The wireless network button on my Acer Aspire 5532 has recently stopped working and I was wondering what the quickest solution was to fixing it was?

I am using an Airport Extreme for wireless and also have a Netgear VPN Switch (FV5318) for internal wired ethernet connections. How do I get the two networks to connect to each other?
Tesserax, I would like to keep the Airport Extreme in nplace before the Netgear FVS318 switch because I am using all of the 8 ethernet outputs distributed to 8 differerent locationsl This way I can just use one of the LAN outputs from the Airport to feed the FVS318. Here is what I think I am hearing you say:
Tne reason why the wired and wireless devices are not communicating is because the FVS318G is also a DHCP server and in conflict with the AEBS.
To remedy the situastion here is probably what I need to do in order:
1. Change the LAN IP Address of the Netgear FVS318G to be the same subnet of the Airport Extreme.
2. Then, disable the Netgear FVS318G as a DHCP server.
3. Make sure the ethernet cable from the LAN port of the Airport Extreme connectis to the LAN port of the Netgear FVS318G.
4. Restart everything.
Can you provide me the steps I need to take to get the right IP addresses from the Airport Extreme to put into the Netgear to fix the conflict? I have the Airport Utility. I also have two airport express hot spots, and two Apple TVs in addition to computers attached to the 8 ethernet lines.

How do I use a wired computer on the wireless network?
I want to hardwire my desktop to my wireless router. I have a wireless adapter and my computers work fine on the wireless network. If I try to plug in the ethernet cable to the router and disable the wireless adapter, it doesn't work. The light lights up on the front of the router saying that the ethernet cable is plugged in and the 1394 network connection is enabled in the "network connections." However, I cannot ping the router when using the ethernet. On the desktop computer, I look in "view workgroup computers" and there are no computers listed there. On the back of the computer, there is a light that lights up when I insert the cable, so I know the computer has detected there is a cable plugged in there.
They way I set up my wireless network is by using XP's tool under network tasks called "set up a wireless network for a home or small office" (which is found in "My Network Places." I don't know how to combine a wireless network with a wired network. Please help me.
I am using WRT54G. We don't have broadband installed yet.Correct…I would not mess w/ the bios. Do you have an extra cat5 cable long enough to plug into the back of your router to the back of your PC? Hopefully, it was not taken out when the wireless NIC was installed. Do you see a place to plug in the cable on the back of your PC? It looks like a phone connection jack/ modem, only bigger. If not, what kind of machine, OS (Win 2K, Win XP, etc).

How can I extend my wireless network with the Time Capsule?
I recently bought a Time Capsule and set it up, backed up all my data, etc. It is currently plugged in to my AT&T Uverse wireless router via a LAN CAT5e cable. I am wondering if it is possible to wirelessly extend my preexisting network with the Time Capsule so I can move it somewhere else in my house where it can still pick up the signal but extend it. And if possible, how so? Or does it ALWAYS have to be wired'connected to my router for the internet to work?

Sorry but no. Extending using only wireless would require that the Time Capsule connect to another Apple router that is producing the wireless network.
Another way of saying the same thing is that you must have two Apple routers to be able to extend the signal wirelessly. -

Do not follow the previous poster's advice, that option is a "last chance" option. OS X is stable and in most cases a reinstall is never needed. Follow the directions in Apple's letter. -

By default, the AirPort Express will broadcast an unsecure wireless network with a Network Name of something like: Apple Network NNNNNN. Your iPad should "see" this network and be able to connect to it. Have you tried going through the iPad's Settings > Wi-Fi > Choose a Network... option. If so, does the AirPort's wireless network appear in the list of available networks?
Can other wireless devices connect to the AirPort's network? -

I am hooked up to a wifi modem the ipad will not let me change passwords to hook to the new modem, I have hit the reset network button doesn't work i am at a lost right now..
Go into your settings and click on Wi-Fi then click on the blue arrow on the network you would like to change the password on, then when the screen changes click on the "Forget this Network" buttton at the top of the window.

I have an ipad first generation. I am trying to connect to a linksys router and the ipad is not finding the wireless network. What do I need to do? Thanks for your help.
Some things to try first:
1. Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord for 30 seconds or longer) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.
2. Go to Settings>Wi-Fi and turn Off. Then while at Settings>Wi-Fi, turn back On and chose a Network.

4. Go into your router security settings and change from WEP to WPA with AES.
5. Renew IP Address: (especially if you are droping internet connection)

• In the window that opens, tap on the Renew Lease button

I have Airport Extreme with 2 wireless networks, one for my iMac and my wife’s iPad another one is for kids PCs. All of us are connected only wireless.
Question, how shall I block the kids network my configuration, now when I block the Airport (Turn Off Airport) actually it’s only me who cannot use wireless network, all others still can do it. Purpose is to block the kids using the wireless network during the night. Now my solution is to pull out lan cable between Airport and ADSL modem.
I believe there must be smarter way to do it, I just don’t know how. Could you please help,

Your Extreme can set time restrictions on when specific computers can access the network. You can configure them using AirPort Utility:
Open AirPort Utility, select your Extreme in the sidebar, and press "Manual Setup." If you're asked for a password, enter it. Go to the "Access Control" tab and set "MAC Address Access Control" to "Timed Access."
Now you can set up the time restrictions.
To add a computer to the list, press the "+" button. You'll be presented with a dialog that will let you configure the time restrictions. You'll need to enter the device's MAC address. You'll also want to enter a description so that you'll know what device the restriction applies to.
You can double-click the "(default)" entry to set restrictions on computers not on your list. When you're finished, press "Update" and allow your Extreme to restart.
