How do I flip a photo horizontally or vertically in iPhoto?

How do I flip a photo horizontally or vertically in iPhoto. I can rotate but can't figure out how to flip them.
Thanks

You will have to use another application. Preview will do it. Set up iPHoto to use Preview as the editor of choice. Then double click on the thumbnail to open it in Preview, flip the image and save.
Using 2 Image Editors in iPhoto
If you want to use both iPhoto's editing mode and a 3rd party editor without having to go back and forth to the Preference pane, once you've selected the 3rd party editor as your editor of choice, reset the Preferences back to "Open in main window". Then when you Control-click on an image, you can select "Edit in external editor" in the Contextual menu to edit in your selected editor.

You can't with iPhoto.  You will need to do it with Preview (as an external editor) or with a 3rd party editor link one of these:

How do I import my photos from my iPhone to iPhoto, when I press import I just get a message saying there is something wrong with one of my photos and disconnects my iPhone.

I couldn't find Image Capture at my first try, butI will try again. Do you inow how I can find the corrupted photo on my iPhone? Im a bit lost..
Sorry, I just noticed, I made a mistake. "Image Capture" is in the Applications folder, not Utilities. And it may have a different name on your Mac, if your system language is not English:  Look for the icon with the camera:
When Image Capture can import from your iPhone, spilt the folder with the imported photos in several small subfolders and try to import them separately to iPhoto. This way, you can identify a subset of photos with the corrupted one.
Then try to import from that small subset one by one, until you hit the culprit. And then delete that photo or video from the phone.

  • How would you flip an ImageView along its vertical axis?

    Hello,
How would you flip an ImageView along its vertical axis? This would help me reduce the number of image files I would require in my project.
    thanks
    jose

Rotation about x_axis should works (javafx 2.2):
    Translate flipTranslation = new Translate(0,imageView.getImage().getHeight());
    Rotate flipRotation = new Rotate(180,Rotate.X_AXIS);
    imageView.getTransforms().addAll(flipTranslation,flipRotation);Regards.

  • How do I find my photos that are stored in iphoto on my mac?

How do I find my photos that are stored in iphoto on my mac?  I don't want to access them through iphoto, I want to access them individually.  I have always done it previously through searching for the img number.  But it no longer works!

That's half-correct. Direct access is supported.
Find the photo in iPhoto, then go to the "File" menu and click "Reveal in Finder" - it takes you directly to the image file. Or right-click on the photo, and choose "Edit in External Editor" which opens the original file in other software, like Photoshop, if you have it.
And it's dangerous to move, rename or delete the original file or folders after you found it, but safe to do other things.

  • How can I view my photos in "Events" like in iPhoto? How can I create events?  I have 55,000 photos and 1700 events so the only way I can possibly manage my photos is using events that are one slide in size.

I have 55,000 images organized into about 1700 events. The only reasonable way to view my library is using events in iPhoto where each event has one image That still leaves 1700 images to sort through but that is a lot easier than 55,000 images.  In the side bar is a folder with "iPhoto Events" but those views still show all of the slides.  How can I create events and view my photos as events as in iPhoto?  Events are critical for large libraries and has been my primary way to sort images.
    Thanks!

I had a problem a couple of months ago when iPhotos suddenly rearranged the order of my Events (Why won't iPhoto let me arrange my photos?) .  I was told "Use albums not events - events are not a good way to organize - albums and folder are designed for organisation and are very flexible".
Haha!  I should have paid attention and read between the lines!  My iPhotos were highly organised groupings - not according to date but the way I wanted them - and it was so easy to do!  I see now that if I had them all in albums, as per the Apple Apologist suggestion, I wouldn't have this unholy mess I have been left with just to make iPhone & iCloud users happy.  I am now going through Photos and making Albums (of what used to be in my Events)  ... maybe I'll get this finished before they do another non user friendly update!

  • How do I place a photo in Illustrator from my iPhoto Library?

I am a graphic designer and I use Illustrator and Photoshop a lot. I don't use iPhoto for most of my photo editing but rather for the organizing it does with my photos in regard to me viewing them.
Since updating to iPhoto 08 the other day I am unable to get into my photos folder and place a photo in Illustrator or open a photo from Photoshop. (I have now figured out how to use Photoshop to edit...so that is not my real issue) Because of this new design to keep people out of the folder so they don't corrupt them, it also seems to keep me out from even placing a photo.
Other than physically making a copy of it and placing it into another folder how can I access these photos? I have tried dragging and dropping the photo from iPhoto to my Illustrator page, I get this message +"QuickTime™ and a TIFF (Uncompressed) decompressor are needed to see this picture."+
I can do a work around for Photoshop but what about Illustrator? Why can I not just place my photo?
I am sorry if this question is redundant to others being asked in regards to the "no easy access" to the main iPhoto Library but I didn't see any questions specifically asking about Illustrator.
    Thanks.

    Two things
1- When you go to Leopard the access is very easy and more direct
2 - for me I love the fact that I do NOT have to worry about having the latest version of the photo like I used to - now I export the photo (at worst - under Leopard I normally directly access the latest version) and know that it is the current version rather than looking at the original folder and the modified folder trying to remember the photo name (which makes exporting, using and deleting my preferred work flow under Tiger)

  • How do i transfer individual photos or albums from my iPhoto to my iPhone?

I have photos that I imported to iPhoto and tinkered with them on there. Now I want to put them onto my iPhone 5s to ultimately post them to Instagram. However, when I go into iTunes and attempt to sync the photos from that it just says that my photos can be downloaded via Wi-Fi or a mobile network via iCloud. Well I can't as I cannot see a way to do it. There is no photo stream option and no other apparent way to do it.  How do I do this?

If you have not enabled the iCloud Photo Library (beta) on your iPhone you can add them to My Photo Stream from iPhoto on your Mac and then save them to your iPhone's Camera Roll from the My Photo Stream album on your iPhone.

  • HT4890 How can I publish my photos which are stored on iPhoto or on iCloud Photo Stream from Web?

Before I could publish my photos with Mobile Me from iPhoto but how can I do it with iCloud?

    Welcome to the Apple community.
Unfortunately, that is not possible from a Mac as yet. You can do this from the iPhoto app on an iOS device though and publish your photos to a photo journal. Hopefully this feature will be coming to iPhoto on the Mac at some point.

  • HT204655 How to have a unified Photos Library after migrated from iPhoto and Aperture?

The "HT204655: Get started with Photos for OS X" do not help. If you have previously used iPhoto and Aperture, when you "migrate" the iPhoto, then follow the steps to "migrate" the Aperture library, you end up with 5 files in your Pictures folder: Photos Library (from iPhoto), Photos Library 2(from Aperture), iPhoto Library (Not sure if can be deleted or not - of course no), Aperture Library (for some reason blank), Aperture Library 2 (Created by Photos?).
So, looks like a mess and no easy way to make a clean migration.
I've a hope that exists a solution to have a single Photos Library with the merged iPhoto and Aperture contents, like a real migration.
If I export everything (From iPhoto and Aperture) then import in the Photos in a single Library should work, but will lose all the organization, faces, etc...

You could merge libraries with iPhoto Library Manager, but I never tried this for merging Aperture 3 libraries with iPhoto 8.
Are you planning to keep all your photos in iCloud? Then consider to merge them in iCloud, but it will take a long time.
Are you using iCloud Photo Library (Beta) and have enough iCloud storage for the merged library?
Wait, till your current Photos Library has been completely uploaded to iCloud.
Then quit Photos, and launch it again, while holding down the alt/options key. Select the old iPhoto lIbrary.
When the upgrade of the old library has been finished, make this library the System Photos library (in the Photos Preferences > General).
Enable again iCloud Photo Library (Beta) in the Photos > iCloud preferences.
Now Photos will upload the new library to iCloud as well and create a merged library in iCloud. After this merged library synced with your Mac, you will have a merged Photos library.

  • How do you flip a picture horizontally?

I took a picture on Photo Booth and the text on my t-shirt doesn't reads because the image is mirrored. I need to flip it horizontally but I have been unable to find a feature in preview.
This is mindblowing, MS Paint had this feature and it was insanely easy to find on it.
Any ways to do this on OS X?

OMG dude, I had to call a friend of mine that has been using Macs for years (and who tudies graphic design) so he explained to me.. and now I got it, I didn't even realized that the bar on the top of the screen changes depending of what program or app you open! hahahahaha
I'm sorry, I just switched to Mac 2 months ago and I still try to think in a "MicroSoft Windows" way u_u
Thanks for the help, I gave you this "this solved my question"

  • How to mirror/flip a photo? (were scanned from slides wrong way round)

How to horizontal flip a picture? Some 50 slides were scanned from dias and were scanned wrong way up. so now my pictures are lef-right mirrored.
    Thanks, Mark

That is not a feature of iPhoto - suggest to Apple - iPhoto Menu ==> provide iPhoto feedback.
You can do it in preview (in your applications folder) before you import the scans, by exporting the scans or by setting Preview as the external editor for iPhoto
