How do I FTP in iWeb to put my website on tumblr?

I use iWeb and had my site set up through MobileMe, now I trying to publish my site to tumblr with my personal domain name. Does anyone know how I go about using FTP to send my site to tumble? I already have the domain name set up over there, I just don't know where to find the info I need to send it to tumblr?

I thought Tumblr was an online site creator - not for publishing websites you create yourself?

You might want to check out third party hosts like Machighway or Hostexcellence or others who offer low cost website hosting. They will give you the info you need to plug into iWeb's ftp page to upload the site. they cost less than mobileme and offer more.

You'll have to describe in detail the workflow you're using to upload to Machighway and any messages/warnings that you get along the way. Also what version of iWeb are you using and are you publishing just one of your sites?

It's impossible to do with iWeb.
If anyone says otherwise and suggests something like 'use a Flash player - more info on my ad-filled website' they simply don't know any better.
Just remember that whatever you upload to a website can be downloaded by others. The best deterrent is to only play a small portion of the music file and if you want to sell the song then provide the option for the user to purchase the full version. To enable download purchases and assure that the method can not be circumvented requires some rather involved server side scripting. The typical iWeb user that possesses little-to-no knowledge of web coding may find the limited and costly alternative of using a third party service their best method of delivery.

My ISP is telling me that iWeb is putting my files in the wrong folder?

First time trying to publish a website! I am trying to upload my iWeb site files via FTP from a folder that was created by iWeb. My ISP is telling me that the files are being uploaded, but to a sun folder that is not the root directory. They have pushed me back to Apple to resolve. Any help would be apprecited.

I not sure I understand your problem.
Are you using the "Publish to a Folder…" command to publish into a site that you connected to with the Finder opening a FTP site?
I assume the server in question is a Sun server.
Until I get the answer to my question, let me point out a one thing that could be your problem.
When iWeb publishes a site, it places into a folder (directory) named to match the name of the web site in iWeb. I referring to the first name in the left column. It defaults to "Site". But, iWeb does put an index.html file in the same folder, which should point web browsers directly into your web site.
You can remove the contents of the folder and pull it up to the same level with any problem. So, everything in the "Site" folder would be placed at the same level as the "Site" folder.
By the way, there is a reason for iWeb publishing into a subfolder, because can have multiple web sites in one file. Each site has its own folder.

How do I remove my iWeb pages from the Home folder so I can publish to a new host?

I have moved my MobileMe site to a new service (GoDaddy). The basic transfer went very smoothly. With one tiny hitch: the new URL text.
IWeb places web pages in folders, each folder being a "site." The name of the root folder automatically becomes a "pointer" to the web site -- and part of the URL text.
My current root folder is named DavidChartrand -- me. So..... when I published everything over to GoDaddy the text "DavidChartrand" was attached to my URL.
Instead of seeing www.davidchartrand.com in the URL bar, visitors see: www.davidchartrand.com.com/DavidChartrand
GoDaddy staff says this is simply a quirk in iWeb's design. Fine, but it's annoying. Is there anyway I can keep using iWeb but somehow remove the root folder.....that is, remove my site pages from the root folder and and then re-publish? GoDaddy tech support swears it has many former MobileMe/iWeb users who have done this successfully but offered had no idea how.

The way iWeb publishes its websites, in its own folder, the normal URL is http://www.domain_name.com/Site_name/Page_name.html. This is a normal URL for any web host.
If you want to get rid of the site name you will need to publish your website to a folder on your hard drive and upload only the contents of the website folder to your server with a 3rd party FTP client like YummyLite, Transmit or Cyberduck. That will get rid of the site name in the URL.
Of course remove the existing website foldr from the server beforehand.
I believe the folder you publish to on GoDaddy is named public_html. You might try renaming your website to "public_html" and publish to GoDaddy. In theory iWeb will see the website's folder already on the server and publish the website file into it.
It works that way with HostExcellence.com which names the home folder the same as the domain name associated with it. This tutorial explains more about it: iW16 - Using HostExcellence.com with iWeb

I don't want page names across the top in iWeb. I have a list of hyperlinked icons on the side for that.

The script is for the text in the browser title bar.
The title is taken from the large textbox at the top of each webpage.
If that box is missing or empty, iWeb uses a next textbox for the title.
If that is missing too, the pagename is used for the title.
If you want the title in the titlebar but not the large textbox on your page, select the textbox, do Cm-T and drag the font-size slider to the bottom.
Then click the color next to the T-icon and drag that opacity slider to the left (0).
Then resize the textbox to it minimun size and drag it out of view. And don't forget you did.
But I think the OP means the navigation links at the top.

Erase and install Leopard - how do I get my iWeb pages back?

Because of an issue with Photoshop CS3 I had to "erase and install" Leopard. I did backup all my files except the iWeb site... the site is still online but I can not see the pages anymore in iWeb. Does anyone know how to fix this?

iWeb does not have an "import" function whereby your published HTML could be used to rebuild your site.
The best you could do is manually retrieve your site's "content" (images, text, mp3s, etc.) from its published location. If you published to .Mac, your site's content will be on your iDisk -- accessed via the Finder > Go > iDisk > My iDisk > Web > Sites > ...
If you published elsewhere, your site's content may be accessible (downloadable) via your FTP program.
You can also display your site in a web browser and drag & drop images from there to your Desktop. Also in Safari, for example, you can do View > View Source to see your text and perhaps copy & paste it.

It is now apparent that iWeb, and iDVD, is no longer supported by Apple. This is evidenced by the fact that new Macs are shipping with iLife 11 installed but without iWeb and iDVD.

I found that if I published my site to a folder on my hard drive and then uploaded with a 3rd party FTP client subscriptions to slideshows and the RSS feed were broken. If I published directly from iWeb to the FPT server those two features continued to work correctly.
There's another problem and that's with iWeb's popup slideshows. Once the MMe servers are no longer online the popup slideshow buttons will not display their images.

Apple has announced that iLife is now an unsupported product and those iApps will only be available thru the App Store from now on. However, the boxed iLife 11 at the online Apple Store (Store button at the top of the page) and those still on the shelves of retailers will include iWeb and iDVD. Those two apps were listed in small, gray text on the iLife 11 box that I bought. Personally, if I already didn't have a copy I would purchase one to have it for reinstallation purposes if ever needed.

You can't. What you want to do is use iWebSites to merge your two domain files into a 3rd new domain file. Then you can move the pages of one site into the other site as necessary.
So rename each domain file to represent the site it contains and put them in your User/Library/Application Support/iWeb folder. When you launch iWebSites you can then select the two domain files and merge them.

I was very disappointed to find that we were misled. I am not sure if the guy who wrote this simply didn't check before he wrote this or what.
I wonder why Apple just took this off their site without any explanation to the people that were deceived. I spent quite a bit of time browsing discussions and contacting apple support to figure out that there was no truth to this "tip" of the week. How difficult would it have been to simply post a new tip, saying that we should not waste our time with this?
