How do I find my iTunes library back?

I reinstalled Leopard and have trouble to find ny iTunes library back on my external hard drive. I did find some Itunes library files but clicking them opens iTunes without opening any music files in iTunes. How can I get it restored?

Try launching iTunes while holding down the Option key and navigate to the library on the external when prompted.

I tried to share my itunes library with all the account holders in my house - basially to make an account for each iphone, and some how i messed it up and moved the whole library into the home folder?? it didnt work and i lost my entire library, but by messing about i have managed to create a second identical library.. but it now only plays some tracks all the way thriugh and others it stops near the end.. this has also moved onto my iphone 4s and also my iphone 3gs... can someone help me restore it back to the original settings???. Try booting to recovery and see if you can reinstall the OS:

Doing so depends upon the OS that was on the Mac before and what was done.
Otherwise you will need to boot from install disks.
You can call Apple 1-800-MY-APPLE
If you have a Mac with an Intel processor you can order Snow Leopard install disk here
and boot from it and format the disk and instll Snow Leopard.

So, I own a Macbook and I have about 20 gigs of music on my hard drive, files are also store in iTunes Match, iCloud, etc.
When I first got my iPad, I saw my entire iTunes library was also on my iPad, just not downloaded to the hd, it was apearing as downloadable. Over the course of a few months, while listening to music on my iPad, I noticed I was running low on storage space.
So, instead of deleting the indivial files, I decided to delete the library from my iPad.
However, now I cannot figure out how to get the library back on my iPad, and be able to see my iTunes library and download to the HD as I please.

It sounds like you were indeed using iTunes Match on your iPad. iTunes Match would have allowed you to view your entire library, and stream (or download) individual selections. Is iTunes Match still enabled?
- On your iOS device, go to Settings > Music.
- Tap the iTunes Match switch to set it to ON.

It sounds like you are trying to access iTunes in the Cloud. You can stream or download your past purchases from iTunes in the Cloud, and if you have an iTunes Match subscription, you can also see items not purchased through the iTunes Store.
I found some information about this that I think will help clarify how it works:
With iTunes in the Cloud, many of your new iTunes Store purchases are instantly available on all your computers and iOS devices, not just the one you used to make the purchase. Many of your previous purchases are also available.
Here’s how it works: The iTunes Store automatically stores your purchases in iCloud. iCloud immediately downloads your new purchases to any or all of your computers and devices. You can also add items to any of your computers and devices any time you’re connected to the Internet, without having to sync or use Home Sharing.
If you subscribe to iTunes Match, you can store your entire iTunes music library in iCloud—including songs you imported from CDs and songs that weren’t purchased in the iTunes Store—and play those songs on any of your computers or devices whenever you want.
With iTunes in the Cloud, your iTunes Store purchases and iTunes music library can always be available on all your computers and devices—wirelessly and without syncing.

TS1967 My iTunes library no longer has all of my music or playlists. When I click "On this iPod" it shows everything, but it's greyed out. How can I get my iTunes library back to normal?

I am not sure why, but everything in my library is gone. I no longer see my songs, or my playlist.
When I click on "on ipod" in my itunes, it shows everything how it should be, but it's grey so I can't click on anything. Is there a way to transfer all of that to my itunes again? Or is there a setting for this? I am so confused, I have no idea how/when this even happened!

Select the store on the left side of iTunes.
Click on Purchased on the right side under Quick Links.
You can re-download your available previous purchases.
This will not reconstruct your library as it was. It just puts the media back. You will have to do playlists, ratings, etc. If you have music from another source you will have to get it from there again.
