How do i find the machine ID number on my computer?

how do i find the machine ID number on my computer?

That's the serial number, but not the model/machine ID. The latter looks like this:
Model Identifier
MacBook7,1
It is not displayed in About This Mac. You need to use the System Profiler.

I want to register my iLife '11 but I can't find the Marketing Part Number as I only have the disk.  How can I find this number so I can reqister my copy?
    Thanks

You don't need to register iLife.  Registeing iLife would get your just emails from Apple regarding their products.  It's not needed.  Anyway, the iLife 11 boxed disc is now a discontinued and unsupported product.

There isn't any correspondence. I seem to recall that Amazon added that feature to the Kindle app but I haven't checked lately.

Briefly, if you interchange a bitmap format such as TIFF or JPEG, an ICC MNTR Monitor profile will be embedded by the application exporting the bitmap. The application opening the bitmap will use that ICC MNTR Monitor profile to construct a ColorWorld that matches to the colour space of the digital graphic device used for instantiating / imaging / rendering / consuming that bitmap, most often the ICC MNTR Monitor profile for the current condition of the colour display.
If you interchange a page description such as PDF, then the same thing happens except that a page description is object-oriented and each object in the page description can be in its own colour model and in its own colour management model. PDF is a modification of PostScript languag level 2 which means that it supports deviceColour and calibratedColour (PostScript's own obsolete colour management system). PDF 1.3 and higher supports ICCBased colour.
So, the ICC MNTR Monitor profile embedded in your TIFF or JPEG, or embedded as ICCBased in your PDF, defines the COLOURS that the COLOURANTS in you object should form on other colour devices when the importing application creates a ColourWorld, whether using its own ICC API or an operating system ICC API. There is no such thing as deviceColour any more, that is, colourant combinations do not define colours. You need either a CIELa*b D50 2 degree standard observer measurement or you need an ICC device profile (preferably linearised MNTR Monitor with data sapce RGB) or non-device profile (NMCL Named Color, SPAC Colour Space or ABST Abstract).
Similarly, I am not sending you glyphs in this post. I am sending you characters in this post. You system will show you the glyphs by looking for an SFNT Spline Font file whose CMAP Character Map can image the characters I am sending you. And if I send you characters not in the CMAP Character Map of one SFNT, the system will search its database of SFNT's for one which has a CMAP that will draw a default glyph design for that incoming character code.
Neither the drawing model for ICC imaging nor the drawing model for Unicode imaging works in any way as you assume -:).

  • I want to sell my MacBook Pro-How do I find the exact model number?

    It's late 2011 i7 15 inch and the specs I pull up show 2.4GHz MacBook Pro (MD322LL/A)
Except that i'ts when I click About this Mac it shows:
Processor  2.5 GHz Intel Core i7
    Memory  4 GB 1333 MHz DDR3
Graphics  Intel HD Graphics 3000 384 MB
    Serial Number  C0**********W47
    Software  OS X 10.9.1 (13B42)
    It also gives this info:
    Processor and memory
2.2GHz or 2.4GHz quad-core Intel Core i7 processor with 6MB shared L3 cache; or optional 2.5GHz quad-core Intel Core i7 processor with 8MB shared L3 cache and I know it's this and 750 GB SATA Disk
    4GB (two 2GB SO-DIMMs) of 1333MHz DDR3 memory; two SO-DIMM slots support up to 8GB
Basically, I'm wanting to sell it because I just don't need such an expensive Mac and I hardly ever use it. I bought it new in September 2012 and it's in mint condition. Since it was a model year behind, I only paid $1899.
I have the box but I'm out of town so I was just hoping to figure out what I want to do. I still have the original receipt, it has Office University (or whatever it's called) and a Magic Mouse.
Any ideas of where/how I should sell it? I usually use Craig's list but I don't think that's a great idea for this item. Also, how much do you Apple experts think I should ask? I'm addicted to my iPad 2 but it's on iOS 5 still because it's, well, you know...I like to configure my displays and icons and be able to free memory, etc. so I mainly use it. Thanks for any help! Much appreciated!

    <Personal Information Edited by Host>

    Carrie,
the information that is provided by About This Mac is accurate. What you have is a CTO (“Configure To Order”) variant of the MD322LL/A; thus, referring to it simply as a “MD322LL/A” does not uniquely identify it. I would recommend describing it as a “2.5 GHz 15-inch Late 2011 MacBook Pro with 4 GB of RAM and 750 GB HDD”, so that the buyer knows exactly what you’re offering. Make sure that the box, the other original accessories that came in the box, and the original receipt are included with the MacBook Pro; picky buyers (like me ) appreciate receiving all of those constituent components.
Note, however, that according to the Mavericks software license agreement, that because its installed version of Mavericks was originally downloaded from the Mac App Store, its copy of Mavericks is non-transferable; you will need to erase Mavericks and its recovery partition from the MacBook Pro’s internal disk before selling it. It would save the buyer some time if you would also perform an OS X Internet Recovery to restore its original Lion onto its internal disk before the sale.
To get an idea of what you should ask for it, take a look at online auction sites to see what other 15-inch Late 2011 MacBook Pros are selling for. You are likely to find more 2.2 GHz and 2.4 GHz models than 2.5 GHz models like yours, so you could add a premium of some amount to whatever the more common models are going for. If you live in an urban area, Craigslist could be used to sell it, as long as you and the buyer can agree on acceptable payment terms; finding a willing buyer might be more difficult if you live in a rural area.

  • How do I find the total time (number of hours) my computer has been used?

I am not looking for battery cycles or idle time but time in actual use. I'm curious for a number of reasons. Anyone have any idea how to figure this out?
    Thanks!

I do not know of any other place that records operating times of the MBP.  Look for third party applications.
    Ciao.

  • How do I find the SMTP server number in my MB Pro mail program?

For some unknown reason my mail program is just now asking for a password when I attempt to send an email. I verified the password with my ISP. When I go to the Mail program/Preferences/Accounts I see a screen that has three sections. The third section offers "Outgoing mail server (SMTP)" but offers no box allowing a server number such as 587... Why is that option missing? What is likely causing this sudden request for a password?
    Thanks,
    Jim

I did that and and chose "Use custom port" and entered 587. Still is asking for a PW but when entered it tells me that the server will not accept the password thus will not sent the email. I can send and receive using my PC.
I also can receive emails on the Mac.. So, something else is "set" incorrectly.. ????

  • How do I find the copied itunes library on my computer?

I'm trying to transfer my itunes library to an exteral hard drive, I followed the instructions on this page and I think I copied my library but not only do I not understand how to actually transfer it to my external hard drive but now I think I have two copies of my library on my computer and want to find it so I don't use up any more space. The instructions said I should delete the original but I don't want to delete anything until I know which is the original. Help!

The instructions I followed was from Old Article: 307074 on the Apple Support under the subject "Back up your iTunes library by copying to an external hard drive", the question is now that I copied the library where do I find it and if I'm to delete the original as it says to where is that and how do I avoid deleting everything. And another thing, the graphic at the bottom where it says you simple drag your library to your external hard drive is not what I'm getting.
