How do I find or reset my POP mail account password? OSX 10.5.8

I"ve forgotten my POP mail acount password. Is there an easy way to find out what it is or reset it?

Open Keychain Access in Utilities, enter the part after the @ sign in the search bar, hit enter, double click on the  ones it finds & choose Show Password, you'll need an admin password.

  • Could someone PLEASE tell me how to set up more than one POP mail account.

I am soooo frustrated. Before I upgraded to Tiger I had no problems setting up my mail accounts. Now, I can only set up one POP mail account. I have three mail accounts that I desperately need to set up from the same ISP server, all POP accounts. On Panther and earlier, all I had to do was add the accounts. Now I have ONE POP account and when I try to set up another I get an error message that I already have a POP account set up. Why is this happening and what happened to the old system that worked just fine. I am so annoyed with this. It simply defies logic!!!!

I don't know if this will work or not, but why don't you try using bogus pop and/or smtp server information when you initially establish the accounts with Mail's setup wizard? Just continue through the "warning: cannot validate server" messages that the wizard will give you. Then go into Mail > preferences > accounts and highlight each of the new accounts, one at a time, and try changing the incoming pop and outgoing smtp mail server information to what it is supposed to be?
For the "Outgoing" server just use the pull-down menu, to select it, and when all accounts are done, go into that same pull-down menu and choose "Edit Server List..." to remove the bogus smtp server information.
Incoming should be just renaming that pop server in the "Incoming server" field.
If that doesn't work, I've got something riskier you could try, again with no guarantees, and that is editing your ~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.mail.plist file using either the Property List Editor that comes with XCode Tools (will launch automagically when you click on that .plist file if XCode is installed) or with the pico editor in Terminal, and possibly renaming some folders in your ~/Library/Mail folder, too. Again, start with the bogus server info, then find those entries in the .plist file and make changes there.
Note: if not familiar with the notation, "~" means your "home" directory.

1.) How do you find the dictionary in Apple Mail Program?  2.) How do you add another dictionary?

    Hello James!
I do not have any ABAP Instance, only the JAVA one.
Therefore the ABAP transactions are quite useless.
The problem tables are created by people working on the CAF layer.
They have developed and deployed some homemade applications and this is leftovers from their development in some kind of way.
    Anyone with any ideas?
Could it be that (yet) some special Portal Dictionary Role needs to be asigned to the Administrator?

  • How can I find my email in Apple Mail from before my company switched hosting providers?  People with Outlook have all of their old and new emails.  My old emails have vanished from Apple Mail.

How can I find my email in Apple Mail from before my company switched hosting providers?  People with Outlook in my company have all of their old and new emails.  My old emails have vanished from my Apple Mailbox on my macbook and other Apple devices.  I do not have my mail backed up in time machine recently nor did I export my emailbox recently.  Any ideas?

Try looking in your User folder.
Either hold down the option key while using the Finder “Go To Folder” command and select your user Library in your home folder or use the Finder “Go To Folder” command and enter ~/Library/Mail/V2
If you prefer to make your User library permanently visible, use the Terminal command found below.
    Show User Library
You might want to bookmark the command. I have to use it again after every update. I have also been informed that if you drag the user library to Finder it will remain visible.

    Hey,
Do you have access to the internet?
You might visit Adobe website and download Acrobat pro on your system.
Then, you can use your serial number for activating the software.

How do I set up a POP mail account to use a different outgoing SMTP port? on Maverick O/Sx. Cannot see option to use 2 different ports?

In Mail>Preferences>Accounts tab>Account Information tab - from the 'Outgoing Mail Server (SMTP):' drop-down menu select 'Edit SMTP Server List...', choose the server you want to edit from those listed, click on the Advanced tab. Does that give you the option you're after?

  • If you delete a POP mail account in Mac Mail can you get your mails back?

This has happened to a client of mine. She'd just set up a new account for her email as she'd moved servers. She had an old POP mail account on her Mac Mail for two years which she deleted and now all of her old sent mails are gone plus everything from the inbox that wasn't moved into folders.
How do you get those emails back? (I'm not sure if she has been using Time Machine to back everything up)
Will re-creating the old account help?

If she hasn't been backing up with Time Machine (or a full backup which hasn't been overwritten) they are gone. Recreating the account won't being them back.
If she has Time Machine, open (user)/Library/Mail in the Finder and then enter Time Machine. Navigate backwards looking for a folder named POP- and the name of the account. Use TM to restore that.

  • Resetting the original administrator account password without disk

How can I reset the original administrator account password without the disk.
I just moved homes and can't find disk. Pls, help.

Backup before you begin just in case.
Boot holding cmd+R. Recovery mode should startup (assuming you have a recovery partition).
Select Terminal from the Utilities menu.
    Enter the word…
    resetpassword
    … & hit return.
The GUI app will open, select the main boot HD.
Select the admin user account in the popup menu.
Change & save the new password.
    Quit ResetPassword from the menu,
    Quit Terminal
    Reboot
    NOTE:
The keychain is setup to use the user login password to unlock when you login. It will now be inaccessible without the old password. You should be prompted to create a new one via a dialog, if not manually create a new login keychain in Keychain Access & set it as 'default'. Backup the old keychain if you are ever likely to remember the old password, or delete it since these passwords are inaccessible without the correct password.

  • POP E-mail account password

My POP mail account is not working. I've had this computer a long time and I intend to get a new one
because it's so out of date but in the mean time I need to get this problem fixed. The problem is with the
password. I NEVER had to type it in. It was always in there in mail preferences/accounts (all in asterisks*****)
For reasons I can't figure out, the password is no longer there. In keychain access there is no
indication of any mail account and password. When I click on "get mail" I get a prompt that asks for
a password. I have no idea what it is! My e-mail server is Time Warner Cable. They have no idea
what I'm talking about. I opened a g mail account just so I can do some e-mailing but I hate the format
and I want to continue to send and receive e-mails at my POP account and Time Warner e-mail address
as I have many business cards with that address on it. How can I fix the Pop e-mail account password
problem? Should I contact Apple and pay to ask them a question? I'm really perplexed. Even though
"mail" is not in my keychain access list, I tried to look at other passwords for other things and a prompt
asks me for a "keychain access password". I never had one! But that's a different issue. For now I'll settle for
a solution to my POP password problem.

Thank u for your suggestions. I'm the only one who uses this computer but I do have another mail account with g-mail which I only opened after the POP account failed. I repaired the keychain access to no avail but it did say that there was "no problem" with the chain. I reset the chain and I still can't send or receive e-mails from my POP account. I called Time Warner cable and they said they thought there could be a problem on their end and they
were checking it out. But the problem remains that even if they fix the problem that is rejecting my e-mail password, I now have no e-mail password to type in. It used to be saved in Preferences and now it's no longer there. If I can't retrieve the password from somewhere (it's not on my keychain access list) I don't know how to get the password or create a new one. As a result of resetting the keychain I now have a keychain access password. But there's no POP account or any mail app in the keychain list to use it with.

  • Using a POP mail account in mac mail

My friend has an AT&T sbcglobal POP mail account he has added to his mac mail app. Since it is POP mail it is not always received in his mac mail box if AT&T Yahoo account receives it first. I guess he can prevent the Yahoo mail box from downloading the messages if he signs out of the Yahoo account. But he also has an iPhone. So will he still have the race problem between the computer & the iPhone on which gets the mail first?
Appreciate any suggestions on how this can be solved?

    For POP:
    The following mail server settings will work with all AT&T email domains: @ameritech.net, @att.net, @bellsouth.net, @flash.net, @nvbell.net, @pacbell.net, @prodigy.net, @sbcglobal.net, @snet.net, @swbell.net, @wans.net.
    Email Program Settings Field:
    Enter:
    Incoming (POP)
    inbound.att.net
    Outgoing (SMTP)
    outbound.att.net(requires authentication)
    Incoming mail server:
    POP3
    Incoming/Outgoing User Name:
Full AT&T email address, including domain (e.g., [email protected], [email protected])
    Incoming mail port #:
    995, secure connection (SSL) checked
    Outgoing mail port #
    465, secure connection (SSL) checked
I assume the settings you are refering to gives that delay for marking the messages as read when highlighted for that period of time. Probably for scrolling through the list without changing the unread status. Lion doesn't have that selection, so I can't test that at the moment.

  • How do I set up a hotmail e-mail account on my iphone?

How do I set up a hotmail e-mail account on my iphone?

Microsoft just changed this POP mail item this month - they now allow this with a HOTMAIL PLUS account -
I was finally able to set up my iphone to support my Hotmail Plus email account. I did make a mistake initially which caused it to fail at first so I delete the new account and tried again - here are my steps:
    1. Go to Settings
    2. Go to Mail
    3. Go to Add a new Account
    4. Click Other
    5. Click the POP button - do not leave it on the default IMAP button (this is where I mady my mistake.
Then fill in these values as the prior poster noted:
NAME: Enter your name here, or some other value.
ADDRESS: Enter your full hotmail email address
DESCRIPTION: Create a description such as "hotmail account"
    INCOMING MAIL SERVER
    Host name: pop3.live.com
User name: (enter your full hotmail email address)
Password: (enter your password for this account)
    OUTGOING MAIL SERVER
    Host Name: smtp.live.com
User Name: (enter your full hotmail email address)
Password: (enter the password for this account)
    Under the ADVANCED SETTINGS
Make sure incoming and outgoing SSL is 'ON' - Authentication is set to Password
Pleaes note also that my hotmail account has a couple thousand emails in it going back several years so my iphone started inporting the first 200 - then it stopped, so I had to delete many of them, check for mail again and it imported some more, then I deleted more, imported more, and on and on - and it seems to do it by date, so the oldest messages come in first - justs something to keep in mind.
If you don't have a hotmail plus account - it might be worth the $20 a year to get this access if you use your hotmail alot. It beats forwarding messasges to another email to come into your phone or useing some third party like izy that than has your password info.

  • Pop mail account

i can not figure out for the life of me how to add folders to my pop account, is there a way add a folder to place the emails I want to save? i can add folders from my yahoo account but cant from my pop account.... anyone know how to its driving me crazy.

POP mail accounts do not use folders. IMAP accounts can use and sync folders to the iPhone.

  • Deleted POP mail account and messages went with it.  HELP!!!!!!

To start off, I am fairly new to the Mac world. I have been having problems with Mail and my outgoing smtp server. I thought that if I deleted my pop mail account and then recreated it it would stop hanging on my outgoing mail. I am a previous Windows user and this practice causes no harm there and I mistakenly drew the same conclusion here. So I deleted the account and then set it up again and low and behold all of my messages are now gone except for the 850 or so that I have had this year.
Is there anywhere that I can find the old mail messages hidden on my mac? I'm sure that it has them saved somewhere, I just don''t know where to look. I would really appreciate any help. I had about 6000 messages from the last couple of years and I often need to search back through old emails.
    Brad

When you go to delete an account, a warning pops up displaying
"This will permanently delete the account setup information, mailboxes, and messages from your computer. Copies of messages on the mail server, if they exist, are not affected."
If you acknowlege the warning and click 'OK' then the account setup information, mailboxes, and messages are permanently deleted from your computer.
If you want to have any hope of salvaging the data from the hard disk, you'll need to stop using the computer and either install data recovery software(FileSalvage, for example) on an external HD or send the disk out to a data recovery service.
For future reference, if you find yourself wanting to start over with a Mail account-or any app-you can delete the .plist file for the app from Users/~/Library/Preferences
