How do i fix my phone or at least save the data on it?
I stuck in a bad situation. My phone screen isnt turning on. My power button has been broken for months and my home button isnt working all of a sudden. When I plug the charger in the phone it makes the sound that an iphone usually makes when plugged into a charger but the screen wont turn on nothings working. I also cant back all my data up on my mac because i need the phone to be turned on to do that. how do i fix it i have very important info on my phone that i cant lose.Can i try taking the sim card out and putting it into a new phone? will that work? i have an iphone 4
Move all the content from the old computer or the backup of the old computer to the new computer.
iOS devices are NOT backup devices.

I have a 4S and just tried updating to the latest iOS version and my phone went into recovery mode and iTunes says I need to restore to factory settings. Anyone know how I can fix my phone without losing all my content?
You would only be able to restore to a backup to iCloud or iTunes:

Check the USB port and the USB cable for any kind of lint, debris or bent pins.
Try another, working USB cable.
If still no luck, get it checked by visiting an Authorized Apple Service Provider or contact Apple Support to get it serviced:

Did you already try to reset the iPod by holding the sleep and home button for about 10sec, until the Apple logo comes back again? You will not lose data.
If this does not work, try to reset the network settings in Settings/General/Reset. After that you'll have to put in the passwords for all known networks again.

It was working fine up until I upgraded the OS which I hadn't done in many versions so the ipad was not working as well as it should. Now it is searching for the network.

Did you haveany problem with updating to iOS 5? It soundsl like the update did not correctly restore from the backup that iTunes mnakes as the fisr step of the update.

Connect in recovery mode and restore, you'll get the option to reset the passcode during this process:
iOS: Unable to update or restore and iPhone and iPod touch: Wrong passcode results in red disabled screen
If you cannot remember the passcode, you will need to restore your device using the computer with which you last synced it. This allows you to reset your passcode and resync the data from the device (or restore from a backup). If you restore on a different computer that was never synced with the device, you will be able to unlock the device for use and remove the passcode, but your data will not be present. You can't. You need to contact the previous owner to get those log in details - this is the new activation lock and without it you will never be able to use that phone.
You might have to start from scratch again and buy a new phone.
