How do I fix Apps that failed to download, just says "waiting"

I have three apps that are on screen with a grey icon and a download progress indicator. They all say "waiting" and have been like this or 2 days. How can I fix them?
Any help appreciated, I'm new to iOS and I'm stumbling a bit.
Thanks.

Try a couple things.......first, reboot your iPad.  Press and hold BOTH the power and home buttons at the SAME tiem for at least 10 seconds (ignore the red slider to shut down) until the Apple Logo appears, then let go of both buttons and your iPad will restart.
Sometimes, the App Store on iPad can get confused.  Try downloading a free app (you can delete it later if you don't want it) and then see if that get's your waiting apps to download.

  • How do I delete apps that I've downloaded that are duds?

How do I delete apps that are duds?

Thanks JimHDK. I forgot to mention these duds are in my history of apps. The duds take up a lot of the listings and i'd like to no longer see them (for re-open or use).  I do understand and use the feature you mentioned.

  • How do I download an app that failed to download when the App Store says all Unfinished Downloads are downloaded?

I purchased a 16GB game 2 days ago and the app failed to download (error said to check Internet connection, which was fine). I tried to redownload it multiple ways: Checking for unfinished downloads (all purchases have been downloaded), in my Purchase history (app is listed under Other purchases with a gray button that has no text and the button doesn't work other than giving a hover/click indication). I've tried trashing the various .plists/caches/cookies to no avail.
I've searched my computer, looked in the dock, looked in launchpad, app definitely is not there.
I am not running any anti-virus software. I'm running 10.7.4.
When I initially purchased this game it wouldn't download, but the downloading icon did show in Launchpad. I used the recommendation of deleting it from Launchpad and restarting and that started the download. It had downloaded over 6GB when I went to bed, but I awoke to the failed download error.
    Thanks for the help.

Did you check your Applications folder ??
    See if this helps...
How to re download apps from the Mac App Store:
Open the App Store. From the menu bar click Store > Sign In
Click Purchases from the top of the App Store window.
Select which apps you want to re download. Then right or control click where you see Installed  then click Install.
Make sure and use the same Apple ID used for the original purchase.
    I purchased a 16GB game
Which app did you purchase ???

None of my apps that I downloaded are opening and all of them just say "waitin

    Hi charmedbella10,
Thanks for using Apple Support Communities. The following is a past discussion that dealt with a similar issue of apps seemingly paused in "waiting" and may help:
App updates won't download on my...: Apple Support Communities
    https://discussions.apple.com/thread/4111336
Try tapping the App, so that it changes to Paused instead of Waiting, then tap it again to resume the install.
Make sure you don't have any paused downloads in other apps either, like the App Store or iTunes Store.
If that doesn't do it, try resetting or restoring the iPhone.

  • How can I play apps that I've downloaded with iTunes on my Windows laptop?

  • TS1702 An app that I loaded is locked saying "waiting". I cannot get it to go away or load

I have purchased an app, it said it was installing it the said it was waiting. I cannot either delete it or order it again.  It is locked. How to I get rid of it?

Maybe something here will help. Just ignore or skip anything that you have already tried unsuccessfully.
Reboot the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons.
Make sure that you do not have a stalled download in iTunes - a song or podcast .... if you have a download in there that did not finish, complete that one first. Only one thing can download at a time on the iPad so that could be what is causing the problem.
If that doesn't work - sign out of your account, restart the iPad and then sign in again.
Settings>iTunes & App Store>Apple ID. Tap your ID and sign out. Restart the iPad by holding down on the sleep button until the red slider appears and then slide to shut off. To power up hold the sleep button until the Apple logo appears and let go of the button.
Go back to Settings>iTunes & App Store>Sign in and then try to update again. Tap one waiting icon only if necessary to start the download stream.
You can also try deleting the waiting icons - tap and hold down on an icon until it wiggles - the tap the X on the icon to delete it. Then try to download again.
You can try resetting all settings. Settings>General>Reset>Reset All Settings. You will have to enter all of your device settings again.... All of the settings in the settings app will have to be re-entered.
If all else fails, download the updates or the apps in iTunes on your computer and then sync the content to your iPad.

  • I have two apps that won't download just sitting there

MMy grand daughter was trying to download two apps at the same time. She can't remember what they were. They are just sitting there in a grey colour. I can't get rid of them either  I have an ipad2 I shut my iPad off last night & turned it on this morning they are still there.

You can also try to delete the apps. Try holding down on the icons until they wiggle and if the X appears on the app icon, tap on it to delete the app. Tap the home button when you are done. If that doesn't work, try deleting them in Settings>General>Usage>Storage>Manage Storage. Find the app, tap on it and tap Delete App in the next screen.

How do I prevent apps that I've downloaded to my Iphone from automatically downloading to my kids ipod touch.    Also how do I prevent apps which my kid has downloaded to her ipod touch from automatically downloading to my ipad/iphone when I connect to the computer.   I manage all through my same itunes account.

When you connect a device to ITunes go to the Apps tab for that device and uncheck "Automatically sync new apps". You will have to do this for each device.
