  • How do I find out what OS my Macbook Pro is running?

I have a Macbook pro that I purchased a few years ago.  To my knowledge, I have never upgraded the OS.  However, I'm not sure.  How do I find out what OS I'm running and what I'm eligible to upgrade to?
Thank you in advance for your help!!

10.7 or Lion is already out and has been for over a year.
The one that is coming is 10.8 or Mountion Lion.
You will need to buy the DVD for 10.6 but not for 10.5.
After you upgrade to 10.6.8 then you can use the App Store to download and install either 10.7 or 10.8 when it is release later this month.
This is provided your Mac mets the hardware requirements for them.

  • How do I find out what year my MacBook Pro is?  I want to know if I can use the mirroring function with my Apple TV if I download Mountain Lion.

I'm trying to find out if I can use the mirror function to look at large construction drawings using my Apple TV.  It says that my MacBook Pro has to be early 2011 or newer and I can't remember what it is.

  • Hi how can I find out what model this?

Hi I am trying to down load netflix or Disney jr but it did not let me and state I need to update OIS 5?

Go to Settings->General->About and look for "Version".
If its anything less than 5, you will need to update.
You'll need to connect your iPad to a Computer running iTuines (Can be a Mac or a Pc doesn't matter) and follow the update prompts.
You'll probably want to back up the iPad before updating though.

  • How do I find out what OS my macbook was installed with

Ok here's my problem, a while ago my mac book stoped wotking altogether so I took it into a computer repair shope who advised me that the both the memory and hard drive needed replaced so I authorized this to happen, then they asked me to provide the OS disc that came with the machine but for some reason it's totally dissapeared now and I cannot find it, from memory I seem to recall it being a 10.6.7 version and I've looked around to see if i can find one for sale but can only find ones like 10.6.3 so my question is,am I able to use the later to get the OS installed and then go from that to Lion, or must I install the 10.6.7 that I think is the one that was installed with machine when I bought it?
any help will be appreciated, thank you in advance

    Welcome to Apple Support Communities
You need the Mac OS X 10.6.7 DVD that came with your computer because the Mac OS X 10.6.3 disc isn't compatible with the MacBook you are using. Call Apple to get replacement DVDs > http://support.apple.com/kb/HE57
The best way to know what Mac OS X version came your MacBook with is to provide the Model Identifier, that you can find in "System Profiler" application. Another option is to insert the last numbers of the serial number in this website > http://www.everymac.com/ultimate-mac-lookup/
After installing Mac OS X 10.6, you will be able to upgrade to Lion or Mountain Lion. Make a backup of your data before upgrading and check that your applications are supported > http://www.roaringapps.com

I got the hard drive upgrade kit and now have the old drive in the On-The-Go-Pro external enclosure and the new drive in the Macbook Pro. I booted from the old drive and now I'm ready to restore to the new drive using Disk Utility but I'm not sure exactly what to select as the Source and Destination.
Three disks are listed in the left frame. The new Samsung disk, the old drive in the OTGPro external enclosure with a volume called "Macintosh HD" and something called "disk 2" with a volume of Mac OS X Base System under it.
I think I should select "Macintosh HD" as the source and the Samsung Drive as the destination. But I'm not certain.
What's the correct source and destination?

  • How can you find out what generation your iPod touch is?

How can you find out what generation your iPod touch is?

    Hi,
Here is help for the operating system:
If you are locked to iOS 3 then you have an iPod Touch 1st Gen.
If you are locked to iOS 4 then you have an iPod Touch 2nd Gen.
If you are locked to iOS 5 then you have an iPod Touch 3rd Gen.
If you are locked to iOS 6 then you have an iPod Touch 4th Gen.
If you can get iOS 7 and have an iPhone 5 sized screen [bigger] you have the current iPod Touch 5th Gen.
I assume since it says you have iOS 5.1.1 you have an iPod Touch 3rd Gen.
Also, you may want to sync it so iTunes can tell you or you can look at the model number on the back.
    Hope this helped.

  • How can i find out what country my computer was purchased?

I got my computer as a gift and the gifter is no longer available. I called the HP Americas support center, but because my notebook was bought outside of the Americas they can't tell me anything about my computer, including what country was sold even with my serial number or if it is in warranty. Therefore, Customer Support can't direct me to the right service desk. All the know is that they can't help me. I have a Pavilion M6 1051xx.
Short of going to every country customer support website, I'm stuck. How can I find out what country was sold, so that I can get hardware support?

xx at the end is not a valid model number and those two letters give us some clue as to which market the laptop was sold in. It should be dv or ea or something like that.
