How do I find Photos taken in a particular time zone?

Hi, I have several hundred pictures taken in and around Calgary Alberta. Lots of the pictures have the correct time but the wrong time zone (GMT instead of MST). If I batch change the time zone from GMT to the correct one the times get changed also and are out by 7 hours. If I then change the time using the Adjust Date/Time meta data menu the time zone changes back to GMT!
So I changed the time by 7 hours and then batch changed the time zone and it works.
Now I need a way to find all the pictures that have the time zone of GMT in amongst the hundreds of correct ones. I have tried smart albums but cannot find a way to filter for time zones - Help!
Thanks
P.S. I am using Aperture 3

Thanks so much for your response.  I tried that though and it did not work... any other suggestions?

  • How to make a smart album from a particular time zone?

I would like to make a smart album that contains photos taken in a particular time zone. But I could not find out the way to add a rule to read time zone information. Could anyone tell me how to retrieve the time zone information from the filter panel of Aperture 3?

to add a rule to read time zone information.
I could not find any metadata tag in aperture, that contains the Time Zone and is readable in the smart settings HUD.
Yu could try it indirectly - since the Time Zone is widely determined by the longitudes of the eastern and western boundaries of the zone, you could check for these longitude values, if your photos are geotagged or have Places assigned.
For example, to find the timezone of UTC+1 use these settings:
EXIF > Longitude is in the Range of: 7.7 to 22.5.
Depending on the countries, you may need to combine this rule with latitude rules as well or make a rule that simply uses the country names from the places tags.
For which timezone do you need the rule?

  • How can you find photos taken today when connecting to pc

You screwed up the software for any one using the Iphone as their camera, I used to use it constantly, but now I can not because of the way the new software recategorized my photos. The sub file folder names are totally useless to any one downloading to windows computers. Now I am forced to use another device an actual separate camera because of your screwing with the software handling of the photos. After all of your commercials about how people were using their Iphones as their primary camera, now you have made it useless to anyone using a PC to download their pictures!!!!!
    2
Even after transferring all of my photos to my computer and deleting off of Iphone, as soon as I take additional photos and it creates another photo folder under the DCIM that has meaningless combination of letters and numbers but it still has the same date of 01/06/2014. This is stupid to say the least. When you create a new folder it should have the date created or modified not some obscure date that is meaningless. And if it creates a new folder every day with the same meaningless info (name and date)then it renders the Iphone useless as a camera!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

While not elegant you can use this method to find the latest photos relatively quickly.
    1. Open DCIM folder on the iPhone with Windows Explorer.
2.. In the search bar type in an * (asterisk).
    3. This should display all of your photos including the date they were taken from all folders.
    4. Sort photos by date to locate the date range you need.
    5. Right click on any photo in the date range and then click on "open file location"
This should open the folder with all the files in that date range. If the photos have been split over 2 folders then repeat the operation for the first and then the last in that date range. Also note that for some reason you cannot drag and drop nor copy and paste from the search results. You need to open the containing folder.
Hope that helps until Apple fix the problem!!!

  • How can I find photos that are not assigned to any collection?

    Hi !
    I'm using LR 5.7.1 on a Mac.
When I've retouched raw pictures with PS CC (and do not need the PSD file any longer) I export the PSD (that is in my catalog) as JPG and let it add to my catalog automatically. After that I delete the PSD file. That works fine.
But .... the new JPG file is not assigned to any collection. That's no problem unless I forget to do it manually after that export (and import).
That brings me to my question.
How can I find photos that are not assigned to any collection?
I tried it with a smart collection after I found nothing suitable in library filter. The search criteria I tried are Source -> Collection with any of the conditions. One with an empty value field, then with just a space and so on.
Has anybody a good hint for me?
    Thomas

You can also add numbers if you have collections that don't use alphabet characters.

    @ Philly
    Yes there is,
When you recieve a mail with an attachement (inline or as a picture) right click (or control click) the attachement and choose "show as symbol" or "show fullsize" (or completely or something like that, I don't work in English version). Mail will take this as a general preference.

  • How do I find photos without a keyword tag?

How do I find photos without a keyword tag?
And by the way a further question regarding keyword tags remains unanswered...Why is there a difference between the number next to the keyword and the actual index number in the keyword folder?

I will try and explain in more detail to ensure we don't talk past each other.
I'm in "Catalog" and "All Photographs" is highlighted.
I selected to show the "Index Number" under "Library View Options".
In "Keyword List" I have main keywords such as Europe, Africa and Asia with no number to the right of it.
If I open the Europe keyword I have a list of countries each of them with a number next to them.
Next to Spain there is now showing the number 46.
I open "Spain" by clicking on the arrow to the right of the number.
Now all the photos with the Spain tag is shown but there are only 23 photo.  Under Portugal there is 80 shown but only 40 photos is shown.  Under Ireland the keyword only 11 is shown but once open there are 1132 photos.
There is not one keyword with the correct number next to it.
As a fairly new LR user it just appears to me that the two function don't "speak" or "correlate" with each other.

    Hi Gary,
    I never use TM myself...
Have you looked through Pondini's extensive TM help site?

Can't imagine something not being covered there.

  • How do i find photos from iPhoto to upload to ebay?, how do i find photos from iPhoto to upload to ebay?

how do i find photos on iphoto on my mac to upload to ebay?

    The first of these:
There are many, many ways to access your files in iPhoto:   You can use any Open / Attach / Browse dialogue. On the left there's a Media heading, your pics can be accessed there. Command-Click for selecting multiple pics.
(Note the above illustration is not a Finder Window. It's the dialogue you get when you go File -> Open)
You can access the Library from the New Message Window in Mail:
There's a similar option in Outlook and many, many other apps.  If you use Apple's Mail, Entourage, AOL or Eudora you can email from within iPhoto.
If you use a Cocoa-based Browser such as Safari, you can drag the pics from the iPhoto Window to the Attach window in the browser.
If you want to access the files with iPhoto not running:
For users of 10.6 and later:  You can download a free Services component from MacOSXAutomation  which will give you access to the iPhoto Library from your Services Menu.
Using the Services Preference Pane you can even create a keyboard shortcut for it.
For Users of 10.4 and 10.5 Create a Media Browser using Automator (takes about 10 seconds) or use this free utility Karelia iMedia Browser
    Other options include:
Drag and Drop: Drag a photo from the iPhoto Window to the desktop, there iPhoto will make a full-sized copy of the pic.
File -> Export: Select the files in the iPhoto Window and go File -> Export. The dialogue will give you various options, including altering the format, naming the files and changing the size. Again, producing a copy.
Show File:  a. On iPhoto 09 and earlier:  Right- (or Control-) Click on a pic and in the resulting dialogue choose 'Show File'. A Finder window will pop open with the file already selected.    3.b.
b: On iPhoto 11 and later: Select one of the affected photos in the iPhoto Window and go File -> Reveal in Finder -> Original. A Finder window will pop open with the file already selected.

  • How do i retrieve photos from iphoto on a time machine backup?

how do i retrieve photos from iphoto on a time machine backup?

To restore the entire library do the following:
For a single photo you need to  know the file name?  If so you can extract photos one at a time out of the TM backups for import into iPhoto.  You would do it as follows:
1 - download and launch  Find Any File.
2 - select the Time Machine external hard drive.
3 - enter the file name and search. It will take longer than a normal search due to the nature of the Time Machine structure, maybe up to 1 miinute.
4 - select the file that is in the Masters or Originals folder in the search results window and drag to the Desktop where it can be imported into iPhoto:

The ipad won't sync some photos, saying the file can't be read by the ipad, however it will sync some photos taken at the same time which are the same size and file type.  Why does it reject some and accept others?

Hi there. I'm having the same problem: my iPad won't import some photos from a folder, saying that they can't be read. They are all JPEGS and some photos taken at the same time have synched fine, but out of a folder with 200 photos, it only lets me synch 37. I'm synching albums created via Photoshop Elements 6, which has worked fine until now.
I've tried deleting all photos and re-synching, and have also deleted the iPod Photo Cache, but it hasn't made a difference.
The iPad auto-updated to the latest version of iTunes, so maybe that's what's causing it?
    Any advice gratefully received!

If you don't have any application level logging, and auditing is not enabled, there's not much hope.
You could, if you have archive logs available, go trawling through archive logs via logminer, but that's likely to prove painful and not very fruitful, unless you're very meticulous and patient...

  • How to design EDW for source systems from different Time-Zones

How to design EDW for source systems from different Time-Zones?
Suppose IT landscape has a global BW in New York, and source systems in americas, europe and asia, then how the time-zones effect on time related things like delta selections on date or timestamp etc.

As you said BW is global in NY, your source system must be global too. People from various locations can connect to same source system and thus timestamps for delta is always maintained as 1 single time. We have same scenario in our project. Our R/3 system is used by users in US and Europe. So we run deltas twice in day to make sure we got deltas from both locations.
If scenarios was such that all locations connect to separate R/3 system, then obviously you have multiple queues. That is unique delta queue for each source system so deltas will be pulled as per data in respective queues.
