How do i fix when it pops up as error -54?

i plug my iphone 5 in and my itunes will not sync with my phone. it has my music up but when i click on it, it skips over it. I look on the playlist and its dimmed with a red square on it. it is very annoying so if someone knows how to fix it, it would greatly appreciate it.

It means that iDVD has found a problem with one of the movies added to the project. Did you edit the movie after it had been added to the project.

When trying to launch iTunes, I am getting the message "You cant open application iTunes because it may be damaged or incomplete". Has anyone experienced this before and how did you fix it? I have been using Time Machine, and tried to restore my iTunes, but that does not seem to help.

To re-install iPhoto
1. Put the iPhoto.app in the trash (Drag it from your Applications Folder to the trash)
2. Download it from the App Store to reinstall It's on your Purchases List* there.
For older versions that have been installed from Disk you'll need these additional steps:
2a: On 10.5: Go to HD/Library/Receipts and remove any pkg file there with iPhoto in the name.
2b: On 10.6: Those receipts may be found as follows: In the Finder use the Go menu and select Go To Folder. In the resulting window type
/var/db/receipts/
2c: on 10.7 or later they're at
/private/var/db/receipts
A Finder Window will open at that location and you can remove the iPhoto pkg files.
3. Re-install.
If you purchased an iLife Disk, then iPhoto is on it.
If iPhoto was installed on your Mac when you go it then it’s on the System Restore disks that came with your Mac. Insert the first one and opt to ‘Install Bundled Applications Only.
*Sometimes iPhoto is not visible on the Purchases List. it may be hidden. See this article for details on how to unhide it.

Wow that was really quick, thank you so much. Im not sure at all which version it was because i said it was around 4 years ago he bought it. I know it isn't under his username, since he's a PC person (ugh) so i know its probably registered to one of our actual names. isn't there some way to look it up since we did register it, because I'm not even sure where the disks are from when we bought it (we've moved a lot and also have two storage lockers, i know i would have kept it with other disks) but my cd rom drive is actually broken on my computer as well ( i think it got stepped on and is now squished and won't eject or run disks.)
So is there anyway they can look up that its registered to one of our names since we did register it when we bought and installed it, or do i really have to find the disk with some sort of proof of purchase (i know there would be no receipt after all this time)

     I don't remember deactivating (after my XP PRO harddrive scattered)
when I did the first Windows 7 pro install of these programs and it went
fairly well except AA8 was a little problematic when converting from MS
Word.
     In my case the AA8 came with a Studio 8 suite of programs as follows:
     1) A Studio 8 installation disk
     2) A Creative Suite CS2 Premium set of installation disks.
     3) A Creative Suite 2.3 Premium upgrade disk with AA8
     I uninstalled AA8 and when I tried reinstallation the directions
said to do the Creative Suite CS2 Premium set of installation disks
first followed by the Creative Suite 2.3 Premium upgrade disk with AA8.
Now I'm stuck; What a mess.

How do I fix "kernel[0]: disk3s2: I/O error" message?

For the last couple of weeks, I have seen the spinning wheel show up on virtually any task I try to accomplished, especially when using Safari. At times the delay is just a few seconds and other times a delay for up to 20-30 seconds.
At first I thought it was Safari so I reinstalled the latest update. Went to Time Machine and brought back any programs that I had recently updated for downloaded and still no change.
I went to Activity Monitor and did not see anything unusual. then went to Console where I get the following error message on virtually any task I key in "kernel[0]: disk3s2: I/O error." i have Verified my drives and have repaired disk permissions. Still the problem persists.
What causes this error message and how do I fix the problem?

Any time you think it is safari, and that is one program where manually emptying the temp files and caches doesn't happen on its own automatically, you really need to do it yourself, or rely and hope on the "Reset" feature.
Anytime a program is updated, good idea to clean the temp caches anyway as they may cause trouble.
Check home library /Caches/MetaData and empty the contents, and the icon cache as well. When Safari launches, it copies the bookmarks into a cache folder as well so there are 100s or whatever files there.
Don't rely on Apple First Aid, and not with a maxed out system. Disk Warrior is reliable and finds more. Trouble is unlike TechTool Pro it is one at a time, and mostly one trick only, so it can be slow and can't do much to speed it up.
There are nice FAQs on preventing and troubleshooting kernel panics if you look and want to go that route.

When I type about:blank in the url box, nothing happens. The address line just goes back to "Go to a website".

Showing a placeholder text is the default behavior of the location bar when no page is loaded and about:blank is not a real page (you do not see it listed on the about:about page), so this is expected behavior.<br />
If it only a problem when the browsing window isn't empty.

      I upgraded to OS X Mountain Lion and installed the OS X Server. The Wiki pane has the error message "Error Reading Settings". The Websites pane looks fine, but when I click on "View Server Website", I get the webpage that simply says "Server Error". (I am wondering if these are interrelated, which is why I put them in the same discussion.) I will note that the admin tools must have changed since trying to follow the discussions for previous versions of the Server leads to paths that are not present. Any suggestions on what to try would be most appreciated. Many thanks!

Hello. Unfortunately, serveradmin is indeed one of those paths/tools that are no longer present in the new version of OS X Server. Either that, or it is renamed to something new that I am not aware of. However, doing a ps -A | grep -i postgres, I get the below. I am not sure if this really means postgres is running or not. Looking in system.log file, I am noticing a weird error (attached). Any thoughts on this would be most appreciated. Many thanks!
