How do I fix Firefox updates so they take place only on a certain date

I access the internet via satellite (rural SW France!), and have a limit on downloads each month. I want the Firefox updates to happen only on the 5th of each month, not automatically. How can I stop Firefox from updating automatically, and select the date I want the updates to take place?

There is no built in way to get Firefox to check for updates on 5th of each month. You can disable the automatic updates and manually check for updates. For details of how to do that see [[updating Firefox]].

  • How to setup a Firefox update server on a Windows 2012 server?

Are there any instructions available on how to setup a Firefox update server that can automatically download updates from the Mozilla site and users can then grab the updates from the internal server? I'm using wampserver so that I can utilize Apache and PHP on the 2012 server.
    Thanks!

How do I retore app icons to screen after IO6 update?  They now appear only in App store list

Go to iTunes, click on Apps in the left window, to bring up your app library. Then click on "check for updates" in the right window, bottom corner. If there are any updates available, you'll be notified of the number and you'll have to choose the apps you want to update in the next screen shown, or update them all at once after filling in your password.
You can also click on one app in the library and choose "get info" to see the actual version saved in your library.

  • Using firefox, scrolling over a link does nothing, but using IE on the same link I see an .aspx file that I can open. How do I fix firefox?

Going to a state sponsored site I see a link (underlined and in blue), but scrolling over it while in Firefox does nothing. Clicking on the link also does nothing.
Changing browsers to IE, I then go to the same site and scrolling over link changes cursor. Clicking on the link opens a new page.
The link's address is an .aspx file.
How can I fix Firefox to view this link.

Thanks for the try, but no help.
I tried removing the "style", but it did absolutely nothing.
    I did notice something odd.
    Going to the state site:
    http://ww2.doh.state.fl.us/IRM00PRAES/PRASINDI.ASP?LicId=295&ProfNBR=3101
there is a link "Going to complaint", when I scroll over this it reacts normally and clicking allows me to open a new page, BUT, the page is not in the browser, rather it appears to be a new window floating over the browser. This window has no address, it appears to be a separate document rather then a part of the website. In this window document there is a link, underlined and in blue, under the heading "case number". There is no way to remove style from this window, and clicking in Firefox does nothing, while doing so in IE leads me to a PDF document.
I am a neophyte computer user, but wonder if there is something additional needed so Firefox can handle the .aspx file.

Norton has all of my passwords saved in the toolbar, and now I can access any of them! How do I uninstall Firefox 17 and get back to 16 so that my toolbar works again? (I already ran the Norton Live Update and it did not fix the problem.)

I already ran the Norton Live update and restarted with no success. I have Norton Security Suite, not Norton 360. The only way I have been able to make this work in the past is to stay 2 or 3 versions behind on Firefox.

  • How do I fix firefox?

I accidentally clicked and dragged the file on bookmarks that said mozilla into itself and now my firefox has changed. there are no tabs at the top to get to history or anything else. It just says most visited, getting started and latest headlines. How do I fix this? I tried to delete mozilla firefox and redownload it but it stayed the same. I would like to change this back if it is possible.
    Thank you

Certain Firefox problems can be solved by performing a ''Clean reinstall''. This means you remove Firefox program files and then reinstall Firefox. Please follow these steps:
'''Note:''' You might want to print these steps or view them in another browser.
#Download the latest Desktop version of Firefox from http://www.mozilla.org and save the setup file to your computer.
#After the download finishes, close all Firefox windows (click Exit from the Firefox or File menu).
#Delete the Firefox installation folder, which is located in one of these locations, by default:
    #*'''Windows:'''
    #**C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox
    #**C:\Program Files (x86)\Mozilla Firefox
#*'''Mac:''' Delete Firefox from the Applications folder.
#*'''Linux:''' If you installed Firefox with the distro-based package manager, you should use the same way to uninstall it - see [[Installing Firefox on Linux]]. If you downloaded and installed the binary package from the [http://www.mozilla.org/firefox#desktop Firefox download page], simply remove the folder ''firefox'' in your home directory.
#Now, go ahead and reinstall Firefox:
##Double-click the downloaded installation file and go through the steps of the installation wizard.
##Once the wizard is finished, choose to directly open Firefox after clicking the Finish button.
Please report back to see if this helped you!

  • How can I set Firefox update preferences via script so I can configure our 200 Macs to disable checking for updates?

Most of our Mac users do not have admin privileges. So when they get alerted about Firefox updates, they don't have the ability to install them. We would like to disable Firefox for checking for updates, then push out updates from our software server as needed. We have about 200 machines to configure. Is there a way to disable checking for updates via script (bash or Applescript)? And if so, is there a guide or web site to explain the process?

Use a mozilla.cfg file in the Firefox program folder to lock prefs or specify default values.
Place a file local-settings.js in the defaults\pref folder where you also find the file channel-prefs.js to specify using mozilla.cfg.
    pref("general.config.filename", "mozilla.cfg");
    pref("general.config.obscure_value", 0); // use this to disable the byte-shift
    See:
    * http://kb.mozillazine.org/Locking_preferences
You can use these functions in mozilla.cfg:
defaultPref(); // set new default value
pref(); // set pref, but allow changes in current session
lockPref(); // lock pref, disallow changes

  • How can I script Firefox updates using vbScript, PowerShell or C#?

I would like to script Firefox updates using vbScript, PowerShell or C#, are there any API calls I use to do this? There are several different OS version versions that I support and auto update is not an option. I do updates at a specific time of the month. I would like to write a script that would download and install the update for the currently installed version of Firefox (32 or 64 bit) for the version of the OS (32 or 64bit). I can detect the OS version and the Firefox version. I can download updates but I do not want to hard code anything.

hello, for some documentation on how the firefox updates work, please refer to https://wiki.mozilla.org/Software_Update (also the links at the bottom of the page!).

  • How do you cancel Firefox updates

I want to block certain sites and videos but everytime Firefox updates the add ons become obselete and have to be updated to block sites and videos.
I am not here everyday so when I miss the updates, access to blocked sites and videos is activated again.

Depending on your OS, in Firefox, go to Options->Advanced->Updates tab and set accordingly.

  • How can I set Firefox to print to PDF, the only otions I have are (1) My Canon printer, (2) Fax or (3) Microsoft XPS document writer. There is no option for PDF

A couple of weeks ago, from the file menu, in my print options was to print a web page to PDF, that facility is no longer there. does anyone know how can I set Firefox to print to PDF.
The only options I have are (1) My Canon printer, (2) Fax or (3) Microsoft XPS document writer. There is no option for PDF

Firefox generally displays the printers in Windows' Printers folder (Start orb > Devices and Printers). If it is missing one of the printers listed there, could you indicate which one it is, for example, Adobe Distiller, PrimoPDF, CutePDF Writer, etc.?
If you previously had an add-on which added print-to-PDF functionality just to Firefox, perhaps it got disabled. You could check here:
orange Firefox button ''or'' classic Tools menu > Add-ons > Extensions
Also, are you really running Firefox 8.0.1? That version from last November is no longer secure and has been superseded by Firefox 11. If you browse the web widely, you should update for your security.
