How do i fix my iod touch... screen stays black

how do i fix my iod touch..... the screen stays black with the apple logo then cuts off again after like 5 minutes..... someone please help me ?

Please tell me it's not jailbroken.  If it is, all bets are off.  It is not...
First, try a system reset.  It cures many ills and it's quick, easy and harmless...
Hold down the on/off switch and the Home button simultaneously until the screen blacks out or you see the Apple logo.  Ignore the "Slide to power off" text if it appears.  You will not lose any apps, data, music, movies, settings, etc.
If the Reset doesn't work, try a Restore.  Note that it's nowhere near as quick as a Reset.  Connect via cable to the computer that you use for sync.  From iTunes, select the iPad/iPod and then select the Summary tab.  Follow directions for Restore and be sure to say "yes" to the backup.  You will be warned that all data (apps, music, movies, etc.) will be erased but, as the Restore finishes, you will be asked if you wish the contents of the backup to be copied to the iPad/iPod.  Again, say "yes."
Finally, if the Restore doesn't work, let the battery drain completely.  Then recharge for at least an hour and Restore again.

At the end of the basic Restore, you will be asked if you wish to sync the iPad/iPod.  As before, say "yes."  Note that that sync selection will disappear and the Restore will end if you do not respond within a reasonable time.  If that happens, only the apps that are part of the IOS will appear on your device.  Corrective action is simple -  choose manual "Sync" from the bottom right of iTunes.
If you're unable to do the Restore, go into Recovery Mode per the instructions here.

I have a 1st generation iPod touch, but it's impossible to turn it on. I've tried pushing the home- and lock screen-button at the same time, and I've tried charging it, but the screen stays black. What else can I do?

  • How do i fix my ipod touch screen

The screen on my ipod is a blueish-grey, and has backlight. It shows this screen every time the lock or home button is pressed and that is all its showing. It still makes nise lik ewhen i plug the charger in. This is the only screen that it is showing, and i've tried to turn it off by holding the power button for atleast 30 seconds, and also holding the power and home button together. All it does is just show this screen. The ipod touch is a 3rd generation and old. Does anyone have any advice. suggestions, or any possible reasons why the ipod is doing this?

    - if still not working, connect to your computer. If iTunes sees the iPod, restore the iPod.
