Hi JustaGuy, You can determine the model number by looking at the unit. The model name will be listed either by the LCD/LED display or on the front of the unit. If you are unable to locate it, please provide the serial number (just the letters) and we can tell you what model you have.

Thanks.Many of the Apple keyboards have the model number on the underside, often in very tiny grey print that is really, really hard to read
You can also go to the Apple symbol in the top left corner of your screen, drop down to About this Mac, then click more Info and navigate to the the hardware information about the interfacing equipment.
If you have your original order information from purchase, it may list each item you received with model/part number.

That's easy. At the top of the logon, you see a title bar with a general version indication. At the most left of it, you'll see an icon. Click on that and choose about SAP logon and you'll get detailed info.

The multigesture buttonless trackpad was introduced with the Unibody Macs that came out in Late 2008. Successive models have built upon that, adding 2, 3 and more fingers to the gestures.
Older models don't have the trackpad hardware needed to detect those motions and, hence, cannot support multigestures. Only resort is using combination of keys with the button, as disguise suggests. -

Do you meant he serial number? If so, click the Apple Menu then click: About This Mac. You will see Mac O S X. Under that click where you see: Version 10.x.x, then click one more time to see the serial number.
You can also view this information by launching the System Profiler (Applications/Utilties)
On the left under Contents select Hardware. The serial number will be displayed on the right.
Just out of curiosity, how is knowing the serial number going to help trouble shoot this MacBook ??

How can I find Lion to download it to my Mac Book? It has Snow Leopard and 4GB RAM but it the white plastic model and is not compatible with Mountain Lion. I have been told by the Genius Bar that it will handle Lion.
That underpowered model is better left on 10.6.8 for performance reasons, also the fact that it's dated and 10.7 will likely require you to buy alll new software to replace the PPC based software your currently using.
If you insist, then call Apple via phone and they will sell you 10.7 Lion and provide a link to download it.
My 2¢ is to save up for a new machine, as that one is about to kick the bucket, they only last about 4.5 years or so depending upon use/enviroment.
If your having problems with 10.6.8, perhaps some of the links here can assist, 10.6 is faster than 10.7 in fresh install tests.
