How do I fix this audio?

I bought software called Vodburner that records Skype conversations. I tested it out a few times and it seemed to work fine, but this last recording had terrible audio on the recipient's side. Here's a clip:

So I'm using Adobe Premiere Pro 5.5 to edit and I don't know the 1st thing about audio but was looking for ways to improve this. Any suggestions? Appreciate the assistance.

Am I correct, that it is the first part of the Audio (the very quiet passage) that you wish to address?
If so, you can adjust the Volume for those passeges. This ARTICLE will give you some tips, as there are several ways, and several places that one can do this in PrPro.
For addressing things like "background noise," this ARTICLE might be useful, though uses Audition, or SoundBooth, or other audio-editing programs.

Right now I'm editing some work for a friend and the audio on all his footage is beyond horrible. Its too loud and all distorted. I've tried messing with all the audio filters I have from FCP Studio and I can't seem to make it decent. I know I cant get it perfect but when the audience starts to clap or laugh, it hurts my ears. You can't. Once the audio is distorted in a digital recording it's gone. There is no way to salvage the distortion. It's just clipped. You can reduce the level to make it less painful, but there is no way to recover the sound that has been clipped.

There is a little white bar. When you have your TV connected, move the white bar to the other display. Your main desktop is now the TV screen

If an app doesn't respond to your input, or doesn't perform as expected, do the following, testing after each step:

The audio on my iPhone 4s cut out randomly; I have to unplug and replug headphones to get it back. How can I fix this?

For the last year I have been unable to use my iPhone speakers because of some bug. I can play music and audio through headphones, but that's it. And just today even the headphones became spotty. I'll play a song (through iTunes) for a while, then the audio will just cut out. I can get it back by unplugging and replugging the headphones (sometimes multiple times) but that fix doesn't last long; usually within a few minutes (if not much sooner) the music cuts out again.

Thank you Russ! Seems as though the timestamp on my audio files was completely incorrect so it placed the files far away from the corresponding video. I've modified the timestamp information and this has helped. The hour/minute information is incorrect but at least now I'm in the ballpark. Thank you!

Is the problem Audio Track 2 music from any of your royalty free music websites? Is the sound missing in the export
standalone audio files
or
audio that is linked to video?
What is directly under or above these files on the Timeline?
Download and install the free codec utility named GSpot.
And, tell us the readouts for Audio name, codec, and status.

If also video component of the file, then please include the Video name, codec, and status information from the GSpot readout.
See what information you can put together on the properties of those royalty free audio files, including file extension. Are you dealing with Stereo or 5.1 channel (AAC or Dolby Digital)?
As for project preset, versions 11 and 12 were designed so that the project takes charge of setting the project settings based on the properties of
the first file drag to the Timeline. Sometimes it does it right. Sometimes not. If not, then you set the project preset manually using the properties of

Lots of additional questions...curious how you hear the Audio 2 audio in Edit area but not in the exported file which you report as
Publish+Share>Computer>MPEG under the preset "MPEG2 1920x1080i 30.
Any export setting customization going on under the Advanced Button/Video Tab and Audio Tab of that preset?

The voiceover audio is disappearing and being replaced by a warning sign and a loading sign. How do I fix this?

I recorded voiceover audio yesterday and started editing today. It was playing fine today, but about 20 minutes after I split the clip into two parts, it just shows a yellow ! warning sign and a loading sign. Yes. I can find no other solution than to delete the troublesome clip.
You may find other audio clips in your project that suddenly won't play either, until you delete the one with the yellow triangle.

iMovie works best with uncompressed audio. If your track is MP3 or AAC, you may get better results by converting your track to the AIFF format and then using that in iMovie.
You can do this in iTunes. Go to iTunes/Preferences and click the General button. On the General page, click the Import Settings button. Choose IMPORT USING: AIFF ENCODER.
(note: remember what you changed it from so you can change it back later, before you import another CD)
Now, in iTunes, select your track. Then click FILE/CREATE NEW VERSION/AIFF VERSION.
