How do I find the location of a bookmark.

Sometimes they get moved somehow. If I search for the name I have given the bookmark, it comes up, but doesnt tell me WHERE it is filed, in my many bookmark folders, so I can move it back where it belongs. This can happen to an entire folder, and can take FOREVER to find where it has been moved to. When it comes up in a bookmark search, clicking on its' properties also does not show where the bookmark is LOCATED.

There may be extensions that can help, and bookmarks should not move of their own volition, but the easiest way to find a bookmarks location is probably to open that bookmark. If you then click on the star it will give you the edit options, that shows which folder it is in, and allows you to easily move it if you would prefer it to be elsewhere.

I have not tried this add-on myself, https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/sortplaces/ and you will probably find quite a few other add-ons relating to bookmark use.

  • In Mountain Lion, how do I find the location of an open Preview File?  The file "properties" tab is no longer available.

    I typically have several open Preview files at any one time and often forget where, sometimes if, I saved them.  In Mountain Lion, how do I find the location of an open Preview File?  Tried holding option + command in spotlight but I don't see a path name appear anywhere.

    Yes, cmd-option on a file you choose in Spotlight and the path will appear at the bottom of the Preview window.
    EDIT: Also, if it is bookmarked the path is in Bookmarks.

  • How can I find the location of an app on my iPad 2?

    How can I find the location of an app on my iPad 2? The app comes up with a search, but that seems to be the only way to find it. I just installed the app today, but I can't figure out where it is. It has a pretty distinctive icon, and I've looked through all of my apps and even in folders (even though I don't know how it would have gotten there). I want to put it in an appropriate folder under the right subject, but I can't find it to do this. I can use the app, since I can find it through a search though. I have a lot of apps, but I looked very carefully and can't find it. Is there a way to ask my iPad to locate it for me? It's a $25 app and one I plan to use regularly, so I want it located in the folder of my choice.This problem makes we wonder if I have other "missing" apps, apps that I could  find if I happened to think to search for them, but that don't appear to be on my iPad (even though they actually  are).

    You were right about the homescreens. I had turned my iPad off for the night with less than three full homescreens of loose apps, those not in folders. When I turned the iPad on this morning to try your suggestions, I had five full pages of loose apps. They just appeared when I restarted, and there was the app I was looking for, easy to find. Last night I was deleting apps I decided I wouldn't use, organizing useful apps into folders, and making sure I had as few pages as needed by making sure the gaps made by the moved/deleted apps were closed. The missing apps didn't show up at that point; I was just left with fewer than 11 pages. The apps only showed up when I restarted this morning. There were almost three extra pages of apps that weren't there last night. I know there must be other things missing, since all of the pages are full. So I tried your suggestion in iTunes. I connected my iPad, found an app in the alphabetical list on the left, and double clicked it. This brought me to the app's homescreen (and its home folder when applicable), the place where it was located. In order to identify which page that was, I had to scroll through the screen shots of the homescreens that was below the homescreen that was showing until I found the homescreen whose number was in white. Then I could count the pages on my iPad until I got to that page. I'll have to delete more apps and organize more into folders to see what else might show up. There are just too many apps available for special education, and I'm in the process of figuring out which are the best for my needs. Thanks so much!

    How can I find the location of the signature used in the Adobe Reader signature feature? I've been using the signature feature for a while now and it works great and I'd like to use it on another computer. However, I forgot where I stored the signature. Adobe finds it with no problems (the signature pops up when I click "Place Signature"), but I have no idea where it is.

    Also if i cant locate them can i at least remotely delete the libraries, and lock them so they are unusable to the thiefs, and i had a sony laptop worth £2000 stolen which I had used my apple account for a year is there anyway i can track that or retrieve the contents and delete them?
    Please if anybody knows reply or contact me!!!! =-)
    many thanks

    You or Apple can do nothing to prevent use of the devices.
    For the iPod touch if you turned on the FindMyiPod feature and wifi is on and connected yu may be ablt ot locate it and wipe it by going to iCloud, signing in and going to FindMyiPhone. However, if the iPOd is rectored that feature is deleted.

    There is no way to track a missing or stolen iPod Nano or Shuffle.  You can track the iPod Touch if you had previously enabled the FindmyiPhone feature before it was lost. However, this feature also depends on the iPod to be connected to a working Wi-Fi network and not have already been restored by the thief.
    Apple can do nothing to help. Sorry.

  • How can i find the location of my ipod by serial number

    how can i find the location of my ipod by serial number. Someone stole my ipod touch and I cant find it. I have the serial number.

    No, the SN will only help identify the iPod as yours IF it is recovered
    - If you previously turned on FIndMyiPod on the iPod in Settings>iCloud and wifi is on and connected go to iCloud: Find My iPhone, sign in and go to FIndMyiPhone. If the iPod has been restored it will never show up.
    iCloud: Find My iPhone
    - You can also wipe/erase the iPod and have the iPod play a sound via iCloud.

    - You can also wipe/erase the iPod and have the iPod play a sound via iCloud.
    - If not shown, then you will have to use the old fashioned way, like if you lost a wallet or purse.
    - Change the passwords for all accounts used on the iPod and report to police
    - There is no way to prevent someone from restoring the iPod (it erases it) using it unless you had iOS 7 on the device. With iOS 7, one has to enter the Apple ID and password to restore the device.

    I've lost my iPod Touch but i didn't achive the mobile.me. How can I find the location? It's a 4th generation iPod but I didn't sync the mobile.me in my iPod. I've lost it in a cab in Brazil, in the city of Curitiba, if some brazillian can help me..I would really appreciate!
    I don't now how to do..I have all my trip photos and also some stuff from work.
    I would be really really happy to know the location or to know something that I cand do to get it back! Thanks.

    By looking for it.  If you have activated FaceTime or some other app that will make a sound when you activate the app (Call with FaceTime or Skype) that will help.  Otherwise ther is nothing special you can do.  Change the passwords for all accounts used on the iPod and report it to the police in case someone turns it in.

  • How do I find the location of a message found in a mail search?

    Can find emails, brand new or a couple of years old.  Have no idea how to out find where they are.
    There is no "Get Info." command to tell me how to locate the message(s).  Either in the mailboxes on my current "Mail 6.3" or, on a "Previous System" migrated over to my new MINI.
    It's logical this should not be hard for me to find.  Oh well.  Must be the old mans mail-pattern-blindness!
    Anybody know the answer?

    ... and if you command click on a search result it will be shown in the Finder.

  • TS4006 Your iPod's last reported location will be available for 24 hours. how do i find the location?

    I received an email telling me that my ipods last reported location will be available for 24 hours.  How do i ge this informaiton?

    It's not likely to re-connect to a network lying on the ground somewhere and getting rained on, it would be really great if I could see that map again so I could use it's last known location to find it.  Kind of pointless to have a 24 hr killswitch deadline.  If I had known I would have taken a screen-shot while I still had access to the information.  Since I lost the phone at Canada's Wonderland (which is now closed for the season) I don't have access to the location where I lost the phone (under a roller-coaster probably), and so I wanted to send the Lost And Found people a screen-shot of it's last known location, but I guess I can't do that now.  (Apple are big jerks)

  • How do i find the location of Oracle password file in the HDD

    we giv the location of the password file while we use the orapwd command to create one.
    later if we forget the location of the password file (incase it is not at the default location) then is there a way to find it or do we just create a new password file?
    secondly, for oracle to use the password file we giv the remote_login_passwordfile='EXCLUSIVE' in the parameter file. wat tells oracle the location of the exact password file??
    Thanks

    The default location are OS dependant.
    On Unix/Linus it is under $ORACLE_HOME/dbs
    On Windows, it is under %ORACLE_HOME%/database
    To change the default location, nothing inside database, but :
    On Unix/Linux, you have to create a symbolic link for that file to the target location
    On Windows, you have to change env variable (regedit) ORA_PWFILE and ORA_SID_PWFILE
    So, you have to check this setting for the real password file location.

  • How do you find the location of printer drivers?

    First this may be in the wrong forum so if so can the moderator please move it to where it should be.
    I have a driver installed on my computer for an older large format printer that is no longer supported by the manufacturer and has not been for several years. I had downloaded and installed a driver that had been modified to work in Windows 7-64 bit and
    have used it for several years without a problem. I have sold the printer but cannot find where I downloaded the driver from and every driver I have tried on the other persons computer always says the driver we are trying to load is not compatible with a
    64 bit system or something to that effect.
    I don't understand as when I download a driver such as this I always save it in a directory with the name and model number of what it is for but do not have it saved there, but not sure why as that is out of the ordinary.
    On my own computer if I go to add printer and then select the manufacturer name the specific model is shown in the window on the right so assumed it was a driver that came with Windows 7 which would also explain why it is not in a separate folder where I
    would generally save it when I downloaded it and before installation.
    Now I have setup the printer at the person's place that is buying it and when I went to add printer and selected the manufacturer's name that model was not in the list or printers so when I returned home I again brought it up on my computer and rather than
    the driver being in alpha/numeric order in the models listed it was at the end of the list and there were several different models listed in that particular product line so it would seem obvious it was a driver installed after the fact and not one that was
    included with Windows 7.
    So after a long winded explanation, much of which was probably not necessary, can someone please tell me where I can actually find the drivers that are installed for a specific printer, or better yet the compete list that was added to the list where one
    can select your printer model when "adding" a new printer?
    Thank you

    Hi Jack,
    If this printer works on your computer, you could try exporting the driver from your computer, To install the printer driver from the machine, Open the registry and found this printer listed in the following registry key:
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Print\Environments\Windows x64\Drivers\Version-3\
    From there if you select the printer key you will see a string value for InfPath
    It should give you a path to C:\Windows\System32\DriverStore\FileRepository\xxx and the corresponding folder the cached driver is in.

  • How do I find the directory where my bookmarks are kept using windows explorer?

    Neither firefox nor internet explorer work anymore on my administrator account, but internet explorer works on my guest account. Perhaps a virus caused this. But windows explorer works fine. Computer is so fouled up I want to just buy a new one, better and cheaper than fixing the old one.

  • How do I find the location of an authorized Apple service provider?

    My battery on my iPhone 4S has died and I have not been able to resurrect it. I think that I need to replace it but I have been unable to find where authorized apple dealers are located that could do the replacement. Is there a list located somewhere where this information can be found. The nearest Apple Store is over 4 hours away.
    Thanks for any help!

    you have to keep track of the x,y coords yourself. The reason for this is, in a Graphics context, you can draw the same image more than once. Graphics has no way of tracking the x,y values of the images you draw. It's pxiel-based, not object based :P
    You can write a wrapper that keeps its own x,y values if you need to.
    On another note, since all you're doing with the ImagIcon is drawing it, why not just use an Image or BufferedImage? With this in mind, you can create a class that holds an image and some x,y values. For example:
    public class ImageWrapper {
         BufferedImage image;
         Point pos;
         public ImageWrapper(int x,int y,BufferedImage image) {
              this(new Point(x,y),image);
         public ImageWrapper(Point pos,BufferedImage image) {
              this.pos = new Point(pos);
              this.image = image;
         public Point getPos() {
              return pos;
         public int getX() {
              return pos.x;
         public int getY() {
              return pos.y;
         public void draw(Graphics g) {
              g.drawImage(image,pos.x,pos.y,null);
    }and to use it, you could do something like:
    ImageWrapper img = new ImageWrapper(10,10,ImageIO.read(getClass().getResource("/image.png")));
    public void paint(Graphics g) {
         img.draw(g);
    }something like that would work
