movies and TV shows requires iTunes 10.6 or later.  Discontinued items not available. For items not included in the iCloud list (e.g., ringtones, audiobooks), or locations or computer systems where iCloud is not (yet?) available, you only get one download per fee paid.  Apple notes it is your responsibility to back up your purchases.
Select the iTunes Store on the left side of iTunes.
Click on Purchased on the right side under Quick Links.
You can re-download your available previous purchases.
Of course if you had a backup of your files you would have been back up adn running iTunes by the time you read all this.

  • How can I transfer music and movies from my iPod to my PC?

I recently lost all of my content on iTunes and have been looking for a way to transfer my content from my iPod over to my PC. I have no idea how I can do it, and my iPod is going screwy, so I need to transfer my content before my iPod finally breaks. Help?

  • How to easy find music in Library that wasn't added to any Playlist?

Hi, people. A very particular question: normally, I have all my music in Library and added to a specific Play list. How can I easy search music in Library that weren't added to any play list yet?
And LBNL how can I easy search music that doesn't exist (only link in iTunes) to delete the broken link?
    thanks for your tips.

There's a slightly cumbersome way of finding out which songs aren't in a playlist. From the File menu in iTunes, Select Make a New Playlist folder. Call it whatever you want. Then, move all of your playlists into that folder (don't worry, you can move them again later). Then, from the File menu, choose Make a new Smart Playlist. The criterion for the Smartplaylist should be "Playlist is NOT <name of playlist folder>". The songs in the resulting playlist will be the ones that aren't in the other playlists.
    Best of luck.

  • How to add games, music, and movies on different computers

Every one in my family got an iPod for Christmas and we are still trying to figure out how to use them. There are three computers under one account and they are all authorized. How do we download the games and movies/tv shows that have been purchased with the account on another computer?(example:There are 3 games and a couple of songs wanted on each computer so how do we get those on all 3 computers?)

How do we download the games and movies/tv shows that have been purchased with the account on another computer?
Right-click an item, find its location, copy it as well as the other content near it to another computer, and then drag that instance of it into the open iTunes window.

  • I've downloaded movies to my itunes but once they are finished they completely disappear. Also today I opened my itunes and over half of my music and movies that actually show up are gone. Can anyone give me some advice on this problem?

I have downloaded movies through itunes until the latest version came out. Now the movies will download and then disappear. Everything is up to date so I'm not sure what is wrong. Also I opened my itunes today and over half of my music is missing along with several of the movies that do play. Luckily I have all my music saved, but the movies are completely gone. Does anyone have some ideas that could help me?

There's a whole lot to read in your post, and frankly I have not read it all.

  • How to sync contacts, music, and movies from iPhone to new mac and unsync from old PC?

Hi, I know this question has been asked a lot but for some reason I could not get a clear understanding of what everyone was talking about and my situation might be a tad different.
So I already had an iPhone that was synced to my dell PC. I just got a new macbook pro retina and now I'm trying to transfer my contacts, movies, and music to my mac from my iPhone. However I keep getting a message that says if I sync to this mac then all of my stuff will be deleted from my iPhone. (I am now aware that they mean only iTunes content, but those are still important to me). I still own my PC but there is no way I can connect my PC and Mac together. Is there a way possible that I could "unsync" my iPhone to my PC and sync it to the Mac without erasing the stuff from my iPhone? Are there other methods of syncing my iPhone to my new mac? My last question is that is it possible to transfer purchases from my mac to my iPhone even if it is or isn't synced to the PC or erased of content?
Hopefully this sounds coherent, and thank you all in advance for your help. I'm new to all of this and I really appreciate your time.

It is designed so syncing is one way only (with the exception of iTunes Store purchases) computer to phone.  You need to transfer the library from the old computer to the new one so the phone is syncing back to the same library it used to or else it will request you erase the phone.
Quick answer if you use iTunes' default preferences settings:  Copy the entire iTunes folder (and in doing so all its sub-folders and files) intact to the other drive.  Hold down the option (alt) key (shift on Windows) and open iTunes.  At the prompt to create or choose a library choose the copied iTunes folder.
You can use  flash drive for copying, breaking it down into chunks if necessary but making sure they get re-assembled correctly again.
If this is to a new computer and you put the copied iTunes folder in the default location of Macintosh HD > Users > *User Name* > Music  then you don't even need to start with the option key held down, iTunes will automatically look for it there.  (Make sure there isn't anything already in the iTunes folder there that you want to keep since you will be replacing it with the one you are moving.)

  • Music and movies that i had purchased disappeared when i switched my country to India

I had purchased movies and music when I was living in New York. Recently I have moved back to india and when iTunes prompted, i updated my country to india. Now i cannot see or download the movies and music that i had purchased earlier in New York. How do i get mu purchases back ? Would appreciate your help. Thanks

Before you change country make sure you have downloaded and backed up any purchases from your previous country's store.  You will not be able to re-download them again once you change countries and it won't be easy to change countries to the previous one once you lose your payment method for the former country (as well as a wait period).  As long as you have them on your computer you will be okay.
Change the country of your iTunes Store, App Store, iBooks Store, and Mac App Store account - http://support.apple.com/kb/ht6119 - "After you change the country of your account, you won't see the items you purchased from the previous country’s store in the Purchased section."

  • HT4363 How do you put music and movies from iPad to iPhone?

How do I put all of my movies and music from my iPad 2 to my iPhone 4s?

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
You may well be simply able to redownload them depending on your location, otherwise you will have to transfer them to iTunes on a computer and then to the phone from iTunes.

  • How do I get music and books that are on my iPhone4 to show up on iTunes and vice versa?

I have an iPhone4 which has the Nook app on it.  I have about 70 books that I have purchased from BN.com and two of them show up in iTunes on my laptop.  Why don't the others?  Conversely, I have copied some of my music cds onto iTunes but they don't show up on my iPhone.   A couple of songs that I purchased on iTunes are on my phone - is there a way to get the other music OR is there a way to tell what will sync between the two?

As for the content purchased from BN.com that shows up in the nook app... check with Barnes and Noble to see if it's possible for that content to show up on your computer.
