How Do I fit Slides to music

I am making several slideshows with about 1000 pics that i have and i want to know if there is an easy way to adjust the length of each slide automatically so that it fits whatever song i choose. I have used other programs and they have that feature but i cant find it in imovie. Also is there a way to select random transitions for all the slides in a slideshow?
Thanks for your help!!

a 1000pics...? pheww ... 1pic, 5secs = 2h slideshow ... my audience would kill me..
you're options are
calculate 'manually' before editing, 1h video = 30.000 frames = 30frames/1sec per pic...
or...
use iPhoto; 'fit slideshow to music' is an option in the prefs (you have to edit the music to one solid track before usage in iPhoto)
or...
use any 3rd party pic'animator', as PhotoMagico, Photo2Movie ...
just a word about 'automatically':
watching for 2h a 'show', where precisely every 28 frames comes a new impression is extremely boring.. watch professional made shows: they set 'accents', vary 'speed', set focus, repeat, pick up close-ups, make 'drama' by editing etc ...-
my latest project are pictures of a 'Knight's Tournament' I visited with my lil' son.. ~40 pictures 'survived' after shooting ~500 ... and fit to ~8min music ... (a rough cut (no transitions/effects) could be seen here )

  • How do i fit slideshow to music in imovie '09?

argggg! about to pull my hair out. there has to be a button to push or tab to check! thanks sooo much for your help...

I'm not sure that's going to be a one button operation. Maybe try iPhoto instead which does have a button you can press to do this:

  • Created slide show in iPhoto, but with new version music no longer will play.  When I click on fit slideshow to music, iPhoto shuts down.  How can I fix this.

I created a slideshow in a previous version of iPhoto.  Since updating software the music in my slide show no longer plays.  How do I fix this?  If I select fit slideshow to music, the application will shutdown and the error file is sent and have to reopen iPhoto.

I reorganized iTunes music library and it works.

  • How do I make sure my music will play when I burn a copy of a slide show?

How do I make sure my music will be included when I burn a copy of a slide show.  I have made many many slide shows over the years with the music in perfect sync to the slides.  I recently updated my iMac to OS 7.  I did not want to do it because I heard it created issues with iPhoto. But because I had updated my iPhone and my iPad, and although I don't like OS 7 (the first time  I have not liked an upgrade)  I thought I could figure out how to solve problems/ differences.  Well, this has me stumped.  It plays perfectly on my iMac, but when I burned a copy to share with friends, the music did not burn or transfer.  Does anyone have any ideas why this does not work, and what I have to do to ensure that the music I selected and added to the slide show using the settings did not burn along with the iPhoto slide show?

What is really your MacOS X version? iOS 7 is the operating system for iPhone, iPad, iPod.
But what versions are you using on your iMac? Have you upgraded to Mavericks, MacOS X 10.9.x and iPhoto 9.5.1, or are you using an earlier version?
It plays perfectly on my iMac, but when I burned a copy to share with friends, the music did not burn or transfer.
How did you export the slideshow and burn the DVD?
To have the music play along with the slideshow, you need to export your Slideshow project as a video file - use the "Export" button below the Slideshow window and select a format.
Check, if the exported video does play well and the audio is present.
Then burn a video DVD using iDVD or Toast, or a similar program to burn video DVDs,  see:

  • How many hours of high quality music fits on a 16 gigabyte iPod

How many hours of high quality music fits on a 16 gigabyte iPod?

A "16Gb" iPod nano has enough room to store about 14.5Gb of music, assuming this to be the only media stored there.  If by "high quality" you mean lossless, using Apple Lossless/ALAC format, that equates to around 30 hours of music (there will be some variations depending on the nature of the music and the degree to which ALAC compresses the audio data).  AIFF files are larger, though of the same quality as ALAC - maximum in this case is approx. 20 hours.
For "iTunes Plus" quality (256kbps lossy compression) files will be between one-third and one-quarter the size of the same music in ALAC, so the total time goes up to around 90-120 hours.  My 16Gb 7th gen nano is currently full to capacity using a mix of 256kbps AAC and 320kbps MP3 files - iTunes reports the total time as 4.9 days (117 hours).

  • Aline my slides to beats & fit selected slides to music track is always grey I've tried every thing can someone please help figure this out

aline my slides to beats & fit selected slides to music track is always Gray i cant seem to figure it out its something simple i'm sure I've been trying to work it out for hours can some one help me activate these features

    Hello Michael,
that seems to depend on the theme of your Slideshow.
I found that all music adjustments are disabled, unless my Slideshow has the "Classic" theme, so if you really want to fit the slide duration to the music try to switch your presentation theme to "classic".
    Cheers
    Léonie
P.S. that seems to be a bug - the manual does not mention any restrictions in the newer themes.

  • "Fit slideshow to music" feature doesn't work

I've selected "Fit sideshow to music" on a slideshow I've made. Using a song imported from my iTunes library. Ken Burns effect is switched on.
But the feature doesn't work. The song ends but there are still more slides to show.
Isn't the idea that the computer will speed up the pix so they end just as the music ends?
Anyone know how to fix this?
    Thanks.

  • Premiere 8 fit slides to audio

Can't seem to find how to fit the slides to the audio in a slideshow.  Spent the last hour looking this up, can anybody help me?
    Thanks

As your found out, there is no "Fit Slides to Audio" option with the Premiere Elements 8.0/8.0.1 workspace.
If that is an important consideration, you could always create your slideshow in the Elements Organizer 8/Create/Slideshow Editor where there is that option and then import your Elements Organizer slideshow into Premiere Elements 8.0/8.0.1 for editing and export. You would use the Elements Organizer Slideshow Editor Output "Edit with Premiere Elements".
SG has suggested a way to get your photos and music to match up in the Premiere Elements workspace in the absence of the Fit Slides to Audio option. His approach seems to be
The easiest way to do it is to use Publish & Share/Computer/AVI to output your slideshow as an AVI (before you add your music). Then start new DV project, add your AVI and place it on your timeline along with your music.
I would like to suggest two other possibilities for your consideration, neither involves any intermediary export/import of the Timeline content.
    Approach 1.
Example. 6 photos on the Premiere Elements Timeline, each with a duration of 5 seconds. So, total duration = 30 seconds.
Music on the audio track = 38 seconds. Giving you a total difference of 8 seconds between the photos and audio.
    a. That means that you need to add 8 seconds/6 photos 1.33 seconds to each photo.
    b. Hold down the Shift Key of the computer main keyboard and click on each of the 6 photos to select all at the same time. Then right click anywhere in the highlight, select Time Stretch.
    c. The Time Stretch dialog is where you will be adjusting the duration of each of the photos all at the same time. The question becomes what values do I put into the Duration field of that dialog to indicate 1:33 seconds.  The readout is shown 00;00;05;00 for each of your clips (hours;minutes;seconds;frames). So changing the seconds, 5 to 6 is easy enough. But how to handle the .33 seconds to reflect frames?
    If you are in a 30 frames per second system, then 1 second/30 frames x 0.3 seconds/x frames = 9 frames.
So your Time Stretch dialog Duration field should read 00;00;06;09 instead of what is was originally.
The slides should fit audio or there abouts. Minor adjustment can be made with the mouse cursor.
    Approach 2.
    SmartSound Soundtrack
This is a Premiere Elements feature (free soundtracks as well as purchased ones) where you can cut the feature's music to the exact duration that you need, maintaining the arrangement of the music.
Please review the above and let us know if any of that worked for you.
    Thanks.

How do I consolidate an Itunes music library on two windows computers onto one windows computer?

Click here, pick the option which best fits your situation, open the larger library in iTunes, move the media files from the smaller one into the library in the open iTunes program window or the Automatically Add to iTunes folder, and then import the playlists. Any rented movies will only play on the computer they were originally downloaded to.

    Ways to share photos
Using iPhoto on your device, you can share your photos in many ways:
    Send photos to other devices
Beam photos, albums, events, journals, and slideshows (send wirelessly) from your device to another iOS device with iPhoto installed. Beaming shares photos in full resolution.
If you have a device that supports AirDrop, you can send photos wirelessly to other iOS devices that use AirDrop. You can use AirDrop to share photos, albums, events, journals, and slideshows. AirDrop shares photos in full resolution.
If you have an iCloud account and you’ve set up My Photo Stream, photos you save to the Camera Roll are sent to all of your devices.
Use photos in other apps on your device
Send your photos to other apps installed on your device, including iMovie and other iPhoto-supported apps.
Use your photos in any app by saving them to the Camera Roll.
    Send photos to your computer
Import photos directly into iPhoto or Aperture on your computer.
Save photos to your computer using iTunes.
    Share photos on the web
Post photos to your Twitter, Flickr, or Facebook accounts directly from iPhoto. You can add comments when you post photos using iPhoto.
Create a web journal with your photos and publish your journal as a webpage using your iCloud account.
Create a slideshow with your photos and publish your sllideshow as a webpage using your iCloud account.
    Email, display, and print photos
Send an email with your photos.
Share photos using the Messages app on your device.
Present your photos as a slideshow with music and transition effects.
View photos on an external display using an HDMI cable adapter or on a TV using AirPlay and Apple TV.
Print photos from your device to a printer that supports AirPrint. Tap > Print and select a printer.
Create books of your photos and order professionally printed and bound copies of them.
Order professional-quality prints, and have them delivered to an address you specify.

  • How do i fit a 7 min short from quicktime to fit to 100mb

    hi ,
i wondering how do i fit a 7 min short from quicktime to fit to 100mb to display online?
what settings should i use to get the best quality?
would i shrink the video quality? in quicktime compressor?
    from fcp to quicktime now.
worse comes to worst i'll make it 5 1/2 minutes to shrink it and have the better quality
    any suggestions?
    tks for reading !
    ju

I've done a max of 8 1/2 minutes so far under 100 MB. For YouTube (I'm Assuming). Here's what I do:
    File>Export>Using QT Conversion.
    Format: QuickTime Movie
    Click Options...
Click Settings under the Video Box.
    Compression Type: H.264
    Frame Rate: Current
    Key frames: Automatic
    Deselect Frame Reordering.
Moving down to the next box...
Choose Your Quality Level (I leave mine on High).
    Choose Multi-pass or Single-Pass
**Multi-pass=Much better quality same file size, much longer encoding.
    **Single-pass=Okay quality, quick encoding.
In the Data Rate Box, select 'Restrict To'.
Enter in the text box from around 350 to 400.
    Click Okay in this window.
Now Under the video again, click Size.
Change 'Compressor Native' into '320x240 QVGA.
    Click Settings under Sound.
If audio isn't that important to you, you can lower the quality. If you have music or something, you might want to turn the volume up.
    Click Okay.
Now Below Sound, deselect 'Prepare for Internet Streaming'.
    Click Okay.
Name your file, save it, upload it, enjoy it, kiss it, whatever!
    Your Done!

  • Can someone please tell me how to extend a piece of music I have created in garageband, I cannot find anything in the help topics and i am new to the system.

Can someone please tell me how to extend a piece of music that I have created in garageband.  I am new to the system and cannot find any info in the help topics.  The music is currently only 1 minute and I need it to be 1.39sec to fit in with the film it will be used with in iMovie.  Thanks.

    Yes, it helps.
You are using a version of the newest GarageBand 10.0, and not GarageBand '11 as in your original post.  And I was sending you screenshots from GarageBand '11, LOL!
In GarageBand  10.0 is the end-of-song marker hiding behind the zoom controls. Zoom out as far as possible by shifting the zoom scrollbar to the left. Then you should be able to see a corner of the end-of-song marker peeping out behind the zoom control. Try to grab it with the mouse pointer and shift it to the time you want.
