How do I FTP my webpages to my .mac account?

I am creating my site in iweb '08 and publishing to a folder. I would prefer to FTP my site into my dotmac account and into my idisk. I have tried ftp.apple.com/dotmac and idisk.mac.com/username-Public. Im just not sure what the address is at this point. I am using captain FTP for my client. Also should I use passive mode and/or SSL? Thanks for any input !!

I would prefer to FTP my site into my dotmac account
.Mac doesn't use FTP, so you can't do that. You need to use webdav or just drag and drop into your mounted iDisk.
A site you publish to a folder may be lacking some features included in a site you publish directly, since it is designed to be used on a different server.

  • How do I find my password for my .mac account?

    How do I find my password for my .mac account?
    I open up 'Mail' on my macbook and this comes up - The iCloud IMAP server “p01-imap.mail.me.com” rejected the password for user “************”
    No idea where to find out what this password is. Any ideas??

    The password is the same as for the other iCloud facilities. If you can log into the iCloud website at http://icloud.com with the same password then you've probably run into a server issue which has affected some people, though you could try signing out in System Preferences>iCloud and signing back in again, which sometimes fixes it. (And sometimes doesn't.)
    If you can not get into the website you can change your password at http://appleid.apple.com - click 'Reset password' and sign in with your iCloud ID (not your iTunes ID if this is different).

  • How to ichat between two computers with one .mac account

    My husband and I travel a lot separately and need to be able to ichat when one of us is away.
    We have an iMac at home, and an iBook on the road (both about a year old with the latest software updated). We tried using an AIM account on one and our .mac account on the other which worked once, but now we can't seem to get it to work.
    Can anyone help us with this?
    Thanks very much.

  • How to publish from iWeb to two different .mac accounts

    my household has two separate .macs account and we want to publish from iWeb to the two different accounts which I cannot figure out. thanks

    I discovered I could duplicate Domain.sites2 (~/Library/Application Support/iWeb/Domain.sites2). I named one "Domain de.sites2", and the other "Domain daru.sites2". Then I opened daru's site and deleted de's, then I opened de's and deleted daru's, and I have two separate sites (with aliases in the dock) that I presume I'll be able to upload separately. Once I get .Mac sub groups created...
    If it works, it saves the hassle of creating other user accounts, since only my wife and I use the computer. Right now, .Mac is telling me I can't create a sub account in my wife's name because she already has a .Mac ID (and a two month free trial account she had to agree to, to join the group) for a group site I manage. I don't think she ought to be required to have a separate identity every time she logs into .Mac.

  • How can i publish my webpage to a website I just created a page in iweb

    how do you setup a webpage using the iweb page i made

    You want to publish the website you created so it appears online, right?  Here's what you need to do:
    1 - find a hosting service.
    2 - get a domain name. Unless you have a MobileMe account you will need a domain name in order to publish a site and have it accessable online.
    3 - get the ftp address of your account on the server, put it into iWeb 3's publish to section and publish your site to the server.
    There's a hosting service that inlcude a domain name (free registration) with every account.  Contact HostExcellence.com about their basic package for $3.95/mo (with a 2 year committment).
    This tutorial will help explain it in more detail: 28 - Using HostExcellence.com with iWeb.  This site will also provide more info on HD: Using HostExcellence - iWebFAQ.org

    all I want is the content to be centered on all resolutions. How am I to this?
    APDivs as a primary layout method seldom works well. Here is why:
    http://apptools.com/examples/pagelayout101.php
    Don't use positioning.  You don't need it except in very rare situations.  APDivs are removed from the normal document flow, so centering them is impossible unless you wrap them all inside a relative positioned parent element.
    Best advice, start over with one of the centered, fixed-width layouts that comes with Dreamwever.
    Go to File > New > Blank page > HTML > Layouts (choose one from the right side panel).  Hit Create button.
    Use CSS floats, margins & padding to align elements.
    Btw, I am not too good with coding/css
    That's a shame.  You should get up to speed with code basics soon otherwise DW will continue to frustrate you.

    How to install ftp service on the system?
    How to check and modify to use it?
    I am not able to use FTP.
    Regards,

    Rohit,
    If its about installation/Deployment of Agent- then its through SDM,
    'configuration' can be manual or Atuomatic:
    Manual-> refer the installation Guide which digesh has mentioned -(from page 20).
    Automatic- Its through Diagnostics Setup through Solman -(Its bit easy).
    Thanks,

    I used to have a web page in mobile me and now is closed.  How can I get my webpage data back?

    Your web pages on MobileMe have been deleted. If you were using iWeb you wouldn't have been able to open them anyway.
    As long as you have the iWeb 'Domain' file in your user Library, or whatever the program you are using stores the information in, on your Mac you can publish to another hosting service - there are plenty to choose from. More information here:

  • How do I FTP files from a security camera to iCloud so they can be retrieved back to my MacBook Pro whenever I connect when travelling?

    How do I FTP files from a security camera to iCloud so they can be retrieved back to my MacBook Pro whenever I connect when travelling?
    Russ

    Do you want to watch the live feed of your secutiry cameras or recorded footage?
    In either case, I don't think iCloud is your solution.
    For the first one, check with your security camera software, they usually have this option of broadcasting, so you'll know how to access it.
    For the later, you should use something like Dropbox (www.dropbox.com), since iCloud file sharing is, up to this date, app restricted.
    Hope it helps.

    You can use Jakarta's net-package to connect to a FTP server.
    Download it here:
    http://jakarta.apache.org/site/downloads/downloads_commons-net.cgi
    Here's a small demo:
    import org.apache.commons.net.ftp.*;
    public class FTPTest {
        private boolean isConnected;
        private FTPClient client;
        public FTPTest() {
            isConnected = false;
            connect();
        private void connect() {
            String server = "server.org";
            String username = "user";
            String password = "password";
            client = new FTPClient();
            try {
                client.connect(server);
                client.login(username, password);
                String[] files = client.listNames();
                for(int i = 0; i < files.length; i++) {
                    System.out.println(files);
    isConnected = true;
    disconnect();
    catch(Exception e) {
    e.printStackTrace();
    private void disconnect() {
    if(isConnected) {
    try {
    client.disconnect();
    isConnected = false;
    catch(Exception e) {
    e.printStackTrace();
    public static void main(String[] args) {

  • How to enable FTP service in Solaris 10

    Hello, Everybody
    I installed my first Solaris 10 today, but I have a problem with FTP process, I found I could not ftp to my new server from other equipments. It seems that FTP service is disabled by default.
    Could you any guy tell me how to enable FTP in Solaris 10?
    Thanks in advance.
    -jason

    Since the OS is Solaris 10, how about using SMF's svcadm tool to enable/disable ftp service.
    eg.,
    # svcadm disable /network/ftp
    # ftp localhost
    ftp: connect to address 127.0.0.1: Connection refused
    Trying ::1...
    ftp: connect: Network is unreachable
    ftp> bye
    # svcadm enable /network/ftp
    # ftp localhost
    Connected to localhost.

  • How do I repost a webpage that has been saved as an Archive?

    I created a webpage, posted it to my .mac account, then took it down. Now I want to go back and repost the same page. I saved the webpage as a Safari archive.
    Can anyone help me with this?
    Thanks,
    Robin

    okay, so once I have folderized the archive, how do I
    get it back into iWeb to edit it?
    There's no way to do that. iWeb doesn't import or open already published sites or html. You have to have the Domain file that created the site in the first place if you want to edit it from iWeb.
