How do I find the model number of a MacBook
A friend of mine has a MacBook that won't start up. How do I find the model number of her MacBook? A number like MBXXXLL/A or MAXXXLL/A.
HI,
Do you meant he serial number? If so, click the Apple Menu then click: About This Mac. You will see Mac O S X. Under that click where you see: Version 10.x.x, then click one more time to see the serial number.
You can also view this information by launching the System Profiler (Applications/Utilties)
On the left under Contents select Hardware. The serial number will be displayed on the right.
Just out of curiosity, how is knowing the serial number going to help trouble shoot this MacBook ??

How do I find the model number on my keyboard?
How do I find the model number on my keyboard? I have an anodised aluminium (short with no numeric pad on it) keyboard that came with my iMac that I bought in 2009, and I am wanting to find out what model it is.
Any suggestions?
Thanks. Many of the Apple keyboards have the model number on the underside, often in very tiny grey print that is really, really hard to read
You can also go to the Apple symbol in the top left corner of your screen, drop down to About this Mac, then click more Info and navigate to the the hardware information about the interfacing equipment.
If you have your original order information from purchase, it may list each item you received with model/part number.

how do i find the model number on my macbook?
Click the Apple at the top left and select More Info or System Report depending n which version of OS X you're running. Select and copy the serial number and paste it here http://www.everymac.com/ultimate-mac-lookup/ and you'll find complete specs for your MacBook.

How do I find the model number and year built?
How do I find the model number of my iMac and what year it was built?
Depending on the version of Mac OS X: click the apple left side of the menu bar, About This Mac, More Info some versions skip this, System Report, Hardware, and then see what it shows for the Model Identifier - that will say Model IdentifieriMac with a number such as 8,1 or something of that form.
You can use that to find out the details about the machine by going to http://www.everymac.com and go to the iMacs and then some quick checks on the years to find the match for your Model Identifier. -
How do I find the model number to my 15" Mac Book Pro?
I have a 15" Mac Book Pro (the one with the keyboard that matches the outer uni-body and track-pad). I am having difficulty in finding the actual model number that is associated with this machine ( as it is second hand). I found the serial number and all the other essential specifications to wit I would have interest for scheduled up-keep. The model number, however, escapes me? Could someone shed some light on this? Apologies in advance for appearing thick headed on the matter. I'm sure it is right in front of me.
SYSTEM PROFILER>HARDWARE>HARDWARE OVERVIEW>MODEL IDENTITFIER. Click on the Apple icon in the upper left hand corner, then 'About this Mac' and then 'More I\nfo...'

How to find the Model size in Semantics
Hi All,
Please can you tell me how to find the model size in Semantics.
Thanks,
InduHi,
Instead of looking up the ID for the Entailment in DB_VIEWS you can better use MDSYS.SEM_NETWORK_INDEX_INFO
For example:
select name, type, id from MDSYS.SEM_NETWORK_INDEX_INFO;
NAME TYPE ID
MYMODEL MODEL 60
MYMODEL_INF ENTAILMENT 69
*** Space about the B-tree indexes on models and entailments ***
Indexes created in RDF_LINK$ for a specific model:
SQL> select name, type, id, index_name from MDSYS.SEM_NETWORK_INDEX_INFO;
NAME TYPE ID INDEX_NAME
MYMODEL MODEL 60 RDF_LNK_PCSGM_IDX
FAMILY100 MODEL 59 RDF_LNK_PSCGM_IDX
FAMILY100 MODEL 59 RDF_LNK_PCSGM_IDX
FAMILY2 MODEL 56 RDF_LNK_PCSGM_IDX
FAMILY2 MODEL 56 RDF_LNK_PSCGM_IDX
FAMILY MODEL 57 RDF_LNK_PCSGM_IDX
FAMILY MODEL 57 RDF_LNK_PSCGM_IDX
OTHERMODEL MODEL 58 RDF_LNK_PSCGM_IDX
OTHERMODEL MODEL 58 RDF_LNK_PCSGM_IDX
0 NETWORK 0 RDF_LNK_PCSGM_IDX
0 NETWORK 0 RDF_LNK_PSCGM_IDX
MYMODEL_INF ENTAILMENT 69 RDF_LNK_PCSGM_IDX
MYMODEL_INF ENTAILMENT 69 RDF_LNK_PSCGM_IDX
Then get the size from DBA_SEGMENTS
select bytes/1024/1024 MB, partition_name from dba_segments where segment_name in ('RDF_LNK_PSCGM_IDX','RDF_LNK_PCSGM_IDX');
Specifically for our model 60 and Entailment 69:
select bytes/1024/1024 MB, partition_name from dba_segments where segment_name in ('RDF_LNK_PSCGM_IDX','RDF_LNK_PCSGM_IDX') and partition_name in ('MODEL_60','MODEL_69');
MB PARTITION_NAME
192 MODEL_60
192 MODEL_60
60.0625 MODEL_69
62.375 MODEL_69
You would add them all for the size of the indexes -
How do i find the IP address of my printer?
I have an HP 7130 all-in-one printer connected to a windows computer that is connected to a wireless router and modem. im using my macbook, which is also wireless to the same modem, and i am trying to set up a printer which requires the IP address of the printer it cannot find on its own. How do i find the IP address of the printer?
Thanks!Hi Gavin,
Actually it was a typo fault on my behalf. Unfortunately the 7130 will not have an IP address as it doesn't have an Ethernet connection - just USB.
So, you are either going to have to connect the printer to the Windows computer and print from the Mac via the share or get some other hardware to share the printer. There are a number of wireless print servers on the market which allow you to connect your printer to its USB socket and then print wirelessly from your Windows and Mac computers. Or you could look at replacing the router with an Airport Extreme, which has a USB port for a printer.
If you want use what you have then connect the printer to the Windows computer and share it. Then on your Mac, open the Printer Setup Utility and click Add. Click More Printers and then Windows Printing > Network Neighborhood. You should see the Workgroup name set in the Windows computer appear. If it doesn't then wait several minutes and try again (sometimes it can take a while before Windows computers appear in this list). Once the workgroup name appears double click it and select the computer from the new menu. At this stage you may be prompted for a user name and password for the Windows computer. Input this information and then the printer share should appear. Select it and then browse for your printer model. Now there is a good chance that your model is not listed under the HP menu so you will have to use one of the provided drivers in the list and see which one works best for your printer. Once you have selected an appropriate model click Add. Now you should be able to print via wireless..

Is this info missing because I am running OEL in a virtual machine ?Oracle Linux behaves exactly like Red Hat in this matter an /proc/cpuinfo can be used for that. I guess this is because you have set up VirtualBox to only assign one virtual CPU to your guest Linux.

How can i find the year/specs of a laptop?
I am planning on purchasing a macbook from a local shop and they say it is slightly used but are giving it to me for a substantially low price. They said they will allow me to check it out and see if i want to buy it or not. How can i find the year of purchase and specs of the laptop quickly and through simple use at the store to decided if i want to make the purchase? also, how can i judge if a mac is fully functioning in a short period of time? sorry for my lack of knowledge as i have only ever owned a pc
When examining the laptop, boot it up, click the Apple menu, and click "About This Mac." It will tell you the CPU and RAM. Click the More Info button for the full System Information listing of all hardware and software.
The System Information Hardware Overview section will list the exact model like this:
Model Name: MacBook Pro
Model Identifier: MacBookPro8,2
You can look up the Model Identifier to determine the year of release and more specs. I have the MacTracker app on my iPhone which has a complete database of all Macs ever made, so I look it up there.
On the desktop, if you select the hard disk icon and choose Get Info you will get a readout of the disk capacity and how much is used/free.
It's hard to know if a Mac has a hidden problem, after only a few minutes of examination. You will have to wing it or ask for some kind of warranty. -
MVC: Where to find the model and the table select in standard BSP apps?
Hello!
We are going to use MSS with the appraisal-application
which is written in BSP and 'e-recruiting'. Both applications use the MVC-design pattern. We are going to do some modifications, but are struggling a bit since MVC is a new topic for us. How is the best way to get an overview of the controllers and views and call sequences in an existing application? We have done this by debugging, but are there other ways to find the 'starting controller', etc. ?
Where can we find the model-code which reads the table-values into the internal table?
We have read a lot about how nice MVC is - how the design gives you a better overview of the application. But without any docuemtation of the design we are quite lost. What are others experiences on this?
regards TineHi Tine,
let's see if I can answer your questions (at least partially).
The main controller is the one you normally call directly in your browser (or after some introduction pages like login etc.). It's typically called start.do or main.do (but can differ). So if you call in the browser:
http://myhost.domain:4711/sap/bc/bsp/sap/myappl/start.do,
just call se80, choose the application myappl and double-click on start.do. There you can get the name of the controller class (just double-click on the class name).
The standard model class is called CL_BSP_MODEL. The model classes from the application inherit from this class.
For a complete documentation please have a look at the online docu:
http://aiokeh.wdf.sap.corp:1080/SAPIKS2/contentShow.sap?_SCLASS=IWB_STRUCT&_SLOIO=EDBB153AAB4A0C0EE10000000A114084&TMP_IWB_TASK=PREVIEW2&RELEASE=640&LANGUAGE=DE&_SEQNUM=106&_LOIO=0FAB3A3C9CA75402E10000000A114084&_CLASS=IWB_EXTHLP
There are also some weblogs written by Craig Cmehil where you can get examples.
Hoping this helps a little bit.

How do i find the iemi number of my lost iPhone?
If you ever used iTunes to back the phone up to a computer, the following instructions from Find the serial number and other information for your iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch - Apple Support may help:
If you can use iTunes on your computer but don't have your device:
Go to iTunes > Preferences (Mac) or Edit > Preferences (PC).
Click the Devices tab.
Hold your mouse over a backup to display the serial number for that device. You'll also see the IMEI/MEID and CDN for your iPhone or iPad (cellular model).
