First, try a system reset. It cures many ills and it's quick, easy and harmless...
Hold down the on/off switch and the Home button simultaneously until the screen blacks out or you see the Apple logo. Ignore the "Slide to power off" text if it appears. You will not lose any apps, data, music, movies, settings, etc.
If the Reset doesn't work, try a Restore. Note that it's nowhere near as quick as a Reset. Connect via cable to the computer that you use for sync. From iTunes, select the iPad/iPod and then select the Summary tab. Follow directions for Restore and be sure to say "yes" to the backup. You will be warned that all data (apps, music, movies, etc.) will be erased but, as the Restore finishes, you will be asked if you wish the contents of the backup to be copied to the iPad/iPod. Again, say "yes."
Finally, if the Restore doesn't work, let the battery drain completely. Then recharge for at least an hour and Restore again.

Sound problem with my iPod touch! Need urgent help!

I have an iPod Touch 8gb 3rd gen (2nd gen) and have owned it for a couple years. Recently I've been noticing some sound problems when I listen to music with earbuds/headphones. One of the earbuds will lose sound and won't produce music but if I twist the input plug it produce little or full sound but if it moves out of a certain position it won't produce sound out of that bud. I'm using Skullcandy Ink'd earbuds so I thought maybe since they arn't great it might be a manufacturer defect but I used them with my iPod Nano 2gb 1st gen and I could hear out of both earbuds perfectly. I even plugged in my iPod Touch into a car adapter so I could listen to my music through the car stereo and it went in and out of sound so I realize now it is my iPod and not 3rd party equipment I've been using with it that is the problem. Since its the iPod what is the exact problem and how do I fix it? I really don't want to use my old iPod since it doesn't have enough storage for my music now and I'm already getting something else for Christmas that I've been wanting for a while. Please help!

If your car adapter works thru the headphone jack, the problem could just be dirt inside the jack.
Try just putting in and out the headphone plug a few times. You can also try cleaning the jack, just don't use anything wet. Cotton swabs are also not advisable as they might leave lint and make things worse.
To make sure it's not a oft ware issue, try to Reset your device.
Press and hold both the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears (ignore the Slide to Power Off that shows up first).

PLEASE HELP!!!!!!!...i tried everything so far except throwing the ipod at the wall!!...it started when i tried syncing my 64gb 3rd generation iTouch to my iTunes for windws. everything was fine until midway during the sync itsaid (error-54) then everyhing became unresponsive. I erased all content from the ipod, nothing worked. So i reset it, still nothing. ..then i deleted everything off om my computer (a Compaq Presario CQ 56 with windows 7) i had all content saved already on an external hardrive. i erased ALL photos, ALL music, etc...then i deleted iTunes+ restarted my computer+ ran my antivirus program to make sure my computer was not corrupted..everything's running properly...so i re-installed iTunes and added all the music again onto it, hooked up the newly reset ipod+ the same problem occurred again and AGAIN!! ...so i had to factory restore the ipod as a last ditch effort, tried again and STILL had this problem!!...i looked up any potential similar issues and found out about the "locked songs", but nothing said HOW to fix this problem with iTunes for WINDOWS!..im not on a mac so i cant use the same steps that they used.....SOMEBODY PLEASE HELP!!!!...i know the problem+ the solution now,but just not the correct steps to follow for MY situation!!!....anyone with the answer, please tell my how to do it STEP by STEP, i am good with computers, but get lost easily...need a simple solution!!!!

I got an update for my ipod touch and after updating a error occoured. So i clicked ok and it sayd i need to restore and update it. i got an ipod touch just from 3 days ,,
first day it worked just fine ... but in the secound day i don't know what happened to the ipod!
i can't hear any sound unless i put on the head phones :S i don't know why ,, i've tried everything!

How loud is the sound generated by the iPod Touch transducer?

My question is, at what distance from iPod Touch will I be able to hear the transducer sound for a calendar event?
Like many others, I would like to switch my calendar and addresses from a Palm PDA to an iPod Touch device.
I need an alarm sound for a calendar event to remind me that its 20 minutes before I need to leave the office to be on time for an off-site customer meeting.
I have used a Palm T5 PDA, which has a low, medium or high alarm sound settings. Even when the alarm sound is set to low, it can be easily heard by and annoy my neighbors in adjacent cubicals.
Is the iPod Touch sound loud enough to remind and get me to the meeting on time? head

Unfortunately there is currently no way of having an audible alert for a calender event.
The calender app however does allow a visual alert before the event.

since there is already audible alarms using the transducer, i'm sure it wouldn't be too difficult to add this feature to the calender app as well.
Regarding the volume of the transducer, it is generally loud enough to waken me in the mornings.

ok so my ipod went dead for a few days so i went to charge it and i got the symbol on the screen to connect it to itunes. i connected it and it said that i had to restore my ipod...so i clicked restore...it was almost finished restoring and it came up that error 9 occured.
is there anything i can do to fix my ipod or should i get a new one?
I have tried to do what the apple website tells me to but it doesnt work....

What can I do to fix a problem with my iPod touch opening apps, start to load and boot me back ur to home screen?

It is driving me insane!! I have deleted apps, tried restoring it(which helps for a little bit) but to be in the middle of doing something and have to start all over...gggrrrrr! Anyone have any solutions??

Is this only certain apps in particular or any of them? If it's all of your apps, try downloading and installing a free app from the App Store.
Otherwise, try a hard reset of the device to see if that helps. To do this, press and hold both the Sleep/Wake and Home buttons together long enough for the Apple logo to appear.

Have you recharge your iPod for at least 2 hours, preferably till the Full charge Battery symbol comes ON.?
