How do I find the start day of each month
Hi all,
Hope someone can give a a hand here I've to do a calender project for college and I'm not allowed to use any built in Java classes so fun all the way so far :-)
I've got one question that is bugging me at the moment. and that is how to find the start day for each month in a year and store them in an array.
I'm starting my week at Monday (0) and stopping at Sunday (6) and I do have a formula for discovering the first day in Jan of the given year its
((y-1900)*365 + (y-1901)/4)%7
I was just wondering how I could amend this to find the first day in Feb, March etc.
Any suggestions greatly accepted.
Thanks in advance.

newark maybe I didnt make clear exactly what I want to do.
I have each day of the week starting at 0 for Monday up to 6 for Sunday I want to map what the start day of a month as a number between 0 and 6.
The formula I have discovering the first day of Jan of a given year will give you 1 i.e. Tuesday
what I need to do is find out what number between 0 and 6 the start day of each other month of a given year is.
For example the 1st of Feb is a Friday which is 4 on the weekday map.
Your suggestion of 31%7 won't work for this, sorry more than likely my fault for not being clearer in what my requirements were.
Cheers for the help so far and yep your right not being able to use the built in classes is a pain :-)
Edited by: Irish-Student on 03-Mar-2008 20:01This doesn't really change much of my first suggestion. If you can already calculate the first day of the month of January for any given year, then there's no problem figuring out the other months. Say I want to know the first day April 1, 1978. You already know how to find January 1, 1978. So find that. Then find the number of days between January 1 and April 1 (remember to account for leap years). Once you have the number of days, you can figure out how many weeks and days that is, and thus what day of the week it is.

Define event to repeat on the last day of each month?
(I've searched the forum and can't find this question addressed)
I want to create a repeating event for the last day of each month. Is this possible?Unfortunately Apple does not have an option available that allows you to add an event repeating on the last day of the month. An "OK" way around this would be to repeat on the 1st of every month and send a reminder a day earlier. I know this is less then perfect but the only option currently available. If you happen to find a 3rd party program that allows such integration please don't hesitate to mention it here as I have been looking for this sort of option for quite some time now!

How can I find the last day of the current month
Is it possible to get the last day of the month in reports. Suppose I enter JUL in one of the text field. Now in reports I want to show that JUL contains 31 days. How can I retrieve the last day of the month.
Any ideas?The first (and fast) solution I think is this:
There is a function MONTH(CURRENT_DATE) that returns the number of the month of the current date.
Now, you could use CASE WHEN expressions to determine the number of days returned since you now how many days does every month have.
For instance, you could do:
CASE
WHEN MONTH(CURRENT_DATE)=1 THEN 31
WHEN MONTH(CURRENT_DATE)=2 THEN 28
WHEN MONTH(CURRENT_DATE)=3 THEN 31
WHEN MONTH(CURRENT_DATE)=4 THEN 30
END
PD. This is faster that use OR expressions like 1 or 3 or 5 because you dont have to try every option.
Hope it helps...but maybe there is another way more automatic.

What do you do in a query in order to find the 1st day of last month ?
i use a
select trunc(trunc(sysdate,'mon')-1,'mon') from dual;
what about you guys ?Hi,
Of all the solutions, I like yours
add_months(trunc(sysdate,'mm'),-1)or doing the operations in the opposite order, like Sentinel did
trunc(add_months(sysdate,-1),'mm')best, mainly because:
(1) it's easy to read and understand
(2) it's easy to modify (in case you want the first day from three months ago, or six months in the future)
By the way, after you post something on this forum, if you see that you've made a mistake, you can correct it. Click on the second icon to the left of "Reply". (What is that: a hand holding a pencil?) You don't need to post a second message. -

Help in finding the total count for each month
Hello everyone,
Sometime back I had posted about the date function. I have that problem solved now my problem is that after finding all records which against each record I need to find the total count for that month if no records than I have to set it to a 0.
Here is how my program has been written.
PROCEDURE extract_materials
IS
CURSOR xyz
BEGIN
FOR xyz1 IN xyz LOOP
-- once inside the loop for each of the record from
the cursor I need to find a total count for that record for everymonth in the year.
All these records will be instered in to a staging table
Can you please help me out with this. I really appreciate this.
Thanks in advance.
-VaniAndrew - you missed the tricky bit of the spec - include missing months with a zero.
You need to do an outer join to a select from any big table with a function involving rownum and add_months to generate all the possible months. However, its time to go home and I can't be bothered to work out the finer details. -

How can I find the local maximum in each interval from a graph?
I have very less experience in labview and need some helps. I am currently using Labview 2013.
I am analysing a very big data file. I want to find the values of the local maximum (the peak) in every 1000 data points. Is there anyway to do it?
I also want to have a control on when to start finding the local maximum point (after 10000 data points) and when to end it ( at 30000 data points)
The attachment is a very similar graph of what I am analysing.
Thank you very much.

A06-1-11_1.xlsx 642 KBHi John,
save that Excel spreadsheet as CSV file (form Excel).
The use ReadFromSpreadsheetFile to load the data into LabVIEW. Now you get an array of data and you can do anything with it.
- You might use a loop to pick an ArraySubset of each 1000 datapoints and analyze it.
- You might use numeric controls to provide an input for the user...
Where's your problem? It seems you already know where the goal is...
And try to THINK DATAFLOW! You don't want to analyze data from a graph, you want to analyze spreadsheet data. A graph is just a data sink (in LabVIEW)...

How to create appointment occurs last day of each month
Hi Preston,
I am trying to create a monthly recurring appointment occurs on last day of every month in .Net. E.g. start at May 31, 2010 end at May 31 2011 every month.
I specified the frequency as monthly, byMonthDay[0] = (sbyte)31. But this only generates the instances on those months contain the 31th day. My question is how to also create instances on 30th day for those months don't contain the 31th day.
Thanks,
JohnThe recurrence rule logic is patterned after the recurrence
logic in iCalendar (http://www.ietf.org/rfc/rfc2445.txt)
If you have questions, first look there. Then look at the
schema itself.
In the schema the definition of DayOfMonth will handle
negative numbers:
<xs:simpleType name="DayOfMonth">
<xs:restriction base="xs:byte">
<xs:minInclusive value="-31"/>
<xs:maxInclusive value="31"/>
</xs:restriction>
</xs:simpleType>
<xs:complexType name="DayOfMonthList">
<xs:sequence>
<xs:element name="day" type="tns:DayOfMonth" minOccurs="0"
maxOccurs="unbounded"/>
</xs:sequence>
</xs:complexType>
So, the last day of the month would be -1. The second
to last day would be -2 and so on.

Creating new report 1st day of each month
Hello, all!
I have a vi that I run to record pressure on test units. I want to create a new excel report on the 1st day of each month. If it is not the 1st day of the month I want to just add the data for each test unit as a new worksheet. I have looked around and can't find a post for what I need to do exactly. If anyone can help, greatly appreciate.Hey END82,
I agree with RTSLVU's suggestion of using the Seconds to Date/Time vi. From there you can wire the day of the month into a case structure, and have the case for day number 1 to be where you create a new excel report and have the other default case add the data to the report.
I attached a VI Snippet which you can drag onto a block diagram to look at.
Hope this helps!

Where can I find the Start up disk and how can I delete file from it.
where can I find the Start up disk on theMac Book Air?
How can I delete files from it?The startup disk is the internal SSD in your MBA. You may delete files by draging the file to Trash (or clicking on them and then execute COMMAND+Delete). Then empty Trash.

I am trying to find out if I can change a setting of the calendar in my iPhone.
When I view calendar, in month, I would like to view it with the starting day of the week being Monday, not Sunday. Is it possible to make this change?Hello SMEvans32
You can use iCloud to share the Calendar, that way she will always be up to date on that particular section of your work calendar. If you want to use iCloud, I would recommend backing up so you have a safe copy of your data.
