Choose Computer from the Finder's Go menu, control-click the internal drive, and select Get Info. Alternatively, open any folder on it, and if needed, choose Show Status Bar from the View menu.

  • How do I find out how much space I have left on my macbook pro? I downloaded the new mavericks operating system and can't figure it out. Before the space would be at the bottom of my finder.

I downloaded the new mavericks operating system on my macbook pro and I can't find out how much space I have left. Before the installation of mavericks, storage space left was displayed at the bottom of the Finder window.

In the Finder, under the View menu there is an option to Show Status Bar.  Select that and you will see the info on the bottom of folders again.

  • How to find out where my storage space is going?

So, I have had this MacBook Pro 2009 for the past year, and it has treated me fairly well, so far! I have a question about my Hard Drive Space:
I purchased my laptop with a 250 GB Hard Drive, so I understand that I should get just over 200 GB's of actual storage space. Now I look and it says I have just about 15 gigs remaining. I was absolutely amazed, as I don't feel that I have an excess of programs, music, videos, or anything else to take up all fo the room. I would like to do 2 things, if I could:
1- I would like to be able to find out exactly where my storage has gone. I realize that I could go through and click on every single file and folder, one by one, to see how big it is, but is there an easier way? For example, I would love to see how much space each of my programs are taking up, or see if maybe I have duplicate videos somewhere, etc. Is there an easy way to do this?
2- I have also noticed that, if I uninstall a program, there is usually something left over in my Libraries folder, and in other places. I'm wondering...is there some sort of a disc cleaner, that will delete unnecessary files, hidden things, stuff like that?
Thanks for any/all help! Any suggestions as to how I can free up space on my HDD would be great.

    1. Disc Inventory X will show you what's using the space.
    2. CleanMyMac will help you delete unwanted and left-over items.

  • About this Mac does not have a storage tab on my MacBook Pro  How do I find the storage info

I am looking to find how much storage capacity I have left on my MacBook Pro....  I have read clicking on About my Mac and going to additional Info, but the window showing the info does not display a tab to view Storage.....should it and how do I restore it

Select the drive's Desktop icon. Press COMMAND-I to open the Get Info window. The information is displayed in the topmost panel as: Capacity, Available, and Used.

Disk space can now be seen in the "About This Mac" window. Click on the Apple icon, select About This Mac then click More Info... There you will find a Storage tab that will list all connected drives in a bar graph similar to how storage is displayed in iTunes for iOS devices.

  • I want to find out how and if I am able to retrieve emails of which I should have received while my iCloud storage was full.

I had to upgrade my storage for my iCloud account, and in this time between the storage being full and the upgrade, I was unable to send or receive emails.
I have been trying to find any information as to if there is such a way to now retrieve those emails.
Of course, with this happening over the silly season, I was unable to upgrade my storage straight away, therefore there are days of 'missed' emails.
I have tried accessing my iCloud account from multiple devices, and still have no luck!
If there is any suggestions and advice, I would appreciate it!!
    Thanks!!

  • I want to find out how much memory is left on my macbook pro. I need to know steps to find this out.

I had a problem today as my computer would not save a file for me.  A box stated macintosh HD was full and I would need to clear some files to make room.  I realized that although I had deleted emails from mac mail, gmail had not deleted these and all still remained on my macbook pro.  I went to gmail and finally deleted all the emails, and there were thousands.  I have been able to save a file as of now but want to know how much memory exists on my macbook pro.  It is confusing when I go to the Apple icon in the upper left corner of my laptop as that states my computer has 4gb of memory, two in each slot.  It does not tell me how much as been used.  Any help with this issue is greatly appreciated.  M.

  • How can I find out the percentage of space taken up by a vector in a document?

    Hi all,
I've been doing visual research over the last couple of years, and part of this has resulted in hundreds of in-design documents with vectors of varying sizes in each. Essentially, I'm hoping to find a quick way to find out the percentage of space occupied by these vectors. I can't figure out how to go in to each document and find the info on the selected vector. I know that Photoshop has options to see pixels when using selection tools, but I've found this both cumbersome and inaccurate.
Any ideas would be greatly appreciated!
    Cheers,
    Kevin

  • How do I find out how many GB's are left on my MacBook Pro?

I just bought mine a week ago or so and I recently transferred all my files over to it. So, I was wondering to how much space I left on it, but I can't for the life of me find that information. It's the only thing so far about my old PC that's not better with my Mac.

    Welcome to Apple Discussions!
You can look in the System Profiler (>About this Mac>More Info>Hardware>Serial-ATA). It will be in the hard drive information.
You can also have it displayed on your desktop by the hard drive icon. Click on the desktop to get into Finder, and then click on "View" in the menu bar. Go to "View Options". Check the "Show Item Info" box. You can select the text size and if you want the info on the bottom or to the right.
    Good luck!

  • Wrong photos/videos reading in About This Mac - Storage Tab

I have updated to Photos from iPhotos but now when i hit about this mac and storage reading ... i get it all messed up it shows 1GB of photos where i have at least 20GB .. is there any way to fix this ? before i used to re-index the database but i don't know how to do this in the new app

IF you set up Photos to keep only an "optimized" library on your local drive, the size will be substantially smaller than if you chose to keep "original."
How large is the library when you navigate to your User > Pictures folder and check the size there?

  • Is there a way to access iCloud to find out how much storage space I need to install music on iPhone? Genius Bar was not very helpful...

I have several questions I could not get answered yesterday...
Does the number of songs listed on iPhone represent music available on iPhone or in iCloud.
How do find out how much space of music you have in iCloud you need for iPhone to download all music?
Is there a easier way to get the music available in iCloud downloaded to iPhone without separately downloading each album separately?
Last question...if the music is not downloaded...does it get played at all when on wi-fi?

Both. If you have the setting to "show all music" set to ON you will see all music that is available. If the setting is set to OFF you will only see music that is stored locally on the device.

iTunes Match does not use your iCloud storage.

Music can be downloaded by Album, Artist or Playlist. Or you can disable iTM, sync music via USB, then re-enable the iTM service.

    Yes.

  • Is there a way to find out how much storage I have used on my iphone4s?

I am new to icloud and want to back up my phone but it is saying I have too much data to back up to the free 5.0GB.  I can purchase more but note sure how much I will need.  Is there a way to find out how much storage my phone is currently using?

Go to Settings - General - Usage, and you will see a breakdown of all your apps along with how much space they are using.
My guess is that you have a lot of pictures that should probably be exported to your PC/Mac to free up your space.   5GB is a lot for one phone, you should be able to get by without buying more storage if you do a little housecleaning first.
