How do I find out if something is blocking my access to i-tunes. I have updated all of my information on their website, but am still unable to purchase music downloads.

I can connect to i-tunes website. when I go to store to browse, I need to click on the i-tunes task bar under view to show options for browsing. It does not show the grid anymore unless I do that first. once I make a selection and click "buy" it tells me that i need to update my credit card information. I have already done that. I have checked i-tunes help and they sent e-mail suggesting that it is an issue on my computer.

is there a way of getting rid of "local caches from apps, browsers, mail, Messages, Reading List, saved games" other than a backup and restore ?

Please boot in safe mode and test. Still slow? If you connect to a wireless network, you may have to connect with Ethernet in safe mode.

Many thanks JEM24 for your help. Ive just spent the best part of six hundred pounds on a new Sony Rx100m2 compact camera, so I have no interest in the Ipods camera at all really. I doubt Ill be watching many videos on it as Im very lucky in that I have a good Android tablet. Its more as a stock music player that Ill be buying the Ipod for, if indeed I do end up buying one. I dont like the idea of paying the exorbitant amount added for more memory space that Apple along with most other companies charge. In fact I read an article on this very subject just yesterday in the tech section of Flipboard. It stated in the article that in the case of the Iphone the actual cost of each additional gigabyte of storage to Apple et al is something in the order of 60p.. This is certainly not reflected in the price us the customer has to pay at the till.. Its for this reason primarily that Apple in particular, because their products do not allow adding expandable memory of your own in the form of cheap to buy cards, that nobody in their right mind buys the 64gig etc Iphones..I am aware that we are discussing my potential purchase of an Ipod Touch here but you see my point. If you mean which computers that your account is authorised on then you can't, you can only see the count.
Have you had other computers in the past and/or updated or reinstalled the OS on your current computers without deauthorising them ?
As you have 5 computers authorised then you can log into your account on a computer's iTunes via the Store > View Account menu option and 'deauthorise all' (which you can do once every 12 months) and you can then authorise/reauthorise the computers that you still have and need : authorising and deauthorising.

Ask them? There is no way for you know without asking them directly. Anything anyone adds to their blocked list is only known to them, and those they choose to tell. Since it is a personal decision to block or unblock someone and a privacy issue as to whom they have blocked, nobody else has any way to find out without asking the person directly.

How do I find out what filter effect I used on an image after I have saved it?

I used a series of filters that gave an image a very cool painterly - impressionistic painting - quality. I have forgot what steps I took to get that effect. I have tried to go back and look at the image history but that did not tell me anything since I already saved the image. The finished photo looked like swirly painted brush strokes with depth just like you would get if you actually painted it.
I recall an old program like Fractal Painter used to have some filters like that. I don't think Fractal Painter even exists anymore. Does anyone know what I may have done to get that effect or how I can look at the image data to figure out what filters I used?

In Applicaitons > Utilities you will find System Profiler. Launch it (or you can avoid getting to the Utilties folder by holding the Option/alt key then clicking on your Apple menu.)
In the "Contents" pane on the left edge of the window, expand the "Software" section and click on "Logs" to get a screen similar to this:
Highlight "system.log" as shown and, with a lot of scrolling, you can see when the computer was opened over the last couple of days. The log gets overwritten eventually to save room so, if you suspect the intrusion was a few weeks ago, the entry is probably not there.

The illustrator files are all correct, just the person responsible didn't finish creating PDFs. I have one to use as a reference but need to know exactly which settings he used to create it from illustrator, are these somehow embedded in the PDF?

I think it is much deeper than that, we have been proofing colours to take to artwork using PMS separations and have the Ai files ready to go, just wouldn't know where to start setting them up for our Plotter.
We have got all the colours right and the Epson is coping pretty well with matching them, just can't get the PDF settings right.

Even if you had purchased an iPhone prior to the 2nd generation iPhone being released, this would not have prevented you from purchasing the 2nd generation and activating it with your O2 account, and selling your existing iPhone.
The 18 month contract is not tied to a particular iPhone - at least not with at&t in the U.S. If my iPhone was lost or stolen, and I purchased another iPhone as a replacement, I could activate the new iPhone with my existing at&t account under my current contract without having to sign a new two year contract on the new iPhone's activation date, and without any penalty. The iPhone is not subsidized by the cellular provider in the typical way.
No point in your purchasing an iPhone from the U.S. anyway. The iPhone is sold in the U.S. as carrier locked with at&t only. The only way you could use an iPhone purchased in the U.S. with O2, or with any other GSM network provider besides at&t is by hacking the iPhone to unlock it. Doing so is against Apple's license agreement for the iPhone, it not supported by Apple, voids the warranty, and will prevent you from installing future iPhone updates, or at least until the hack used is update to be compatible with a new update. The same applies when Restoring an iPhone if needed or wanted.
Since you live in the UK, and if you don't have any problems with O2 as a provider, you will be much better off purchasing an iPhone sold in the UK, which is sold by Apple in the UK as carrier locked with O2 only.

When I have opened older Projects in later versions, I have gotten a very useful dialog screen, telling me of missing Transitions (exact name and TimeCode), and of missing Effects. Do you not get such?
When you Open the CS3 Project, is any Clip flagged?
Considering how well PrPro has picked up on missing 3rd party stuff, I would be surprised, that it did not give you all of the necessary info.

That has nothing to do with OS X or your iMac, if you think someone has been using your Internet connection then you need to turn on the security on your WI-FI router. Please look in the owners manual of your router for instructions.
