If you are having an issue with a jagged line throught the bluetooth icon in your menu bar, you should restart your Mac. If the icon does not change, disconnect all USB devices and restart again. See this article for reference -

In particular the section titled What do the icons on the Bluetooth menu bar mean?

  • How do I fix a Configuration Error on MacBook Pro?

I have a MacBook Pro 2.4 GHz Intel Core i5 with 8 gigs of memory. I was running CS6 and my video board went out. I got it fixed but lost all my data on my hard drive. So I tried installing cs6 from a disk image that I had saved and after entering the serial code I received that my license was revoked. That could be true since I was at another company when I purchased it. Now I'm trying out the TRIAL Adobe cloud solution and after installing and getting updates, when i clicked on the app I get a configuration error when trying to open the . Do I need to delete some library items that are conflicting when I tried to install CS6?
    Here is the error:

  • How much to fix a dead screen on macbook pro

So, my friend's family all have macs, and love them, But thursday thier macbook pro screen died, they can still hear the computer running, but the screen is just black, as if it is turned off. So they went out and just bought a new one. It is at least 6 years old, I do not know any model numbers or anything. I am curious in buying it from them, and fixing it, to play with, and learn how macs work, since all I have ever used is windows (Except Ipads and Ipods), since Imacs, and macbooks cost over $1000. I was wondering about how much it would cost to fix it, if anyone has an idea. Also, if it costs too much to fix it, is it possible to hook up an ext

  • TS2839 how do i fix my dvd drive on macbook pro.  it is not accepting or taking in any cd/dvd's

Trying to install OS in my macbook pro.  DVD/CD drive is not letting or accepting the cd.   I could put it in 1/3, but the macbook does not take it in.  It seems something is stuck.  I checked to see if any cd is in there and even tried rebooting and holding down the trackpad to see if something ejects.   Please help.

You are going to have to take in for service, either at an Apple Store or a Service Provider. The slot-loading ultrathin drives in these Macs are somewhat fragile. Unless something is physically stuck inside, like a small diameter or irregularly shaped CD, there's a good chance that a part may be bent or damaged.
Here's additional info on CD/DVD issues and how to deal with them, but I wouldn't hold my breath: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2801

  • How do I fix lag on Mid 2010 MacBook Pro 13"?

I have a Mid 2010 MacBook Pro 13'' and lags often. I empty my rubbish bin every time its full, I close programs that are not in use at the moment and even refresh once in a while. For example, I only use Google Chrome and its still lagging even though I dont have any prgrams running. I also checked my stroage to see how much free space I have which is 450.75 GB free. What do I do?

    Hi mighty-hawk23,
    Welcome to the Support Communities!
What version of the Operating System are you running?
Here are some troubleshooting steps for Mavericks:
OS X Mavericks: If your Mac runs slowly
    http://support.apple.com/kb/PH13895
Other troubleshooting steps include Resetting the SMC and PRAM:
Intel-based Macs: Resetting the System Management Controller (SMC)
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3964
OS X Mavericks: Reset your computer’s PRAM
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ph14222
And using Disk Utility to verify and/or repair the disc:
Resolve startup issues and perform disk maintenance with Disk Utility and fsck
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1417
    Disk Utility
Start from the Recovery System or Internet Recovery (OS X Lion or Mountain Lion).
If your computer shipped with a Mac OS X Install disc, insert the installation disc, and restart the computer while holding the C key.
If using a Recovery partition or Internet Recovery (OS X Lion and later): When your computer finishes starting up, choose Disk Utility from the Utilities window.
If using an installation disc: Choose Disk Utility from the Installer menu.
Important: If you started from an installation disc, do not click Continue in the first screen of the Installer. If you do, you must start from the disc again to access Disk Utility.
    Click the First Aid tab.
Click the disclosure triangle to the left of the hard drive icon to display the names of your hard disk volumes and partitions.
    Select your OS X volume.
Click Repair. Disk Utility checks and repairs the disk.
    Hope this information helps ...

  • Have 2006 MacBook Pro with wireless KB.  Some of keys (caps lock, tab) are not working.  How do I fix this?, Have 2006 MacBook Pro with wireless KB.  Some of keys (caps lock, tab) are not working.  How do I fix this?

Have a 2006 MacBook Pro with wireless mouse and Keyboard.  Some of keys (caps lock, tab) on KB do not work any longer.  I attempted to replace wireless KB with wired KB, but could not find one that was compatible with Snowleopard (10.6.8) OS.  Would like to replace KB with either another wireless KB or wired KB.
However, in view of the scarcity of the above items, it appears I might serve myself better by fixing my current KB.  Any suggestions?
    Thanks!

  • How do I fix safari on my new macbook pro?

When I open a page in Safari, for example Netflix, and then click on a button, a new window pops up trying to sell me something, for example a "Macfixer" - no matter how many times I close the window, or how many times I empty safari cache and reset it, the problem persists. I have reset the preferences at least a dozen times, and each time I open safari, they have bounced back to "allow cookies", etc.

    Helpful Links Regarding Malware Problems
If you are having an immediate problem with ads popping up see The Safe Mac » Adware Removal Guide and AdwareMedic.
Open Safari, select Preferences from the Safari menu. Click on Extensions icon in the toolbar. Disable all Extensions. If this stops your problem, then re-enable them one by one until the problem returns. Now remove that extension as it is causing the problem.
The following comes from user stevejobsfan0123. I have made minor changes to adapt to this presentation.
Fix Some Browser Pop-ups That Take Over Safari.
Common pop-ups include a message saying the government has seized your computer and you must pay to have it released (often called "Moneypak"), or a phony message saying that your computer has been infected, and you need to call a tech support number (sometimes claiming to be Apple) to get it resolved. First, understand that these pop-ups are not caused by a virus and your computer has not been affected. This "hijack" is limited to your web browser. Also understand that these messages are scams, so do not pay any money, call the listed number, or provide any personal information. This article will outline the solution to dismiss the pop-up.
    Quit Safari
Usually, these pop-ups will not go away by either clicking "OK" or "Cancel." Furthermore, several menus in the menu bar may become disabled and show in gray, including the option to quit Safari. You will likely have to force quit Safari. To do this, press Command + option + esc, select Safari, and press Force Quit.
    Relaunch Safari
If you relaunch Safari, the page will reopen. To prevent this from happening, hold down the 'Shift' key while opening Safari. This will prevent windows from the last time Safari was running from reopening.
This will not work in all cases. The shift key must be held at the right time, and in some cases, even if done correctly, the window reappears. In these circumstances, after force quitting Safari, turn off Wi-Fi or disconnect Ethernet, depending on how you connect to the Internet. Then relaunch Safari normally. It will try to reload the malicious webpage, but without a connection, it won't be able to. Navigate away from that page by entering a different URL, i.e. www.apple.com, and trying to load it. Now you can reconnect to the Internet, and the page you entered will appear rather than the malicious one.

If you require anti-virus protection Thomas Reed recommends using ClamXAV. (Thank you to Thomas Reed for this recommendation.)
From user Joe Bailey comes this equally useful advice:
    The facts are:
    1. There is no anti-malware software that can detect 100% of the malware out there.
    2. There is no anti-malware that can detect everything targeting the Mac.
    3. The very best way to prevent the most attacks is for you as the user to be aware that
the most successful malware attacks rely on very sophisticated social engineering
techniques preying on human avarice, ****, and fear.
    4. Internet popups saying the FBI, NSA, Microsoft, your ISP has detected malware on
your computer is intended to entice you to install their malware thinking it is a
        protection against malware.
    5. Some of the anti-malware products on the market are worse than the malware
from which they purport to protect you.
    6. Be cautious where you go on the internet.
    7. Only download anything from sites you know are safe.
    8. Avoid links you receive in email, always be suspicious even if you get something
you think is from a friend, but you were not expecting.
    9. If there is any question in your mind, then assume it is malware.

  • How do I fix a frozen screen on MacBook Pro where you can still move the mouse?

I tried rebooting several times. I can move the mouse around but when I try to open programs, I'm not able to. I bought this MacBook in 2009 if that helps.

Might be time for an OS reinstall.  Back up all your data and try that.  You don't have to erase the partition first, just install on top of what you have as a refresh.  If that doesn't fix it, then do a full wipe and reinstall.  If the problem persists, then it's a hardware issue.
You can try an SMC and PRAM reset prior the OS reload options to see if that fixes it since that doesn't require a ton of work and won't cause loss of data.

  • How do i fix the pixelization on my MacBook Pro?

My computer started frezzing up so i decided de restart my computer and now the screen is all pixelized for some reason please help i have no clue what happen or why (here is screen shot of my screen).

Here is something i copied from another forum site that could answer your question-
Look in your "System Profiler", you can find it using Spotlight or looking for it in the Utilities folder, which is in your Applications folder.
This will give you the model number, which you will then have to find online (probably using Google) to find out what speed that particular model number is.
Then again, someone might have an easier answer.
"That's exactly what I did. My MacBook Pro has a Seagate Momentus ST9160823AS Drive in it. Running that model number, it shows a 7200 RPM speed."

Most days I get a total freeze and have to hard reset. I also occasionally get the grey screen and the prompt to restart. The weirdest issue is when the Macbook just resets randomly. I've done the hardware test all ok. The logic board was replaced a while back as per the known issues with '08 MBP, graphics all ok. I'm running 10.5.8

    Hi Harminder,
This happens because an app has already been deployed and you are deploying it again using the same version.
    Resolution:
Open the AppManifest.xml file and change the version.

    Hi there, harleygirl.
A look around the internet and my previous knowledge indicates this is not an issue with firefox, but with how the server that the app is run on is incorrectly configured. To test this, please install an old version of firefox. You can download an older version from http://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/all-older.html then try to visit the website again. Please let us know if it turns out that it works with version 3.6
