How do I fix my Macbook's sleep issue (OHC2)?
I have a Macbook unibody (2.4GHz from 2010) with the OS 10.8.5. After updating to the latest operating system and software updates, my Mac will not stay asleep for more than 5 seconds whether or not it's running plugged in or not nor will it stay asleep by closing the lid or by menu command. I ran Terminal to determine that I'm having an OHC2 issue.
I do not use any USB or Bluetooth device (BT is shut off), I'm not sharing any devices over the network, I've turned off all the wake up options in my system preferences, I've reset my SMC, but I'm still having this issue. I've googled "wake=OHC2" and have come across a bunch of people with problems, but no known solution. Please help, I'm tired of shutting off the computer everytime.
Upon further searching, it appears the only proven fix is to either take the Mac to the Genius Bar or do a clean reinstall of the OS...which I'm not really sure how to approach.

How can I fix my MacBook Pro? I have a relatively recent model of the MacBook Pro. I’ve been running Mavericks.
For the past few days, it has been randomly clicking off by itself, I guess crashing. I would be online or just doings on it, sometimes nothing at all, and the screen would go black, the computer would turn off. Then, I would proceed to try to turn it back on, and it won’t turn on for several minutes, no matter what buttons you push. I tried doing an SMC reset for myself. It did not help much. I deleted all my personal files, including plug-ins, especially flash player. I thought that helped, but the computer proceeded to turn off minutes later. Then, out of frustration, (as I have done twice or so before since having the computer) I did what may be called a factory reset for my computer. I erased the current operating system information/memory in disk utility, and then went on to reinstall OS X. This was working fine, and then, a few minutes into the downloading process, my computer turned off once again.
Now, I have no system to operate on. I keep turning the computer back on to try to do it again. But now, the computer tries to do a remote or internet recovery, and tries to re-download an operating system using my WiFi. I’m sure this would be successful, but the computer can’t function for more than a minute or two without crashing/turning off.
I am fairly certain that my power button is NOT stuck.
I did earlier notice the fan making noise, before doing the SMC reset.
The computer did seem to say there was no batteries available at one point.
(But all of this was okay after some point, and I was just doing the reset to try to correct the turning off the system was still doing)
A week or two ago, I did have a glitch where my desktop picture was flashing and acting weird, and other functions on my computer keyboard not working, like volume, keyboard brightness, etc. But I did fix it.
I have not ever had much on this Macbook pro. I do not download applications. I do not store nearly any files on the computer. I usually only use the flash player plug-in. This computer is only used for doing work/business, and for personal use online.
I can’t see why I would have so many problems.
Is it possible that erasing the memory twice or so before is causing an error or issue in the drive?
What is the root of this problem, and how can I fix it on my own?
I can’t really make any progress on the computer since it turns off after only a minute or two no matter what you are trying to do.

if your MacBook Pro doesn’t stay active long enough to perform an OS X Internet Recovery, then you should make an appointment at your nearest Apple store or Apple-authorized service provider to have them diagnose what’s ailing it. -

That does not work on model year older then 2010 and really doesn't work on any older then late 2011 models.
You will need a set of original system dvd disc thjat are always sypplied with every mac sold before Lion came out. Systems older then late release early 2011 models.
If you don't have them you kcan order a replacement set from apple by calling them. Have the serial number of you mac handy. -

Sure, the added heat sink and dissipator will help. Although a gel pad has a lot of heat capacity, meaning it has the ability to absorb a lot of heat, eventually it will saturate with heat from the MB and reach a point of stasis. Then it gets rid of heat the same way the Mac does, namely radiation and conduction into other things around and in contact with it, including air. Of course the Mac has a fan if it needs it. The gel pad doesn't.
If the gel pad is sitting on a metal surface, like a steel file cabinet or something like that, it helps to drain the heat away from the pad, and by extension, the Mac. The aluminum cookware worked like that. I had heat capacity of its own, but more importantly, it added to the surface area that was performing convection cooling. So, yes, both together give a better result. -

Does anyone have any sleep issues with their macbook pro?
When mine goes to sleep and i can wake it up but if i leave it to go into a deeper sleep i can't wake it up. tried using the keypad, touchpad, power button (even reseting), all that happens is it switches on but the screen doesn't come on and the sleep light flashes. The only way i can get it on is if i remove the magsafe connctor and the battery, then reconnect the magsafe and press the powerbutton, it wakes up and loads up to where i previously left off, then i can reconnect my battery. anyone also experienceing a muffled moo noise from their superdrive (every couple of minutes even when there is no disk inside)?
I have the 2.0ghz version with the faster graphics card, 100gb (7200rpm drive), apples 1gb ram, crucial 1gb ram. I'm going to take it down to my local applestore this weekend but i don't want them to hold on to it for such a long time.I've had this same problem for a couple weeks now. At the Apple Store, they pulled my Crucial RAM and sent me packing. So, I gave the benefit of the doubt, returned the "bad stick" and got another. Same problem.
To be specific, mine would often restart instead of waking, or do nothing at all, forcing me to pop the battery out, or hold the power button to shut it off, then restart.
On my second trip to the store, today, they tried pulling the new Crucial RAM and replacing it with Apple RAM. That worked! So, they claim third party problems and I can't say they're wrong. However, it makes me wonder about proprietary settings in RAM, if that's even possible. I wonder if two sticks of Crucial RAM would work just fine? It's almost worth the try, as the cost is nearly half that of another 1GB of Apple RAM.
Not sure what I'm going to do as of today, might try another vendor for even less than Crucial to see if I have any luck, though I'm nervous to trust some other brand as though it might fix the sleep issue, it could be less reliable for more important usage. -

Still no fix for USB card sleep Issue
Hi I just bought a 3rd party USB 2.0 card (an IOGEAR GIC251U). When I plug my LaCie extrenal USB drive in it works fine, until the computer has been to sleep. When the computer wakes up the drive has disappeared and I get a message saying that the drive has been improperly disconnected and that I can damage it by not ejecting before disconnecting.
Looking at the posts on this forum, it seems that this PCI USB card sleep issue is a persistant problem. I have even heard buying a card described as a "crap shoot".
That is not an acceptable answer to me. I insist that Apple reccomend a USB 2.0 card that it is willing to garuntee will work with my mac (an AGP G4 blue and white tower). If not, how can Apple in good faith sell computers with PCI that isnt equipped to handle built in apple features such as the sleep mode? I don't mean to sound like a demanding jerk of a customer but I dont think it is too much to ask that my computers advertised features (PCI expandability and sleep mode) both be able to work together.

Apple cannot possibly determine compatability of all available 3rd party devices, it is up to the vendor to determine what systems/OS versions their hardware will support.
I would stick with a vendor that is known for Mac support, such as Sonnet (or others that are sold through Mac sites such as OWC, SmallDog,etc.,) unless you are willing to do significant research on a specific product for compatability with your specific setup prior to purchasing. -
I can connect to my Epson Stylus NX625 through my wireless network and print a page or two, but then the next time I go to print it says that the printer is not connected. Any fixes? I have tried deleting the printer and re-adding it to my MacBook Pro OS X version 10.9.4, but sometimes it doesn't even find it, and other times it says it is connected, but when I go to print it says not connected. Very frustrated. I have also installed the latest drivers, etc.
What now?Your computer is going to run hot while playing CPU/GPU intensive games - it should heat up and the fans should be noticably loud. As to why it's 'crashing' - can you post a kernel panic log? You may have some third-party kexts that are causing the problems.

How do I fix my Macbook Pro (2010)?
I have a 2010 Macbook Pro that I was getting ready to sell. My screen had the wobble and I went to fix it. For some reason, when I put it all back together... the Mac will not boot correctly.
1.) There is no display
2.) It boots once and makes a drive noise, clicks and sounds as though it fails, and then the fan kicks in and it will stay on.
3.) It will not eject the CD
4.) You can power it down by holding the power button
5.) Does not make sound either

How do I get my macbook to sleep?
I have a macbook pro 13" (late 2009) model with OSX Lion. I set the energy save preferences to go to sleep after 10 minutes when on battery power. But it doesn't go to sleep. The screen will go off, but the machine keeps running until the battery is all drained.
Also, I have it set to sleep after 15 minutes when connected to power adapter. The same thing. No matter when I set it to sleep or if I set a scheduled sleep, it will not go to sleep, often staying on all night.
The only way it will sleep is if I close the lid and disconnect from batter power. But I don't want to do this every time. I want to be able to walk away and trust that the machine will go to sleep as scheduled.
The recent software update does not correct the issue.Please read this whole message before doing anything.
This procedure is a diagnostic test. It won’t solve your problem. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
The purpose of this exercise is to determine whether the problem is caused by third-party system modifications that load automatically at startup or login. Boot in safe mode. First, disconnect all wired peripherals except keyboard, mouse, and monitor, if applicable. The instructions provided by Apple are as follows:
Be sure your Mac is shut down.
Press the power button.
Immediately after you hear the startup tone, hold the Shift key. The Shift key should be held as soon as possible after the startup tone, but not before the tone.
Release the Shift key when you see the gray Apple icon and the progress indicator (looks like a spinning gear).
During startup, you will see "Safe Boot" on the login screen, which appears even if you normally log in automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin.
Safe mode is slower than normal, and some things won’t work at all, including your login items.
Test. Same problem now?
After testing, reboot as usual (i.e., not in safe mode.) -
How do I fix my macbook pro from displaying the wrong dates across the entire system?
Hello, for a while now my MacBook Pro has started to display the dates across the whole system weidly. The dates can go above 300/MM/YYYY. Is it the PRAM battery that could have run out or is it something else? Here is an example that I took today in the Calander application. As you can see it displays the 17 May, 2013 as 137 May 2013.
If there is a solution for this i would really want to know because this is starting to anoy me a little.

My MacBook works fine wifi everywhere except for home. The home wifi is fine with the iPad and iPhone, so I assume the issue is with my computer. My computer works fine on wifi networks elsewhere. The only problem is at home.
The computer "connects to the wifi," but browsers and other internet-dependent software do not work. Curiously, if I connect the ethernet cord that doesn't work either. Usually if I reset the modem to factory settings twice (for some reason, once doesn't do the trick), my computer will fully connect to the wifi. However, in a few days, it goes back to not working.
Today, resetting the modem didn't work. I could only get wifi connection while in safe mode, but not in normal mode. So, the issue seems to be software not hardware. I have tried starting new accounts in normal mode, but those also don't connect properly to internet.
Not sure if this is relevant, but this problem started when my building switched internet providers from ComHem to Telia (I live in Sweden).
What do you recommend I do?

What you want to do is get it to work reliably over Ethernet first, then tackle wifi. Power off the modem. On your macbook, delete the Ethernet configuration and the Wifi configuration. Power up the modem, then connect the mac via Ethernet. Create the new Ethernet configuration and see if you can connect. -

How do I fix a MacBook Pro lag?
My MacBook is sometimes pretty laggy (if I see that rainbow circle one more time....). It randomly will lag just typing text into fields. It also majorly lags when opening any application (Microsoft Word, Adobe inDesign or Photoshop, etc.). I just verified my disk, and it even lagged for about 10 minutes before it caught back up with itself. Disk was fine, by the way.
I don't have a lot of applications open and I fully shut those down when I'm done with them. This is also a 13-inch Pro, early 2011 model. Plenty of storage left so that's not the issue. 2.7 GHz Intel Core i7, 4 GB 1333 MHz DDR3 memory, Intel HD Graphics 3000 384 MB.Here is that report for you:
