How do I force a manual sync for my iPod touch w/iTunes v.11.0.1.2?

After the upgrade to iTunes 11.0.1.2 I am unable to find a way to force a manual sync for my iPod Touch. Also, some of the podcasts seem not to go into the proper folders, they wind up in an "unkown album" folder after downloading. Is there a way to fix this or even manually move them into the proper folders(albums)?

If you have iTunes 11 turn on the Sidebar. Go to iTunes>View and click on Show Sidebar. You can also do a Crtl+S to show the sidebar and Control+B to show the Menu bar
To sync to your iPod go to iTunes>Help>iTunes Help>Sync your iPod....>Sync You Device>Set up Syncing>Sync your device manually and follow the instructions.

Manual download for purchased ipod touch firmware update?

I'm in the Army National Guard, and I deployed a couple of months ago. My internet connection is extremely slow, and typically cuts out for at least a few minutes every hour. I purchased a firmware update for my ipod touch, but the update times out every single time I attempt to download it within iTunes.
Is there any way to get a link to manually download the update? I have a download manager on my computer that can handle the slow link and frequent loss of internet.

Thanks for the response. I now have a slightly more serious problem, though, which I doubt can be helped, but I figure I may as well ask anyway. Here goes:
I was looking for a program to extract my music off the ipod to make a backup as you suggest. (Back before I had an iPod touch, I used yamipod, but that doesn't have touch / iPhone support.)
One that looked promising was called Sharepod, so I downloaded it, and launched it. It told me that I shouldn't run both iTunes and sharepod simultaneously, so I closed iTunes. Then it told me that it didn't detect any iPod, so I should re-open iTunes with the iPod connected, then restart Sharepod.
When I opened iTunes back up, it told me that it couldn't read the data on the iPod, and that I should do a factory reset to fix the problem. (This of course will erase the data.)
So now I'm pretty much stuck. I can't get iTunes to read my iPod, and as long as it can't, neither can sharepod. The only way I can get iTunes to see the iPod is to wipe the data, which is what I downloaded sharepod to prevent in the first place. In the meantime, the iPod works just fine, I just can't sync/update it until I wipe it, which I would like to avoid. Do you know of any way I could possibly fix this error without losing my data? I've rebooted both the iPod and the computer, and even re-installed iTunes, but no luck.
Any help is much appreciated.

I want to sync a second ipod touch to itunes, however my daughter has some how registered the new ipod under my sons old one, she has deleted asll content and i have now reset it, how do i stop it being recognised as the old one

Does both your Windows and Macbook iTunes have the same library of songs?
if it does then, much easier to proceed, else try to load the Macbook with the same library as Windows.
Note that only one of the Macbook USB port is good for iPod Classic, the other is too slow and may cause timeout, and I would suggest disconnect all other USB devices, while you Restore or Sync the iPod Classic.
Connect the iPod to the Mac, (if iTunes launch, please close it back.)
Use Disk Utility -> select the iPod Device->First Aid->Repair (use option FAT32)
After the Repair complete, eject the iPod.
Connect back to the Mac
When iTunes launch, Restore the iPod when Prompted, (use FAT32)
Sync your library.

Really? This is noting new or unusual at all.
The older hardware in computers/ipods/iphones/televisions/dvd players/cars/etc does not support any and all new software that ever comes out.
Your ipod touch operates as it always has - with several updates from the original software. However, the newest software is not available for the 2nd gen.

Note that % battery on an iPod is not accurate. you will see large fluctuation in % battery and that is normal/expected.

How do you enable in-app purchases for the iPod Touch?

I have apps like Puzzle Quest and Arena 9 on my iPod that have content I can buy from within the app, but whenever I try to purchase the said content, my iPod keeps saying "In-app purchases are currently disabled". I tried to find it in setting or on iTunes but I can't find a way to enable them.

I have enough money on my account to purchase the content.
If ever I should have to deauthorize and reauthorize my iPod to fix this, doesn't that mean all my app data will be deleted? (e.g. game progress, files saved on my apps, etc)

First, what version of iOS do you have on your iPod touch? You need iOS 3 or iOS 4 for in-app purchases to be available.
If you have an appropriate version of iOS, go to Settings -> General -> Restrictions. If you can't get it, Restrictions are enabled and In-App Purchases may be set to "Off". You'll need the passcode set by whoever turned on the Restrictions to verify and if necessary change the setting.

To all those having issues syncing their new iPod touch to iTunes:

Do me a favor and try downloading doubletwist from www.doubletwist.com. I was having issues with itunes telling me it couldn't sync music/videos/photos (but it could apps) with my new 32 GB ipod touch 3rd gen so I shipped it back to Amazon earlier this week.
Most other itune replacement software didn't support the new OS 3.0 and I didn't know how long they would take. I just got an update from doubletwist they now support the latest touch and iphones. I obviously can't try it out.
But if several people try this (make sure to check for latest version), and it allows them to transfer music/videos while Apple have their collective heads up their *****, I will reconsider purchasing it again. I love my new HTC Hero, but it just doesn't cut it as a replacement.

Slowed my computer down to unusability, missing (or hidden so I couldn't find them) things I consider key features (tag editing, smart playlists, podcasts). Doesn't appear to do anything I can't already do with iTunes. The Amazon Downloader already adds any of my purchases to my iTunes library.
Oh, and it never recognized my Touch (3.1.2) so I don't know how it would have worked. Would it have synced? Or would I have been stuck with tediously dragging and dropping things?
Given what it did to my computer, I'm unlikely to spend much time trying to get it to work. Perhaps it works better on a Windows box but I don't think I want to subject my low horsepower netbook to it.

Even though the diagnostics aren't showing errors for it, I think it's probably still worth checking on your USB drivers, as per the following document:

What is synced from my iPod touch to iTunes when I transfer purchases?

I clicked to go ahead with updating software for iPod Touch (4th gen), but got a warning that I should first transfer all purchased items from iPod to iTunes Library. I don't know that much about iPod, so I would appreciate an answer: what does this mean? I see that when I look at the iPod part of iTunes sidebar there is a category called "Purchased," and in it are various items, all of them PDFs I think, that were not purchased but just saved attachments from emails, which show up in the iBooks app. However I have purchased a few apps for the iTouch. Will I lose my PDFs if I don't drag them into somewhere in the upper Library section of the iTunes window? But where, then? The categories are only Music, Movies, TV Shows, Podcasts, Apps and Radio. These files are none of the above.
(My actual, real purchases-- i.e., a few apps, are already in iTunes' Library>Apps section so I assume these are not the purchases referred to in the download warning.)

Cannot sync apps to ipod touch from itunes

Before I purchased my used Ipod touch 2g or 3g online I downloaded Itunes onto my laptop and also download some free apps. However, once I received the used ipod which had some apps and music already installed on it. I cannot sync (transfer) the free apps from my computer to ipod. When I click on application at the top tab all apps on ipod shows but I cannot do anything with them. When I tried transfer purchased from ipod touch to computer a message pops up saying I do not have authorization, yet I authorize my computer. Any help will do!

you can only use apps with one account. If apps where bought using a different account, they will not transfer to your computer using your account.
