How do I fix? Keyboard and mouse cannot enter data on IMAC

Both my wireless mouse and my wired keyboard cannot enter data. They are frozen out. But a wired mouse will work through the USB port on the back of my keyboard.
Help.

  • How can I remove keyboard and mouse, to use my iMac as a living picture?

    Hi
I would like to use my old imac G5 as a simple viewer, just to read loop DVDs.
I would like to hang my imac on the wall, without keyboard and mouse, and I get an error message "No keyboard detected, no mouse detected" and my living picture is wasted.
    Anyone could help me?
    Thanks in advance.

Thanks Matt for your quick reply,
But it's not real dvd, just a dvd disc file, and it will turn all year long with the same movie !

  • How about my microsoft keyboard and mouse?

I have a microsoft wireless keyboard and mouse that have the extra buttons, like media controls, volume controls, the F-keys that are also shortcuts like undo & redo & new& open & such and I was wondering if those will work with my MacBook Pro that I am going to buy sometime soon. Like will Microsoft come out with a driver, does Apple supply one, will it just work?
I didn't look hard, but I couldn't find one post already about this, so I thought I might ask the question. I'm hoping that it will work, because I like my keyboard and mouse, but I'm thinking that it probably won't work as anything but a keyboard (the media control keys won't work and such)

I have a older wireless Microsoft keyboard/mouse at work (can't remember the model) and it is connected to a KVM with a Windows machine and various Macs. The volume controls works and I use F12 for the CD eject, which is a standard Apple keyboard command. Haven't tried the other keys on the Mac side mainly because I don't have a need for them. If they do work I'll post back.

  • Keyboard and mouse won't connect to iMac

This morning, I suddenly lost connection between my 27' iMac and the wireless magic mouse. I had just scavenged a pair of batteries from a remote control the other day and while I wasn't notified of low batteries this morning, I assumed those new batteries must be dead. So I replaced them with shiny new ones and.....nothing. Using keyboard navigation, I tried to re-connect but nothing would work. My next step was a restart. This is where the computer lost the keyboard. So, again, I replaced the batteries in the keyboard and went through the initial bluetooth setup assistant procedure when trying to restart without a keyboard. It would find the keyboard, connect to it and then immediately loose it. I never got enough time to enter the password confirmation the setup procedure gives you. I found an old wired keyboard and mouse and got logged in and I've been playing around with the bluetooth setup assistant with no luck. Both the mouse and keyboard go into "discoverable" mode when turned on (blinking green light) and the assistant sees them but will not connect. For the keyboard I get the message "the pairing attempt was unsuccessful. This configuration of Mac OS X and Bluetooth software could be invalid or unsupported." I'm running 10.6.7, update as prompted and haven't done anything out of the ordinary on this machine recently.
    Any ideas?

    Paul,
I don't think you did anything wrong.  I think it was just "one of those things".  Things should be OK now.
Give a shout if they aren't.

  • I was thinking of a new keyboard and mouse to go with the iMac

But I think the keyboard and mouse that come with this set will do their job admirably.
    Any comments?

    Just a little background here:
I was thinking of a Bluetooth Apple keyboard, which might come in time, but no real hurry.
The mouse was a Microsoft Bluetooth mouse. A few problems though:
CompUSA had one for $70, A little much fo a mouse.
And Compusa doesn't carry it anymore. Prolly the $70 asking price.
That and it might not work with the new configuration.
I played around with the Mighty Mouse at the Apple Store. Thought I could live it with it.

  • How do I stop keyboard and mouse sound effects?

I have tried everything for turning off sound effects on the Mac, but it is still making noises when I type or click the trackpad. How can I get these annoying noises to turn off?

Are you saying that, with the sound muted, you're still getting those sounds? Are you certain they are coming from the computer's speakers? Try plugging in a pair of headphones... do you hear the sounds through the headphones? Are the sounds playing for every single keypress and mouse click?
If you have any external mice or keyboards, disconnect them. Any nearby Bluetooth keyboards or mice should be turned off or have their batteries removed. Does this make a difference?
Try restarting the computer in safe mode. Test while in that mode. Does the problem continue?
These problems are not due to any kind of malware. There is no known malware for the Mac that behaves this way.

  • System Preferences: Could not load Keyboard and Mouse

Hi all, so after inadvertently reverting my Keyboard and Mouse PreferencePane to v3.0 (I'm currently on 10.4.11), my keyboard shortcuts are not being saved. I've tried countless ways to put the current version, 3.2, back into the PreferencePanes folder, repaired permissions and trashed the systempreferences.plist, but every time I open Sys Prefs again, Keyboard and Mouse cannot be loaded. I've tried installing the Pane using Pacifist which results in the same problem (using the 10.4.11 single, ie not combo update) and installing the single 10.4.11 update works, creating Keyboard and Mouse 3.2, but this Pane still cannot be loaded. If anyone has any idea how to make 3.2 work with the rest of my system- possibly with something related to Extensions? that's what started this problem- I would be extremely grateful.

Hi endingstart, and a warm welcome to the forums!
Use Disk Utility to Verify the HD first, then it appears to be time for An Archive & Install, which gives you a new OS, but can preserve all your files, pics, music, settings, etc., as long as you have plenty of free disk space...

  • Is there available for iMac OS X version 10.4.11 700 MHz Power PC G4 a wireless keyboard and mouse combo?

Is there a wireless keyboard and mouse combo anywhere available for iMac OS X version 10.4.11 700 MHz Power PC?

All the keyboards I'm finding require built-in Bluetooth, something G3 iMacs don't have. So you'd need to start with a Bluetooth USB adaptor like this:
    http://eshop.macsales.com/item/IOGear/GBU321/
Its specs says it works with Mac OS 10.3.9 or newer. The you should ba able to add a wireless board and/or mouse IF you find one that has support for a Mac OS level older than 10.5 or an Intel processor. Most current boards require 10.5.8, and Intel processor, or both.
The cost for all this could easily be 4-5X the used market value of a G3 iMac so please think this through carefully. A long USB extension cable might be a better option fo such an old computer.

  • When I disable my left windows key for gameing using Microsoft keyboard and mouse software, I can no longer type in firefox. How can i fix this?

Microsoft Keyboard and Mouse Software that you install with Microsoft keyboard and mice, (latest version) allows you to disable your windows key so that you don't accidentally hit it when gaming. When I take advantage of this feature, I can no longer type in Firefox. Typing in Firefox is completely disabled. Other browsers, windows, applications work, but not Firefox. What is it about the windows key that firefox needs for typing. Strange problem, but annoying because I have to use a different browser while game. Certainly not a deal breaker, but kinda strange.

  • I have two IMacs and I want to set them up so i can use one keyboard and mouse-   How do i make this happen?

How do i make it happen so I can use two seperate iMac computers as one set-up with one keyboard and one mouse?

If the keyboard and mouse are wired, then a USB KVM switch will work.
If they are wireless, you should be able to connect the wirelessly via Bluetooth settings. discover the same keyboard and mouse on each iMac.
However, you cannot use them on each iMac simultaneously. I think it would be rather difficult for you to switch between them (disconnecting and reconnecting them over and over again).
Most iMacs come shipped with a keyboard and mouse by default. How come you only have one keyboard?
Keyboards and mice are not that expensive either.

my bluetooth says 'Not Available' how do i get it to work again. I have restarted the computer several times and have replaced the batteries in both the keyboard and mouse and yet it still is not working! please help

I have had the same problem. It was cured by turning computer off and/or restarting it. I am not sure  if once was enough. I think shutting down must cut out whatever it is that blocks bluetooth. Good luck

We just moved a couple of those CPUs the other day.  Can you indicate your location with the name of a city near you?  A user group might be nearby.
