How do I find the Client ID with Airport Extreme?

Cant find the Manual Setup feature in the airport utility.

The Manual Setup feature....and a lot of other features..... were dropped when Apple went to Lion 10.7.4.
The best that you can do is open AirPort Utility and click on the AirPort Extrme icon to get some basic info. Click Edit in the box to go deeper into the application.
If you are still using Lion 10.7.4, you can install AirPort Utility 5.6 for Mac OS X Lion and keep it along with AirPort Utility 6.x on your Mac. Use the one that you want.
AirPort Utility 5.6 will not install on Mountain Lion unless you employ some unofficial workarounds.

  • How do I find the WPA for my Airport Extreme?

How do find the WPA for Airport Extreme?

    It asks for my SSID,
SSID is a fancy term for the actual name of a wireless network. So, you have two basic settings for  a wireless network:
    1) The actual Name of the network, or SSID. You set this up when you set up the AirPort Extreme.
    2) The Password of the wireless network. You also set this up when you set up the AirPort Extreme.
I know the password, but it has two capitalized letters and in the Sony set up I can't find a way to get caps, just lower case
Then it would be a good idea to change the wireless network password to all lower case letters to allow things to match up.
It is also a good idea to keep the name of the wireless network....or SSID....simple.
Use only normal letters and numbers.....with no special characters like an apostrophe, dollar sign, asterisk, etc.
Keep the wireless network name short.....no more than 20 characters with no blank spaces in the name. Mine is twndb for example.
Same general guidelines for the wireless network password, except the password must have at least 8 characters.

  • How do i find the password for my airport extreme

I have had an airport extreme for a number of years. Originaly it was set up buy the company I bought it from. However recently I have had some problems with my airport extreme and would like to upgrde the firmware, but it keeps asking for a password of which I have no knowledge of. My question is how do I get this pass word or how can I upgrade the firmware

You will need to factory reset your Extreme. More info is here:

  • How can I find the router number for airport extreme card?

I am trying (unsuccessfully) to wirelessly connect my PlayStation 3 to my iMac Duo using the built in Airport Extreme Card.
Can someone please tell me how to find the router number for the built-in Airport? I am using OSX 10.4.9. The wireless card type on my Mac info is "Airport Extreme (Ox14E4, Ox89)".
    Thanks in advance.

Since the iMac is using OS X's Internet Sharing, the iMac is acting as a router. The router IP address created by the iMac is dependent on the IP address assigned to the iMac. The first 2 numbers are the same but the last 2 are .2.1.
    For instance:
If your iMac is getting an IP address of 192.168.0.200 your Mac's router IP address will be 192.168.2.1
Similarly, if your iMac is getting an IP address of 10.0.1.200 your Mac's router IP address will be 10.0.2.1
    So
    Open Network Utility.
Click on "Info". Under "Please select a network interface for information" select "Network Interface (en0)" to see what IP address the iMac has been assigned.
Click on "Info". Under "Please select a network interface for information" select "Network Interface (en1)" to see what IP address the iMac is using as the router address on the wireless interface.

  • How/where do I find the password/passphrase on airport extreme to set up printer?

I am trying to set up my printer, and I have the Airport Extreme router. It asks for a password/pass phrase and states that it should be ont he bottom of the router. I have tried every number and letter that is on the bottom of the router and still I can't get the printer set up. It keeps stating that I have the wrong WPA password. Anyone know where I can find this WPA password?

It's the same one you use when connecting to your wireless network with a computer, and no, it's not printed anywhere on the Extreme.
If you are using a Mac that you use with that Extreme, I have a way to determine it.
If not, you will need to reconfigure your Extreme with a WPA password you remember.
Let me know which procedure you would like.

  • Does the CP1025 work with Airport Extreme?

Hi, I am unable to get my CP1025 (not CP1025nw) connected to the Airport Extreme (AE) to be able to print through the network. The AE recognizes my other printer - HP Photosmart C3188 immediately and sets up automatically. So, I am assuming my network is ok. Initially, AE was able to recognize the CP1025, but failed at the last step in Bonjour.(error 1797 you do not have sufficient access to your computer to connect to the selected printer). I then upgraded the firmware on the CP1025 and now AE does not recognize the CP1025. Bonjour says "no bonjour printers are available". I have been trying this through my laptop (win7) and desktop (xp sp2), but it's not working. Installed and uninstalled bonjour and drivers several times. Also tried to replace the setup for c3188 with cp1025 through the Printer properties/ports window. Would it help if I used the older firmware? Where can I find it? How else can I fix this? Thanks ------------ CP 1025 firmware: 20120130 CP1025 driver: 3.0 (16 Mar 2012) Bonjour for windows v2.0.2 Airport extreme version: 7.6.1

It appears that you are using Bonjour on a Windows platform to get the printer connected wirelessly.
The best way to get the Laserjet cp1025 connected is to use WPS or a USB to wireless setup.
Instructions for both can be found by clicking on Installing the Printer Software on a Wireless or Wired (Ethernet) Network.
To use USB to Wireless, you will need a Windows or Mac OS X (10.5, 10.6, or 10.7) connected to a wireless network.
Installing a USB to wireless setup printer can be very tricky and buggy using Bonjour installation.
The steps in the link are for the Laserjet cp1025 and should get you going with getting it to connect.  The Laserjet is only designed to be connected to a network with USB to wireless or the router's WPS button (if it has one).

  • Can't find the harddrive connected to AirPort Extreme from NETGEAR EVA9100

    Hey all,
Like the subject sais... I have a setup in my appartment where I have a USB Harddrive connected to my AirPort Extreme. I put my media on that disk, and now I want to access these files from my new NETGEAR EVA9100 media streamer, but for some reason it can't find the harddrive in my network.. My MBP has no problems finding it, nor have any other computers. I have tried numerous ways of sharing the disk through the airport software, but for some reason it just won't work.
Does anyone have an idea what I need to do..?

If the hard disk shows up when it is connected directly to the base station, then I would try a different powered hub.
Otherwise, the hard disk drive may not be compatible, or perhaps it is incorrectly formatted as NTFS.

  • How do I get the TC on my Airport Extreme to do wireless backups?

I just want to use the TC for wireless backup.   I've connected it to the Airport with Ethernet; unconnected the EThernet; opened Airport Utility; read the Manual; studied all these posts.  Nada.  It should be simple, I only need the TC to act like an external HD on the network.  Any suggestions??
    Twila Johnson

Let's go with simple for now and get things working.
Disconnect the Ethernet cable for now, and power down the TC by pulling the power cord
    Wait a minute
Hold in the reset button on the back of the TC and keep holding for an additional 8-10 seconds while you simultaneously plug the power cord back in to the TC  (tricky to do...because you almost need 3 hands)
Release the reset button after the hold period and allow 25-30 seconds for the TC to restart to a slow, blinking amber light
Connect the Ethernet cable from one of the LAN <-> ports on the AirPort Extreme to the WAN port (circle of dots icon) on the TC
Open AirPort Utility, select the TC, and click Manual Setup
Click the Time Capsule tab below the row of icons to assign a name to your Time Capsule, a device password (write that down) and adjust Time Zone settings.
Click the Wireless tab next to the Time Capsule tab
Change the setting for Wireless Mode to "Off"
Click the Internet icon, then click the Internet Connection tab
    Connect Using= Ethernet
Connection Sharing = Off (Bridge Mode)
Click Update and allow 25-30 seconds for the TC to restart. You should have a green light.
Power off the entire network now....all devices.....power down order is not important
    Wait a minute
Start the modem first and let it run a minute by itself
Start the AirPort Extreme the same way
Start the TC the same way
Start other devices one at a time the same way
    You should be all set

  • How can I change the country in my Airport Extreme wireless settings

I bought my Airport Extreme in the US.  I live in the UK.
How can I change the wireless settings to show the UK (or Europe) as one of the available countries?  At the moment it lists only countries in the Americas (Canada, US, Argentina etc...)

    Others may know better!
    Regards,
    Shawn
This is exactly correct.. You can set the Time Zone to anywhere in the world but the wireless is regionalised.. it is part of the sales approach that you should buy the product in the market where it will be used.. the following are the regions.
    From the md0a file.
FCC JAPAN ETSI APAC ROW FCC-DFS KOREA RUSSIA
You cannot alter this nor do Apple offer this service.. although I am pretty sure they will have a backdoor.
I have altered it for interest sake by soldering in a console port.. stop the bootloader and the following commands.
    K30A>var
    apple-sku=ETSI
    apple-sn=6F94sxxssxxss
    ethaddr=00:2xxxssxxb
    K30A>
    K30A>setvar apple-sku=APAC
    K30A>
    K30A>var
    apple-sku=APAC
    apple-sn=6F94sssxxxx
    ethaddr=00:2sxxxssxxss
If you want the pin out to the serial port.. well I can even give you those. At least for a TC.. I am not in any way recommending this.. just showing you where it is hidden.
And this so far would only work on a Gen 4 or Gen 5 AE.. I haven't figured it out on Gen 1-3 nor of course am I about to try soldering in wireless to a Gen6 AE or Gen5 TC.. doubtless it will come to that at some point.

  • How do I reduce the MTU on my Airport Extreme Ethernet connection?

    Hi there,
Is it possible to reduce the MTU on the Ethernet connection inside the Airport Extreme Base station. I was having trouble accessing some websites, but was able to fix it on a direct ethernet connection by reducting the MTU setting to below 1500. However, when I connect wirelessly ( I have a DSL modem connected to the WAN port of an Airport Extreme Base station), I still have the same problem, but there seems to be nowhere in the Admin utility where I can reduce the MTU for the connection.
Anyone know a work around for this?
    Thanks
    Martin
iMac G5   Mac OS X (10.4.3)   Airport Extreme

Don't know if this will help, but if you use cocktail there is a place under "Network" where you can change the mtu setting for the machine you are using. I also remember seeing some info on this in the unix support group here in the forums.
