How do i geotag pictures in OS X Photos app

Can pictures taken on something other than an i-device (i.e., my Nikon camera) have geotags applied inside Photos on Yosemite? If so, how?

Wondering if you've actually tried it. This note is prominent on their overview page:
It tried the latest trial.  I see the Photos Library in houdahGeo organized in Moments and just like in the Media Browser, and I can import the photos for tagging. And tag the photos with GPS data and reverse geocoded location metadata.  I checked in Preview, the geotags are there
And HoudahGeo will write this data to the original Master file.  So you can use it to geocode the originals.
The big problem however is, that nothing but reimporting the masters will convince Photos to use the new EXIF tags.  In Aperture or if a simple "touch" using the Terminal sufficed to make the app update the location data for the edited versions. With Photos touching the original will only make it upload to iCloud again, but the edited version will not show  the new geotags.  Also, AppleScript cannot update the locations. The location tags are readonly.
IMHO, it will be a long wait before any third-party app will be able to write location tags to a Photos library in a lossless way. For the time being, I am seeing no way around exporting and reimporting, or geocoding before we are importing to to Photos,  independent of the third party app we are using. I suggested houdahGeo, because it at least can browse the Photos librarian import the originals.

What is your MacOS X version and iPhoto Version?
If your Mac OS X and IOS ob your iPhone supports Photo Stream, add the the photos to the Photo Stream and import them to your camera roll.
Or send an email to yourself, then you can open the photos on your iPhone,
Or create an album in your iPhoto Library and add the photos that you want to upload and use iTunes to sync the album to your iPhone.

  • How do i delete "All Imported" pictures under "Album" under Photo App in iPad 2?

hi, i now have many photos in the All Imported folder under Album in Photo App in my iPad 2.   I don't seem to have a way either in Ipad 2 or in iTunes to DELETE / REMOVE these pictures?
can someone let me know how?

Yes, delete all the apps currently in iTunes, then transfer all the apps currently on the iPad back into iTunes. Of course it will take some time to sync the apps back into iTunes, but it satisfies your desire to remove all apps from iTunes that are not on your iPad without the need to laboriously note what is and is not there. In fact as a bonus after removing all the apps from iTunes you could open the ..\iTunes Media\Mobile Applications folder and delete any remaining orphaned files that might still be there, before you transfer purchases.

  • Pictures not showing in photo app after syncing.

I synced my N8 with windows media player after the anna update but couldn't see any pictures in the photo app. Pictures are already on the device inside "pictures" (not "images") folder in E: drive. After playing a bit, i figured out that photos app only read the pictures inside "images" folder of E: drive. Is there any possible way to make photo app read files in the "pictures" folder or make Windows Media Player sync with the "images" folder instead of "pictures" folder. Any help would be great. Thanks.

I guess you just have to move them every time from Pictures folder to Images you sync with windows media and I prefer to start using Ovi Suite to sync
to move a file you should mark it first then click Options - Organize - Move to - choose whatever folder you want
If I've helped in any way, a click upon the star over on the left would always be appreciated.

  • How do I create titles for albums in Photo app?

When someone sends me photos in an email and I download them to my ipad2 they automatically appear in the native Photo App. When I tap Album they are grouped together with the title “Camera Roll” whatever that means. My question is: How to I change the title “Camera Roll” to a title of my choosing? I know how to do this in iPhoto on my MacBook Pro where most of my photos are grouped in “events” but have no idea how to do this on my ipad. Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

Photos that are emailed to you and saved to your iPad are automatically saved to the Camera Roll. You can not title the photos or albums on the iPad without using a third party app. The photo captioning ability is not built into the iOS. You can search the apps store but one app that I know of is called Photo-Sort for iPad. You can also organize and create folders for your photos with this app.

  • How do you lower the storage that the Photos app takes up?

My photos app takes up a lot of space on my iPhone and I am hoping that someone can help me figure out how to lower it. I have tried deleting photos that I don't need but the app still takes up 2.6 GB. I don't even have 100 photos but I do have a couple videos. This is really annoying because I only have the 16 GB iPhone. (I have the iPhone 5s 16 GB running IOS 8.1.3)

    Hey Sam,
The iCloud Photo Library (beta) was created to address the issue you are having with storage space on your iPhone.  I record a lot of videos on my iPhone, so I know that they consume more space than just about anything else.  I frequently import the videos onto my computer and remove them from the iPhone to free up space.  Here is some information that may help you.

How does iCloud Photo Library save space on my device?
If you turn on Optimize [device] Storage, iCloud Photo Library will automatically manage the size of your library on your iOS device, so you can make the most of your device's storage and access more photos than ever. iCloud Photo Library stores the original, high-resolution photos and videos in iCloud and can keep lightweight, device-optimized versions on each of your devices. As long as you have enough storage, recent photos and videos that you access the most will stay on your device at full resolution.
To turn on Optimize [device] Storage on your device, tap Settings > iCloud > Photos or Settings > Photos & Camera, then select Optimize [device] Storage. You need an Internet connection to access an original photo or video that’s stored only in iCloud.

Hold down the option (or alt) key key and launch Photos. From the resulting menu select 'Choose Library'

  • HT201302 My phone uploaded ALL my pictures from my PC  how do I delete pictures not in the photo stream or camera roll?

My ios4 uploaded ALL my pictures from my PC, and they aren't in the photo stream or camera roll and I cannot delete them from phone.  Anyone have an idea how I can do that?  Driving me nuts! Thank you!

If the pictures are synced to the device from iTunes, the only way to remove them is via iTunes.
Either delete the pictures from the folder selected to sync or stop syncing that folder.
Why are you incapable of doing this or what about it did not work?

  • Sony dpf-d810 how to get facebook pictures to load on photo frame. get ? photos.

How to change facebook stored photos to use on a sony s-frame dpf=d810.  I only get a large question mark.  Is there a program I can use to access my own phots stored only on facebook.  My computer crashed and I dont have them stored anywhere else.

If a question mark is displayed in index view, the thumbnail data or image file itself may not be supported by the photo frame. If the images are in an unsupported format, then it may be required to convert the files to one of the supported file formats before using them in the photo frame. Refer to page 33 of the supplied operating manual for information regarding the compatible image file formats.

  • How do i delete pictures from my iPhone Photo Library

The only discussions I found said I needed to delete them from my computer then sync the iPhone, but I want to keep the copies on my computer but get them off my phone. When I delete them from my phone then sync they seem to get put back on my iPhone.

Right, it is not intuitive. That is because you don't delete them from your iPhone. You have to tell iTunes to stop syncing them. This is NOT the same as deleting them from your computer, you don't have to touch the photos in iPhoto.
So again, plug your phone into iTunes. Click on it when it shows up in the side bar. When you look at you phone in iTunes you should see a whole bunch of tabs at the top for the different things you can sync, (Music, Info, Movies, TV) one of those tabs it photos. In this tab you can tell iTunes which photos to sync and which ones not to. Telling iTunes not to sync a photo will remove it from you phone but will not touch your iPhoto library.

  • How do you make multiple folders in the photo app-

the question speaks for itself.also, how do you sync multiple albums onto the phone?

The way I sync folders is this (I know it may not be what you are looking for).
But in iTunes you can pick a folder to sync to. For me I made a specific folder just for my iPhone.
Any pictures I want on my iPhone I put in that folder (copies).
And then in that folder you can create subfolders (to organize). Note though you can only go 1 subfolder deep. You cannot put a subfolder in a subfolder.
    So for example:
C:\DATA\iPHONE This is the folder for my syncing.
    I can create
    C:\DATA\iPHONE\FAMILY
    C:\DATA\iPHONE\FRIENDS
    C:\DATA\iPHONE\ABSTRACT
    C:\DATA\iPHONE\NEWYEARSPARTY
    But I cannot create
    C:\DATA\iPHONE\FAMILY\WIFE
Then you just put pictures you want sycned into them. Sort of better to work with copies and have a folder specific for the iPhone I think. At some point you will want pics removed from your phone and far easier to just delete them from the iPhone specific folder than if you went to route of syncing to the folder you actually store photos you want to keep forever on your computer. Having a specific folder with copies means you can delete and add at will and know your real memories are elsewhere.
