How do I find my restore backup password?
I just upgraded my Iphone 3GS to the IOS5. Once the update completed it gave me the option to restore my Iphone from a previous backup done today. I chose that option and clicked continue. It then proceeded to ask me for a restore backup password which I do not have. I have never been asked for this before or set one up. I have tried everything. I tunes password, cell number, serial number etc. Nothing works! I called Apple and it says they have no one to help available. Any help please?
If you have no passcode for the screen lock, connect your phone in recovery mode and restore, as explained in this article: iPhone and iPod touch: Wrong passcode results in red disabled screen
If you cannot remember the passcode, you will need to restore your device using the computer with which you last synced it. This allows you to reset your passcode and resync the data from the device (or restore from a backup). If you restore on a different computer that was never synced with the device, you will be able to unlock the device for use and remove the passcode, but your data will not be present. Refer to Updating and restoring iPhone, iPad and iPod touch software.
If you encrypted your backup before and can't remember the code for your backup, you can't use the backup and you'll have to start from the scratch.
Warning: If you encrypt an iPhone backup in iTunes and then forget your password, you will not be able to restore from backup and your data will be unrecoverable. If you forget the password, you can continue to back up and use the device, however you will not be able to restore the encrypted backup to any device without the password. You do not need to enter the password for your backup each time you back up or sync.
If you cannot remember the password and want to start again, you must perform a full software restore and when iTunes prompts you to select the backup from which to restore, choose set up as a new device.

Hello Rissey,
Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.
The encrypted backup password stays unless you want to restore the device as new.
iOS: Troubleshooting encrypted backups
http://support.apple.com/kb/TS5162
You need the backup password to disable backup encryption or to restore from an encrypted backup.
You can keep trying to restore the device from backup until you remember the password. If you're having trouble, try:
Leaving the password field blank
Your Apple ID password
Your computer account password, if you have one
Email passwords you may have used
Your Wi-Fi network password
Website passwords you may have used
A password for hard-disk encryption software, if you use it
iTunes: About iOS backups

If you can't remember the password and want to start again, you must perform a full software restore and chooseset up as a new device when iTunes prompts you to select the backup from which to restore.

How do i find a recent backup from on icloud. i don't want to restore on my iphone, just view on my Pc and keep as file. looking for pics and video i recorded thanks
The password is set on the WiFi router providing the service, by the owner of the network to prevent unwanted "guests" accessing the network. The only way to know it is to ask the owner permission to use the network. Otherwise, you have to find a free WiFi hotspot that doesn't require a password.

How to find your lost backup password
I restored my ipod touch ( 3rd generation ) and i cant remember my backup password. Can somebody please help me ..
To find lost iPhone backup password, you can do as the following steps:
The first step: Get tool "iPhone Backup Unlocker" via Google search then setup it and run it. It will show you import your saved backup file.
The next step: Choose your right Attack Type and do the particular settings
Totally, you will find 3 modes to pick out: Brute-force Attack (try all possible character combinations), Brute-force with Mask Attack (Knowing some symbols in the password) and Dictionary Attack (one`s own dictionary or use import default dictionary)
The third step: Crack iPhone backup password After choose your suitable attack mode, afterward you cost minimum time for you to find password and have lost data in your phone! -

How do I remove a "encripted backup password" that someone else put on my computer??
You can't. Either find out what it is, or you'll have to delete all of your existing backups, restore your phone as a new device & start over.

HT201240 how can I find the su - root password on my mac?
how can I find the su - root password on my mac?
Chances are you could have also done
sudo su -
which would now make you 'root' until you exit. You could do all your setup running as root.
Very few if anything actually needs the root password to use root privileges, and having a system where root cannot be directly logged into, is a safer system. -

How can I find my user name password as I only remember my administrator password?I don't want to lose things or content.
If you have only one account, then your admin password is your user password. If you use another account that is not an admin account, then log into your admin account from which you can change the password on your user account.
