How do I fix wrong artwork?

I have an iPhone with about 1,000 songs, a lot of them are singles and not part of any special album. I spent weeks adding artwork to all of them so when I held the phone upright (portrait orientation), when a song played it always showed the right artwork.
Normally when using the iPhone in iPod Touch mode I hold it vertically in what I call Portrait position. I noticed that when I turned the phone sideways - landscape view - that songs not part of an album did not always show the artwork for that song, or just showed a blank grey screen. One day I decided to go through those songs in the album view in iTunes and add artwork to the ones which had no artwork.
Since then almost all my song artwork has gone down the toilet. In portrait view a certain song will play but shows the wrong artwork. If I check the GET INFO feilds in iTunes the right artwork is there but it won't show in the portrait orientation.
BUT, if I turn the phone to landscape view I see the album covers rotate until the right artwork shows. Have I ruined all my hard work or can I undo whatever I did? I am not fussed about the album view, would much prefer to use the phone in portrait view and see the correct artwork which is still in the data field but just not showing.
I am using latest iTunes with Windows xp, on a 1st generation iPhone. NOTE, the program did not give me the choice of listing my hardware as a 1st gen IPhone so I listed it as an ipod touch, the closest option.

Howdy Kathleen,
It sounds like your iPhone is syncing to your library, but seems to be getting stuck on the last step. I would use the troubleshooting in the following article to help you resolve that issue, named:
iTunes: Resolve USB-related alerts
See if the cable connection at the device or computer has come loose or unplugged.
Unplug the cable you're using to connect your iOS device from the USB port on your computer, and then reconnect it. Then unplug it from your iOS device, and reconnect it.
Remove any third-party battery packs or cases from the device and ensure that the USB cable is connected directly to the port on the device.
If your Lightning or 30-pin cable is connected to a keyboard, display or USB hub, try plugging it directly into a USB port on the computer instead. 
Close any virtualization apps (such as Parallels or VMWare).
These apps may interfere with your computer's ability to communicate over USB if they aren't properly configured, or up to date. If this resolves the issue, contact the developer of the app to see if an update is available.
Restart your computer.
Restart your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch.
If you're using an accessory or third-party cable to connect your device, try using an Apple cable with the device instead.
Update to the latest version of iTunes if you haven't already.
Disconnect other USB devices from your computer, except for your keyboard and mouse. Then, reconnect your iOS device. If the issue is resolved, reconnect the other USB devices one at a time. Make sure your iOS device is still recognized by the computer after adding back each device. 
If one of these steps resolves the issue, but it comes back later, make sure you haven't changed how the device is connected. For example, check to see if you plugged the device into a specific accessory, or used a specific cable that reintroduced the issue.

    I am downloading artwork for a 24000+ library and as I look through, I notice a lot of mistakes, particularly, but not exclusively, on compilations. One thing that happens is that on a given compilation it will download the artwork from the artist album correspnding to the first artist on the compilation and then use that for all the songs.

    I just posted a solution for changing the artwork on multiple songs, basically you can create a playlist for the songs that are wrong and past artwork over the incorrect art.
    But on the subject of songs that have multiple artists but are on the same album, I have noticed through trial and error of course, that the "Album Artist" field in the info for each song is for just that issue. That field needs to say the name of the artist who's album it is so that the correct art will be shown for that song. In most cases when all the "Album Artist" fields are the same the songs will display the correct art and act properly.

Use 2 stations to uprezz by duplicating project and doing half tapes on one station, half on the other. Then choose one project as the master project and reconnect the tapes captured on the other station to the master project.
    The problem: The tapes that have to be reconnected in the master project come out with square pixels flagged when you look at their format information. The pixels should be HD (1280x1080). In FCP this doesn't seem to matter - it comes out looking fine. However, when we export an XML and take it into Color, the clips with square pixels come out squished, with geometry settings applied. We can fix this by resetting the geometry. However, when we render these projects out and bring them back into FCP the square pixel clips render the interlacing wrong - they kind of bake both fields into one, creating a strange 'ghosting' effect on footage with a lot of motion in it.
    There is a workaround fix - we can change the pixel aspect in FCP before making the XML. This fixes the problem. However in a show that contains over a thousand clips this is laborious - each clip has to be done individually. And if we do two or three shows a week.....that is a lot of wasted time.
    Has anyone experienced this? Got a good solution? How can we get Apple to fix their broken software?

    Two things:
    1. Color doesn't know how to properly display DVCProHD (or any anamorphic footage), so it looks wrong while working. Believe it or not, this is normal (for Color). Try setting the sequence in FCP to anamorphic and see what that does for your Send to Color.
    2. The Geometry room is broken with interlaced material. The moment you touch the Geometry Room in any way, Color field-blends the footage upon render. Even after you reset the Geometry Room. Once the footage has been user-altered in that Room, the footage is forever toast and will only render out properly if starting from scratch in a new project. It's a major bug.

    Reasons for using FCP 5.1.4 and Color 1.0.1 are a bit involved, but basically to do with the compatibility of our version of XSAN with later versions of OSX. Until we upgrade the XSAN we cannot go to the most recent versions of OSX, which are required by the most recent versions of FCP. We do not want to go to FCP 6 until we can go to FCP 6.0.4, which has fixed certain problems with the media manager in earlier versions of FCP. In order to upgrade the XSAN I have been told we need to upgrade hardware switchers - not just software....
    Prior to using Color we used Final Touch HD, so Color is effectively the more recent version of Final Touch for us.

    Going to have to go to each album seperately and click "get album artwork" or import the album covers yourself.

    After my sister playing with thee ipad, its colors bcame messed up. Everything that is normally black, is now some sort of red.     In my own ipad everything that is black is now green and everything that should be white now has this purplish hue that is moving in streams.

    i have a bunch of songs that either have the wrong album artwork or none at all.  the weirdest thing is that some of the albums are SOLD on iTunes. in fact, if i highlight one of my songs in iTunes, Ping sees it and shows me the correct cover art. BUT when i click "get album artwork", it tells me it cannot find the artwork. i've tried matching the text (song title, album title, artist, genre) exactly as it is in iTunes, but that doesn't help. it is doing this for about 60 of my albums and i don't know how to fix it. how can i get it to find the artwork?
    also... when iTunes finds the WRONG artwork, how can i direct it to the correct one?

    Albums, artists and complications must match precisely for iTunes to get a hit.  If you have a compilation, chances are you have a 'various artists' for an album artists ... there is a bit of a science to it.  I've managed to get most of my 'picky ones' to match.  But I have some that just won't - for whatever reason.

    I tried this and still have the same problems. If I open Address book or the Mac App Store I get the library rebuild popup and a hang. I created a fresh user and then things are better apart from the printing issue. Its clearly some 3rd party software issue but the crash logs are meningless to me. I used the excellent Etre check app from http://www.etresoft.com/etrecheck so I have a list of what is being loaded and can compare clean and crashed user info but as I cant work out which of the startup items, launch agents, launch daemons etc that  are causing the problem.
    I have eliminated Dropbox, Mac Keeper and Witness, and it isnt related to my exterrnal LED cinema dispay or my external thunderbolt drives, or any USB devices if thats any help to anyone else. Info from Etrecheck follows -

It looked in Mail, which had 5 email accounts set up in it, and for some reason picked the only one that I no longer use because it is for a school that I no longer attend. How can I fix it so that it syncs with the correct email account for notes and calendar? There don't seem to be any settings available other than to check if you want to use the basic features. It also said during the set up that it was setting up 'find my mac' but if I look on the iCloud website there is nothing showing there for finding my mac.
    At this point I feel like I wasted my money paying for this supposed upgrade. I got nothing for it but frustration. It even automatically set my security settings to allow only downloads from the Mac store so the first time I went to download something I had to stop what I was doing and go correct settings first. I feel like there should be a security setting to block downloads from the Mac store so I don't accidentally end up clicking the wrong thing and being charged.

    iCloud isn't syncing them on your phone.  You simply added the email account to your phone and enabled calendar and notes syncing with the email provider, and the calendar and notes appear in the calendar and notes apps on your phone.  You can do this with Gmail, Yahoo and other IMAP account.  iCloud email is just another IMAP account, but syncs notes with Apple's iCloud server just as Gmail syncs notes and calendars with Google's server.
    iCloud didnt' set up a non-iCloud account on your Mac.  When you check Mail in System Preferences>iCloud, it only creates an iCloud email account.  You can also add other email accounts to your Mac by going to System Preferences>Mail,Contacts,Calendars and clicking on the "+" sign on the bottom of the left sidebar.  If you added these other email accounts to your Mac before you upgraded to Mountain Lion, these were simply maintained on your Mac after you upgraded.

    First try a Reset  ( No Data will be Lost )
    Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button at the same time for at least Ten seconds... (But can take Longer)... until the Apple logo appears. Release the Buttons
    If no joy... Try a Restore...
    1: Connect the device to Your computer and open iTunes.
    2: If the device appears in iTunes, select and click Restore on the Summary pane.

    3: If the device doesn't appear in iTunes, try using the Steps in this article to force the device into Recovery Mode.
