How do I fix my case fans??

I have two 80 mm case fans (12v). I was wondering what the allignment of the fans should be. Should These fans blow air INTO the case or should they SUCK OUT the air from the case. I currently use a 350 Watt CODEGEN PSU with a single fan which sucks air INTO the PSU and hence INTO the case. Problem with sucking air into the case is that a lot of dust gets into the cabinet. On the other hand, sucking air out of the case leaves lesser air for the CPU and NB fans to effictively cool the CPU and NB. Any sugestions??
I plan to overclock, but not right now. The temperatures at no load are as follows:
With Side Pannels Fixed -  CPU=51 Degrees Cel   System=44 Degrees Cel
Without Side Pannels (Open Case) -  CPU=43 Degrees Cel   System=41 Degrees Cel
Is my comp overheating?
Current Rig Config:
P IV 2.8c with HTT Enabled
MSI 875P Neo-FISR Motherboard (BIOS ver 3.2)
512Mb x 2 Kingmax (MPXC22D-383) PC-3200 CL2.5184 pin DDR DIMMs Running in DUAL CHANNEL
ATI 9500 Pro 128 Mb DDR (AGP 8x / Fast Writes Enabled)
Sound Blaster Audigy Platinum
Pioneer 16x DVD ROM / Sony 52x CD-RW
80 Gb Seagate HDD 7200 RPM
Codegen 350Watt SMPS

As mentioned in the other of your thread, you PSU is weak currently, so maybe when you get another PSU, it should be intaking air to the PSU and exhuast out from the rear.
Just always remember the rule of "Hot air rises and cool air falls" and you'll most probably know where the fans are to be placed. Next, you should always try to keep the same number of intake fans and exhaust fans to keep a good capacity of airflow within the chassis.

    Hi rhaughan,
I see that you have concerns about your operating temperature of your computer while using resource-heavy applications such as gaming applications. I have an article that will address some of the concerns you have mentioned:
Mac notebooks: Operating temperature - Apple Support
    http://support.apple.com/en-is/HT201640
While there are third-party utilities that measure the temperature of a notebook computer, it is important to understand that these utilities are not measuring the external case temperature. The actual case temperature is much lower. Never use third-party applications to diagnose possible hardware issues—instead, contact Apple or go to an Apple Retail Store or Apple Authorized Service Provider.
You should also see this article for even further information about your fans:

  • My MacBook Air 13' (2013) will occasionally start the fan at full blast, not connect to any wifi or detect any wifi, and will remove the battery icon from my menu bad as well as tell me there is no battery connected. How do I fix this?

My MacBook Air 13' (2013) will occasionally start the fan at full blast, not connect to any wifi or detect any wifi, and will remove the battery icon from my menu bad as well as tell me there is no battery connected. How do I fix this? I have restarted my computer multiple times, **** it down, and ran a diagnostic test to tell me nothing is wrong and my computer is not running any applications. There is no reason for the fan to be on full blast! when I try to set the option to show my battery icon in the menu bar, it will automatically uncheck. How do I fix all of this?

Have you tried SMC and PRAM resets?

  • I have Firefox 9.0.1, and a few days ago my font became Bold, I am using Times New Roman, this seems to be also the case in IE, but the Chrome is not affected, also the fonts in my Word are fine, how can I fix this problem? Thanks!

    Firefox 9.0.1,
When i write in the search box on Google the font is bold and on some website it is bold also in the gmail but on other sites it is fine.
Please let me know how can I fix this.

So, you do not see any fonts bold that shouldn't be bold?
What are your current default font settings?
If you have increased the minimum font size then try the default setting "none" as a (too) high value can cause issues.
*Tools > Options > Content : Fonts & Colors > Advanced > Minimum Font Size (none)
Make sure that you allow websites to choose their fonts.
*Tools > Options > Content : Fonts & Colors > Advanced > [X] "Allow pages to choose their own fonts, instead of my selections above"
It is better not to increase the minimum font size in case you need a larger font, but use an extension to set the default page zoom to prevent issues with overlapping text.

I have a new Macbook Air, 6 months old, and for the last few days the fan had run continuously, this is the first time it has ever run, and now it won't stop, the fan starts up as soon as I turn it on and the computer seems to running more slowy. The computer is not hot but I am worried it may burn out,.Any ideas on how I can fix this please ?

    Hello dwb,
Here is the screen shot, just the top half, there are another 10 pages, but I guess this should enough for you to have an idea of waht is going on, bit small I am afraid. No, I don't have any apps setup to run when I open my computer, the kernel, varies between 290 and 305 per cent ish.
Would that PRAM thing help ? I think it may be the computer itself, well something inside, as this the first time that the fan has ever started running since I have this computer, even when I have 3 or 4 apps running.
Thank you again for your advice,

My pavillion g6 notebook fan is not working how do i fix it?
i found out  a few days ago when i was not hearing the sound my fan usually does because its really loud
and then 1 day i got the message. and is there a way to make it quiet?

    Hey FlowZ,
Here is the Manual that shows you how to remove all the replaceable part in the notebook. Go to page 73 where it tells you the part #'s for the fans depending on what your processor is.
Now, i wouldn't advise you to remove it yourself.
But these are the steps to remove the Fan.
    1. Turn the system board right-side up, with the front toward you.
    2. Disconnect the fan cable from the system board (1).
    3. Remove the Phillips 3.0 x 2.0 screw (2) that secures the fan/heat sink assembly to the system
    board.
    4. Follow the sequence embossed on heat sink to loosen the six Phillips 10.0 x 2.0 captive screws
    (3) that secure the fan/heat sink assembly to the system board.
If you want to replace the fan just go to Hp PartSurfer and search by your product #.
Here is a Document that will help you with Reducing Heat inside the PC.
    Also,Reducing Fan Noise.

  • How do I fix this (cheaply)?

My Powerbook fan has been quite loud for the past few months, so I bought a bottle of compressed air to spray off any dust that may have been surrounding it. Not only did it not work, it made my computer WORSE.
The colors on my screen are screwing up worse than you would believe. I've never seen this happen before (on any computer), so it's quite difficult to explain. I took this screenshot with Preview to give you an idea:
    http://i41.tinypic.com/2mbcoz.jpg
Notice that stupid crap in the upper left-hand corner. Now picture that blinking all over your entire screen, keeping you from working/reading/ANYTHING! When I change my desktop background, it momentarily fixes it. The same goes for dragging and highlighting with my mouse. Weird, huh?
Anyway, it's gotten consistently worse over the past couple days. Did I spray the wrong computer part? How can I fix it? Please help, this is the most obnoxious computer problem I've ever dealt with.
    Thanks in advance.

Hi, mOrdoth. It looks as though you have a video hardware problem, and if that's the case, the fix won't be cheap. Run the Apple Hardware Test that's available on one of the discs that were originally shipped with your computer, and let us know exactly what it tells you (the report will be cryptic, not necessarily plain English).
If the test reports no problems, connect an external monitor to the Powerbook and see whether the same problem appears on it, or whether it's limited to the built-in display. If only the built-in display shows the video hash, the problem is in the video cable from the GPU to the LCD panel or in the LCD panel itself. Apple Hardware Test can't detect problems in those.
It would also be helpful to identify your Powerbook model precisely for us. This article will help you do that.
