How do I find out how much space a user is using towards their disk quota?

Weird problem on my OS X Server (Tiger) system: a user can't copy files into their share on the volume (SMB access from a WinPC) and is getting an "out of quota" error. She thinks she doesn't have that much stuff on the server, and I've set her quota to be huge. How do I find out, on the OS X Server system, how much space it thinks that username is using towards her quota?

Thanks - I'll post there.
But, could this Quota/Share be over the 4GB SMB limit?
what's the 4Gb SMB limit? A single file is over that large? We don't have that. Or it can't see any shares that have more than 4 Gb in them total? We definitely have that!

  • How do I find out how much of my hard drive space is used up

I have a Mac OS X Version 10.7.5. Processor 2.66 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo; Memory 2 GB 1067 MHz DDR3. Computer is running very slow. I cleared downloads and reset Safari, emptied trash, etc. How  can I find out how much space I have left on my hard drive?

As you appear to have at least OS 10.7 installed, you can simply highlight your hard drive and press the SPACE bar to get this:

  • How do I find out how much space OSX and applications are taking up on my HDD?

I am thinking of moving my OS and all applications to a SSD to free up space on my MBP.
My question is how do I find out how much space OSX and installed applications are taking up on my HDD so I know how big the SSD needs to be?  Also, what is the best way to move these files across to the new SSD once installed?
    Many thanks,
    Andrew.

If you do command-click or right click on your hard drive and select get info, it will tell you how full the HD is.
there are some apps that can show you exactly how big particular apps are

I replaced my internal drive with a SSD for performance reasons a few months ago. There are a number of ways to move your files over to the new SSD. I am a fan of the clean install, which might take a bit more time and effort but results in a very fast and trouble free mac. An easy way to do this if you are replacing your internal drive is to put the old drive in an external drive enclosure. Then you install the new SSD and install mavericks on it. In my case I used Diskmaker X to make a Mavericks installer (DiskMaker X (formerly Lion DiskMaker) . Then you can reinstall your apps from scratch, and finally move your documents over from the external drive.

Locate iPhoto Library (the default location is <~/Documents/Pictures/iPhoto Library>), select it, and choose File > Get Info.

Or you can download OmniDiskSweeper (free). It will list your disc usage in order of size and you can follow the paths to find individual files or applications.

How do i find out how much space i have left on my computer?

Disk space can now be seen in the "About This Mac" window. Click on the Apple icon, select About This Mac then click More Info... There you will find a Storage tab that will list all connected drives in a bar graph similar to how storage is displayed in iTunes for iOS devices.

  • How can I find out how much space left on a hard drive connected to an airport?

When I go into the finder and choose the AirPort, the external drive that's hooked up to the airport shows up just fine, though its icon is a folder, not a "hard drive" icon. But if I try to do "info" on the drive, it says "zero KB on disk." I know this isn't true, since my entire iTunes library is on that disk.  How can I find out how much room is left on that hard drive?

You should be able to see both the total capacity and remaining available on the Disks tab within the AirPort Utility.
ref: AirPort Utility > Select the Extreme > Manual Setup > Disks > Disks tab, and then, click on the shared disk volume name.
Although the following is an AirPort Utility screen-shot of a Time Capsule, it should look identical for the AirPort Extreme.

  • HT1689 How do I find out how much is left in my iTunes account on an iPad with retina display? I've swiped to the bottom of the screen to look for it, I've looked in settings and everywhere else I can think of! Help please!

How do I find out how much is left in my iTunes account? I've looked all over and can't find it!  Help!

In the iTunes or App Store app, go to the Featured Tab, and swipe all the way to the bottom.
On the button that has your Apple ID it should state your account balance under your Apple ID.
If it doesn't. Tap on the button to bring up your Apple ID. At the top of the window that opens there should be a line that reads: "Apple ID Balance:"  and the amount you have.

  • How do I find out how much tax costs

Trying to purchase an app via the app store, the app is $99.99 and I have $100 in credit.  But I am getting the error that I have insufficient store credit to make the purchase.  In the forums, others have had the same issue, and many of those issues were resolved as not having enough in credit to cover tax.
So how do I find out how much tax is going to cost for any particular app so I will know how much more I will need to add in credit?  And why is the cost of tax not included with the cost of the app?!  Why is there no actual representation of the real costs including taxes and any additional fees for any given app in the App Store?!

The tax is the sales tax rate for the state in which you reside. Multiply your sales tax rate times the price of the software to find out what is needed to cover both.

How can I find out how much is left on my ITunes gift card?

My account's balance shows at the top left of the store's page on my computer's iTunes, and by logging in to view my account on it (via the Store > View Account menu option). On my iPad and iPhone it shows at the bottom of, for example, the Featured tab in the App Store app under my account id (or you can view your account via Settings > iTunes & App Stores and it should show on the screen that you are taken to)

How do I find out how much is left on m itunes gift card?

Once you redeem the card, there is no value left on it.  The Redeem process puts the full amount as a credit balance into your account, and then you spend it down by using your account.
As Gnome notes, you can always see how much is credit balance is on your account.
