How do I find out how much space left on Time Capsule?
Hi,
Tried looking at Info but doesn't show me the size of the Time Capsule or how much space have left. Any ideas please? Thanks
I followed this thread to System Preferences and to Time Machine, but the space available does not show. I have another external drive that does show its available space but the Time Capsule does not.
Any suggestions? I know it is working because my hard drive recently crashed and I was able to restore everything through Time Capsule.

How much space left for the new System Restore Point(s) creation ??
Sir,
MY LAPTOP : single OS, windows 7 sp1 , ultimate 64 , 2gb ram , 4ghz processor,
kaspersky antivirus full,
total hard disk 150gb, C: 38.9gb, 11.2 gb free space on C: ,
allocation for SR Points for C: 2.73gb (7%)
PROBLEM:(SR Point: System Restore Point)
sir, i am facing a problem of false reporting of the space occupied by a SR Point and so, it is unable to know how much space is left for new SR Points such that the old ones dont get eliminated. Here it is always increasing as the time progresses
1. I created a SR Point at 9:21PM space occupied being shown 114.97mb
2. The same SR point showing the space occupied at 9:23pm 115.06mb
3. After 20 hours it is being shown as 272.36mb !
4. After sometime ,it would show the space (occupied) even more than the actual allocation for eg.
the full allocation is 2.73gb and it will show 3.1gb occupied by the same single SR Point
[for solution of the problem i am managing the single SR Point that is by not doing anything that will trigger the creation of new SR Point(s) ]
SNAP 1 : plz see only one SR Point is there on c:(the other one is system image back up on another drive)
SNAP 2 : Plz see that the space occupied by the same single SR Point is 276.50 mb which was 114.97 mb initially.SORRY , ONLY TWO IMAGES ALLOWED!
HISTORY : since last 6 months the laptop is with me and when I received it, system protection was off. When I made it active , it used to create SR points very frequently for e.g. 10 points in 2 days. So I stopped its automatic creation
2 months back. I disabled both the triggers and the task.
SNAP 3 : both the triggers and task disabled.
NOW
(.) it makes restore points either manually (by me) or by system in the case of install or updates only,
And I am comfortable with it !
(.) SR Point restore is full success !
(.) but the PROBLEM is there !
So,
Is something wrong going to happen to the hard disk ?
Is it a malicious activity ?
Does a full defragmentation for a drive deletes all the restore points on the drive ? (it happens here!)
How should I proceed ?If you are being told you cant post a link, or embed a picture (or any other restriction) you just need to post to this thread saying your account has not been validated

How can I find out how much space left on a hard drive connected to an airport?
When I go into the finder and choose the AirPort, the external drive that's hooked up to the airport shows up just fine, though its icon is a folder, not a "hard drive" icon. But if I try to do "info" on the drive, it says "zero KB on disk." I know this isn't true, since my entire iTunes library is on that disk. How can I find out how much room is left on that hard drive?
You should be able to see both the total capacity and remaining available on the Disks tab within the AirPort Utility.
ref: AirPort Utility > Select the Extreme > Manual Setup > Disks > Disks tab, and then, click on the shared disk volume name.
Although the following is an AirPort Utility screen-shot of a Time Capsule, it should look identical for the AirPort Extreme. -
How much space a Date , time , TimeStamp column occupy?
Hi
what is size of a Date , Time and TimeStamp type ?
i mean how much bytes they require ?
ThanksApologies if this posts more than once. I got server errors.
Laurent:
Sysdate and systimestamp are actually different types than a date or timestamp column.
SQL> CREATE TABLE dt (dt DATE, ts TIMESTAMP);
Table created.
SQL> INSERT INTO dt VALUES(sysdate, systimestamp);
1 row created.
SQL> COMMIT;
Commit complete.
DUMP(DT)
Typ=12 Len=7: 120,106,6,2,17,43,10
SQL> SELECT DUMP(ts) FROM dt;
DUMP(TS)
Typ=180 Len=11: 120,106,6,2,17,43,10,28,185,249,48
SQL> SELECT DUMP(sysdate) from dual;
DUMP(SYSDATE)
Typ=13 Len=8: 7,214,6,2,16,50,17,0
SQL> SELECT DUMP(systimestamp) from dual;
DUMP(SYSTIMESTAMP)
Typ=188 Len=20: 7,214,6,2,20,50,30,0,48,111,78,168,252,0,5,0,0,0,0,0I seem to recall reading somewhere that sysdate is actually a representation of the C struct_t time structure, while a date column is Oracle's internal format. It looks like something similar is going on with systimestamp, and with the date and timestamp casts you are doing.
The inserts into the table above were done minutes before the selects, but definitely within the same hour. The byte values have no correlation, between the date field and sysdate, nor between the timestamp field and systimestamp, while the the date and timestamp fields are identical to the second. Similarly, the sysdate and systimestamp dumps are identical to the second.
The vsize function reports the physical storage required for the expression passed. My guess would be that it is implicitly casting sysdate and systimestamp to the equivalent internal representation before calculating the size.

How can I find out how much space iMovie content is taking up on my iMac?

How do I find out how much space OSX and applications are taking up on my HDD?
I am thinking of moving my OS and all applications to a SSD to free up space on my MBP.
My question is how do I find out how much space OSX and installed applications are taking up on my HDD so I know how big the SSD needs to be? Also, what is the best way to move these files across to the new SSD once installed?
Many thanks,
Andrew.If you do command-click or right click on your hard drive and select get info, it will tell you how full the HD is.
there are some apps that can show you exactly how big particular apps are

Disk Inventory X
I replaced my internal drive with a SSD for performance reasons a few months ago. There are a number of ways to move your files over to the new SSD. I am a fan of the clean install, which might take a bit more time and effort but results in a very fast and trouble free mac. An easy way to do this if you are replacing your internal drive is to put the old drive in an external drive enclosure. Then you install the new SSD and install mavericks on it. In my case I used Diskmaker X to make a Mavericks installer (DiskMaker X (formerly Lion DiskMaker) . Then you can reinstall your apps from scratch, and finally move your documents over from the external drive. -

How to find out how much space is left
Hi,
I know Oracle XE has a 4GB user data limit, and a 5GB overall limit. Using APEX you can find out how much space is left via the administration section.
I'm going to upgrade to APEX 3.0 for testing. However APEX 3.0 will not show me how much space I have left since it's not explicitly written for Oracle XE. What query can I run to find out how much space I have left?
Thanks,
MartinThe following should give you the same results as XE administration => storage :
select total, allocated, 100 - allocated / total * 100 percent_free
from (select 5120 total, sum(bytes)/1024/1024 allocated
from dba_data_files
where tablespace_name != 'UNDO') -
How to find out how much space apps are taking
i don't know when this happened but i'm using about 85gb of my 250gb hard drive, when it used to be around 50gb. so i was wondering why when i look at itunes music it shows how much space it's taking the bottom, but if i go to the app section of itunes it only shows '198 apps', but not how much space it's taking? do the apps that i have in itunes take up space on my hard drive and how do i find out how much? also i see in finder that i have some previous itunes libraries, is it safe to delete these, some are from 2008. thanks for any help.
No. It does not do that.
Just about anything from your Home directory where your files are kept can be deleted or moved.
Outside of the Home directory you have to be careful since you don't want to destroy your system.
If you have large folders or files outside of your Home directory, please ask first before moving or deleting.

I downloaded the new mavericks operating system on my macbook pro and I can't find out how much space I have left. Before the installation of mavericks, storage space left was displayed at the bottom of the Finder window.
In the Finder, under the View menu there is an option to Show Status Bar. Select that and you will see the info on the bottom of folders again.

How do I find out how much space a user is using towards their disk quota?
Weird problem on my OS X Server (Tiger) system: a user can't copy files into their share on the volume (SMB access from a WinPC) and is getting an "out of quota" error. She thinks she doesn't have that much stuff on the server, and I've set her quota to be huge. How do I find out, on the OS X Server system, how much space it thinks that username is using towards her quota?

Thanks - I'll post there.
But, could this Quota/Share be over the 4GB SMB limit?
what's the 4Gb SMB limit? A single file is over that large? We don't have that. Or it can't see any shares that have more than 4 Gb in them total? We definitely have that!

Where do I go to find out how much space I have left on my hard drive. And how do I find out how much space is left on the portable memory stick?
Open any folder on it and choose Show Status Bar from the Finder’s View menu.
Alternatively, choose Computer from the Go menu, control-click the drive, and choose Get Info.

Where do i find out how much space i have available on my computer
I have a macbook pro and was wondering how to find out how much space I have available. I need to download pictures off my external drive to format it.
Many possibility. If you want to see, how the disk space is used, click the -menu and select "About this Mac".
In the "About" panel click "More Info".
Then you can explore your Mac. Click the "Storage" tab.
It will show you, how the disk space is used for photos, apps, etc. for all connected drives.
This screenshot is for MacOs X 10.9.4. -
